Stormy Weather

Torrential rain seems to have moved in and the cottage looked dark and slightly depressing after the sun of yesterday.
I have switched on the gay pink flamingos in the kitchen and everything looks slightly more cheerful.
I am making bolognese
We have only had one bit of excitement this morning as Mary careered around the house yelping like a puppy.

She had trapped her head inside a plastic coat hanger!

  1. Vile weather here too in the Midlands; summer seems to have disappeared altogether these days - my birthday in June used to be boiling hot weather - now I just get used to pottering off to the pub to celebrate in the showers. Global warming? - I won't say a word about POTUS.

  3. I'm impressed with your ability to take a sour day and sweeten it with pink flamingos and bolognese, even Mary refuses to get"hung up" on gloomy weather!

  5. It rained almost every day in May....so maybe it's gone far enough East to leave us alone for a while...Here in Kansas it can be muddy one day and cracks in the ground the next. Ever changing!

  8. I love storms if they're not big enough to be hurricanes. I like the dark coziness inside and it gives me permission to lay about and read.
Why did Mary stick her head through the hanger? Any idea?

  10. Rain here too - even in the east.
Send some of that bolognese over by e mail - I am finding it such a chore to cook for one.

    1. Weaver, me too. The best solution I have found so far is to cook for however many, as usual when there was more than one person eating .. then put the rest in the freezer .. you never have to cook every single night if you do it that way.
      :)

  19. Ack, Mary! Tell John to put the camera down and release you from the torture device! :)

Days that are dreary can be turned around by cooking or baking, extra light and pets, but it can take work.

  21. Our cats have reacted the same way to plastic bags. Where are those regularly videoed animals that just sit there calmly and wait for someone to free them?

  22. Piddling down and blowing a hoolie here on the east coast.
Puppies and toddlers always find some random object to get stuck in. Mary looks a bit subdued waiting to be freed. She's a sweetie.

  23. Oh Mary - how embarrassing! I thought it was summer in the UK? It's 11 degrees here and wet, so we're hugging heaters, but at least it's supposed to be winter here so we shouldn't moan too much... not that that stops us!

  24. Doesn't she know that coat hangers on heads went out of fashion months ago?

  25. Every home should have gay pink flamingos, although saying that .... I have battery operated gold coloured balls on the front of the kitchen shelves :-)
