Lard arse

Stan stopped me today with a cheery " I was telling my Kit only yesterday that you've lost some weight ....you look better for it too....you were starting to waddle!"
I smiled weakly
He was right....I had started to waddle.
I am beginning to feel the benefit of no scotch eggs, those daily long walks with Mary and the weekly drive to Holywell for weigh in at fat club.
So far I have lost 32 lbs!
" Thats the equivalent of sixteen bags of sugar! "  so screamed  leader Joanne at Fatclub amid ooohhhs and arrrhhhh  from the seated masses...but I find it more astonishing that it is the exact weight of William! A dog that I would have difficulty carrying for more than 50 yards!
No wonder I had found it hard reaching the bathtaps whilst having a bath!

Now I can reach those taps without rocking back and forth like a waterlogged Buddha
I can now march those two miles with Mary without gasping and farting
And I can get into my underpants without the usual hopping around and overbalancing.
My treble chin has now become a double chin.
And my non elasticated pants have now been dusted down to be worn.
I have 28 lbs to go!
How could I have got so big!? I ask myself now
The answer is an easy one....
I ate too much shit!

  1. That's inspirational John. Well done on your weight loss. I could do with losing a few pounds myself. Perhaps I can follow your example. However, the photo suggests that losing weight is turning you into a madman!

  6. Ain't it the truth - I eat too much *stuff* also ... I read a stat that made sense: weight loss is 80% what you eat and 20% exercise. It's so easy to swallow twice as many calories as we need - or more - and so hard to cut back. But as you have shown - it works!

  9. Don't you hate those backhanded compliments? "Oh, you look great. So much better than you used to look." (That's a direct quote from my aunt some years back.) Anyway, congrats on the weight loss. But you'll always be my "sweet sugar dumpling."

  16. Lots of hard work you are doing and it is showing ! Fabulous !
The walking is the answer, also with eating less. That is my problem I eat good food but just to much of it. Plus I do not walk any more. That was my secret weapon.

    cheers, parsnip and thehamish

  18. Over-eating will put on the extra pounds. Scotch eggs didn't help you any. I should talk - my downfall is cheesecake. :-(

  20. Good job. It is very hard work to lose weight and keep it off. Portion control and exercise is the key. When you are tempted by a scotch egg, cut in half (or quarters) and indulge just a tiny bit. It will be even more delicious this way!
Keep going and you will have a longer and much more enjoyable retirement :)

  22. It does come down to what we eat and how much of it. It's not easy to lose weight. If it were, we'd all be slim. I'm glad you feel better and things are easier. That's the motivation that will keep you going. -Jenn

  23. Hey, it is easy to do. I have low-carbed myself to death with great results. Keep going!

  24. Congrats John, that is wonderful! I have been a lifetime dieter! Pounds are so easy to pack on and so tough to get off. I'm holding steady, but still would like to lose about 10 lbs. I have found a low carb diet works best for me, but I still need a carb binge every now and then! When you find what works, stick with it. Your scotch eggs are not as bad as you make them out to be. A super low carb snack. The fat can be reduced by baking them rather than frying them. You might like to try making your own sometime, since it is quite evident you are a good cook! Indulge and enjoy! My weakness is my vino. When I get down to serious dieting, it has to go! Let me see...what wine would pair up with a scotch egg?

  25. Well done John . . .
Keep up that daily two mile walk . .

  26. It happens to us all...little by little. My diabetes numbers have reached the clouds so I am counting carbs (no more than 15 per day) and walking again. Your health will love you for it.

  27. John, you can do this! You ARE doing this! Good for you!

  28. Well done, John - what an excellent achievement to lose all those lbs. I'm having a personal battle myself, trying to get back on to my low carb/high fat way of eating which worked so well for me last year and even reversed my diabetes diagnosis.
Please can we use your blog to check our weight loss each week - I need something to spur me on. I'll be brave and confess that my current weight is 13st 09lbs. blush, blush.

  29. What a great achievement John, you look great. I need to walk a bit more I know that, but have lost 10lb with about another 10lb to go, and a low carb diet suits me best.
