Oh Lordy

I deleted today's post by mistake as I was waiting for the car to pass it's MOT
IT's my fat fingers on my iPhone .
It is a bit like threading a needle with a raw sausage !
Yesterday's post cost me three followers! I should have known better!
I thought it was measured and fair.
At least Ursula got all moist over it.
She loves conflict.

I fell over this morning as I was trying to take a picture of a kingfisher.
The kingfisher in question was a seven foot wooden sculpture on the banks of the river Elwy and not the actual bird, although I managed to witness the real thing as it looped over the water quite, quite beautifully.
It was a wonderful thing to see on a sunny morning.

Two elderly ladies on sticks saw me slide down the long grassy bank on my arse.
I think it provided them with quite a spectacle given the fact that Mary's lead was wrapped around my wrist and she followed me quite gleefully a second after I had disappeared from view!
It must have looked all rather Wile E Coyote
They stopped and asked if I was alright which was sweet of them .

  2. Your yesterday's post reverberated around blog land and you weren't the only one to lose a follower. It is sad that different views can be taken wrongly bt some as personal attacks.

    1. Yes. I want to understand the culture of the gun as it relates ( as it obviously does) with American history and the physicality of the land.

    2. Me too. It is not simply England is a green and pleasant land, because it isn't.

  3. Nice to hear that someone else has fat and recalcitrant fingers.
Love the kingfisher - and thank you for yesterday's post.

  4. Its a problem. People seems to get very defensive sometimes if you're not of the same mind. Everyone should be able to express their opinion without being pounced on. Its ok to listen to someone else's point of view. Its sometimes give you a different perspective on the subject.

  6. I have a lot to say about your post yesterday but just too tired and I am having a what the doctors call an episode.
All I have to say is I live in a border town with Mexico and the gun violence here is in the more hispanic areas of Tucson. The cartel are coming across with illegals and the violence in these areas has escalated the last ten years.
Sorry Jennifer is getting dumped on. I don't have any guns but I know how to use them.
Sorry you lost some followers. They will come back no one can resist you for long John. This is your blog and you have your views.
I wrote a small post on last Tuesday.

I need to read You and Weaver every day you post.
    cheers, parsnip

  8. I'd like to see a kingfisher. My Mom once broke an ankle trying to get a better look at an Indigo Bunting. This was pre cell phones so a real challenge to get home.

The first thing you do when you fall over is to check if anyone saw you do it. That's the rule. Better luck next time!

  13. What an adventure you and Mary had taking the photo of that gorgeous bird sculpture for us, and the two ladies who saw you had much to talk about that day. Apparently you risk life and limb for us and these blog posts.

  19. Hope the grass/mud stains come out of the trousers easily John. I thought about yesterday's post a lot - America and its "culture" seems so foreign to me - in many ways New Zealand is at the other end of the continuum on many issues, and, if it comes to that, all 4 million of us would hardly constitute a city over there!!! We've also just managed a General Election with hardly a rude word spoken.... just the way I like it!

  20. Well, the picture is well worth it, I'd say.

  21. If followers have left you over an opinion re guns, it is their loss ! I bet Mary was thinking " I can't take him anywhere!! " On the bright side, you didn't end up in the river!

  22. I read your post late last night and all the comments. Nothing I could contribute that hadn't been said. As for losing followers, as Angryparsnip said, they'll be back...there's something slightly addictive about your blog!

Holding on to Mary and the slide down hill.
Happy that leash didn’t wrap around your neck . . .
It might have been a different story . . .
