She's only just speaking
The home family is almost back up to strength, I collect the Welsh terriers this afternoon whereas Winnie and George were picked up last night from the Greta and my sister respectively.
Winnie had been spoilt rotten and was wearing a new glitter collar when I arrived and has been suitably "cool" with me ever since she got home which is typical of bulldogs.
George on the other hand was waiting at the door for us to take him home even though my sister has pampered him like a mini celeb...... He's a real home bird!
Albert has been incredibly clingy after his week alone in the cottage, and his constant head rubbing and uncharacteristic purring has felt somewhat over-the-top given that our usual welcome has always been an occasional arse rub into the face when he is in the mood!
You missed all the crap weather. Well done.
ReplyDeleteWe had one hail storm one night that ripped the awnings from the hotel windows the stones were as big as golf balls.....by morning 2 hours later you would never have guessed
DeleteAs I have always thought, you do have a way with words, per your last sentence.
ReplyDeleteThank you kind sir
Deletebut you don't wear a bra (I hope)! neither do I.
ReplyDeleteso all is well in the little welsh cottage.
and CONGRATS for not gaining any vacation pounds!
I must have swallowed a tapeworm
DeleteI read it as tampax at first
DeleteTrust you
DeleteAwww everybody will be waiting for their morning snuggle.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward in seeing the welsh a bit later
DeleteI've come to believe holidays exist to remind us how nice it is to be at home, with a comfortable routine and an even more comfortable bed.
ReplyDeleteHope you're well rested and ready to take on normality with renewed vigour!
Dave Martin-I totally agree with you. Those small things you appreciate so much when you return to them.
DeleteI am behind with the flower show stuff!
DeleteGotta LOVE home,eh?!
ReplyDeleteOur best hope is to live up to being the kind of person, our dogs and cats think we are.
ReplyDeleteGlamorous winnie and her new glitzy collar. She will make you pay for leaving her behind...but who cleans at 6AM. Welcome home one and all.
ReplyDeleteI was in bed by 8 pm
Delete8 am

ReplyDeleteGoing on trips is so ... so .. exhausting .. mentally.
ReplyDeleteYou go through the Where To Go phase then into the preps, reservations, how to get there, how long to stay, then you get there and you don't want to waste time, you want to see and do it all and then you have to go home. Pack, drive/fly/ exhausted and hello pups ! cats ! Unpack ... hopefully climb into bed and sleep until something wakes you with a kiss or cold nose and you get up and there you are, Back to Life as Normal.
I need a trip.
I'm glad you are back and that everyone is fine.
Well not all the family has returned as yet
DeleteWelcome home - there is no place like home!
ReplyDeleteHolidays are great but it is always lovely to be home.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, nothing like being home in one's own bed!
ReplyDeleteYou must be happy to be home with all your furry family.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, they are all saying.
ReplyDeleteWe are too.
Congrats on the no further weight gain. It is always a tough battle.
ReplyDeleteSuccess it is when we can be on vacation and
ReplyDeletethe return home shows no weight gain.
Welcome Home!
I wonder how long Winnie's cool will last. Maybe another day. Except, for the looks of that photo, I think it's already wearing thin.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers at the bottom there.
ReplyDeleteThey cheered me up
DeleteGood for you to not have gained any weight..you must have done a lot of walking or sweated off what you ate in the uncharacteristic heat. Albert must have really missed you.
ReplyDeleteMinnie, our rat terrier who stayed with my sister the 8 days we were on vacation, spent her first day back all sad and mopey with ears back as if she was asking what she had done to be abandoned for a week. the next day she was her usual happy bouncy self. the cat got all affectionate after her week alone in the house. her revenge is waking me up several times in the middle of the night to be petted.
ReplyDeleteI think winnie had so much pampering she didnt want to come home either
Deletebest pic of you and winnie ever! btw...i just made 9 scotch eggs. i'll have someone eat a few for you!
ReplyDeleteOh be still my beating heart
ReplyDeleteThe picture of you and Winnie is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhen my Scotties got older they liked being at home. That is where the family love it.
ReplyDeleteAdore the two photos, Winnie and the beautiful flowers.
cheers, parsnip and thehamish
Welcome home! Oooh, a glitter collar. I'm kind of jealous.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Albert is just trying to get you to understand that you have not yet found (and praised him for) the headless food item he "hid" in a far corner for safekeeping ...
ReplyDeleteWe rarely leave home but when we do the best part for me is getting back. Why yes, I am not the best traveller, how did you guess?
Photos of Winnie and her glittery collar please
ReplyDelete"an occasional arse rub into the face when he is in the mood!" -- oh, Albert -- you are such a typical cat.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better John! Congratulations on holding the weight - that's most impressive! Love the way the critters each express their opinions of your DESERTION!
ReplyDeleteIt is said that Queen Victoria also only got an occasional arse rub into the face from Albert when he was in the mood.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! And does that pic show that dogs look like their owners? Bwahahaha!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, glad you are feeling slightly better about being back. Gotta love a girl in a glittery collar.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland, NZ
Truly sorry you had to return.
ReplyDeleteI was listening to a Radio programme about 'domestic abuse' last night. The strangest thing was why people stayed in the abusive relationship for as long as they did.
