I love it .. :) I have lived in cities lately that have a few places where people go to pray and I have grown used to the sight of people dressed a little differently than the rest of us. The Zucchini captured the look perfectly .. brava.
It was never thought to be controversial by me at all. I just saw what I saw and did one version with aubergines and one with the courgettes. I named it in my head "the family group". Thanks for the comments that I have read and thanks to John for publishing it. He has been sitting on it for a while. I don't know what a Ninja is so had to google it.
It took me a minute, then I thought oh! very clever, then I thought wow! someone is going to say something awful.......... so far, so good. Nice crowd today.
Interesting but I like it in a sad way.
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip and thehamish
Hmm, actually it is a good one.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I think this is a great one. Confronting, but wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love it .. :)

DeleteThank you for saying that. x
DeleteJust stating the obvious,dear.
Deleteomg..this has to be the best yet!
ReplyDeleteBack to The Dark Ages......it's brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI see ninja zukes...
ReplyDeleteOutstanding and innovative and provocative, the kind of thing that makes the world go round!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was ninjas, not burkas!
ReplyDeleteEither way, it's very clever.
DeleteI don't find it controversial. A depiction of women in burkas.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see burkas I immediately saw Ninja warriors. Fascinating!!
ReplyDeletewhat Joanne said. It didn't occur to me but when I read her comment...yes.
ReplyDeleteFun with veggies! Is more veg like more cowbell?
ReplyDeleteVery clever! Rachel has a discerning eye.
ReplyDeleteWhy controversial? Courgettes can be shy too!
ReplyDeleteLike others here, I think they look like ninjas. Nothing controversial about ninjas unless you live in a 1970s martial arts movie.
ReplyDeleteThis made me giggle as my computer screen scrolled down very slowly. Excellent.
ReplyDeleteExceptional art and very clever.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mitchell. That is very nice of you to say that, from you to me. x

ReplyDeleteNinjas are little boys who have seen their first Bruce Lee movie :)
DeleteVery good Rachel. Upside down they look like Danish gnomes! :)
ReplyDeleteActually for an Aussie it's the Ned Kelly armour look!
ReplyDeleteGood thinking Rachel..simple but innovative whatever ones interpretation.
Slightly controversial? Rachel? Never!
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of them, and that they are in a group. Honi soit qui mal i ponse.
ReplyDeleteYes, quite.
DeleteThey became a group when I had finished cutting. I could see without doubt that it was going to work better as a group or 'family' than one alone.
This is very well executed.
ReplyDeleteI love that one.
ReplyDeletei just knew that those zucchinis were secretly Muslims!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!😁
ReplyDeleteVery clever, dear Rachel.

Love it. Gave me a chuckle. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteNinjas! :) How cool.
ReplyDeleteWell done.
ReplyDeleteIf Trump saw this, he'd ban cucumbers and zucchini.
