It's a day for small jobs. Ringing round the members of the Flower Show committee in order to organise a meeting for Monday, dropping off a sunflower to a friend who has lost her partner. Planting out more sunflowers and agapanthus by the back door. Cutting the lawn. Cleaning the perspex on the village noticeboard. Washing clothes, hoovering the car.....weeding and polishing
Hours filled with jobs that don't sound very important
They are important, otherwise they wouldn't need doing. X
ReplyDeleteI always feel very satisfied at the end of days like this- it's the small things, added up, which make the world go 'round.
ReplyDeleteBINGO in Wales?? Aye 12!
ReplyDeleteSmall, thankless jobs that make the world go round ... somebody has to do them.
ReplyDeleteSometimes those are the best days . . .
ReplyDeleteA list . . . and

Completely off the subject, I've been out of the office a couple days and just read about Auntie Glad. Please do, give her a kiss and a hug for me next time you see her. I visited my own Auntie Audrey yesterday and gave her a big hug and kiss. I just wanted to make sure you saw this john so I put it in Friday's blog post.
ReplyDeleteAt least the day goes quick and you can sit down at the end of it all with a glass of something good, knowing you've earned it.
ReplyDeleteIndividually they may not sound important but cumulatively they add up to a lot.
ReplyDeleteAt the end of day like that I feel disappointed. I like to do big things.
ReplyDeleteI also love days of doing this and that and having that satisfaction at the end of the day that everything on my To Do list is Done.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are important. Brought a smile to my face.
ReplyDeleteKeep them up to date....otherwise they turn into really BIG jobs.
ReplyDeleteThose things I wish I had a maid for. I was spreading mulch on the beds and had ants crawling all over me. Funny they didn't bite though I was swatting them left and right. The HVAC and plumber have been out for the fourth time this week and hopefully the problem is fixed. Need to water gardens and so much more.
ReplyDeleteMy big thing on my list of one thing to do is done.
ReplyDeleteI went to the pharmacy. Now I can huddle in the house with the cats and hope the next hurricane is a non event. sigh.
important things that need to be done. I am at work doing some mindless shit (like filing); friday is our least-busy day, monday is our VERY busy day.
ReplyDeleteThey don't sound important, but if they don't get done, everything starts to look, smell and feel uncared for. I love days when I have the energy to tackle the list.
ReplyDeleteA good day then. I love agapanthus.
ReplyDeleteI love agapanthus. I had an L shaped border around my big windows looking out to the ocean. When they were in bloom what a wonderful view inside and out. I miss them and the house.
ReplyDeleteLove your pots with the gavel from one of your other yard chores.
cheers, parsnip and thehamish
Keeping busy is good, just work your way through each moment. Greetings and nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteIf you don't do those 'small, unimportant jobs' it very quickly becomes evident just how important they are.
ReplyDeleteI prefer lots of 'little' jobs; when done I feel somehow more satisfied and also I get bored doing one chore which takes oodles of time.
ReplyDeleteThose are all the small-ish jobs I look forward to relishing when I retire. They just don't get done, or get done in haste when I HAVE to have it done on the weekends.
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons why I get crabby when my mum asks me what I have planned for the day. The other reason it makes me crabby is that she isn't actually the slightest bit interested in my answer and rarely ever lets me finish. :D
ReplyDeleteDitto. My mum also gives me a complete run down of what she is doing or has done in minute detail. God bless mothers, they drive us nuts but we wouldn't be without them.
DeleteLots of little jobs accomplished John, well done that man.
Your day reminds me of the poem 'Atlas' by U. A. Fanthorpe
ReplyDeleteYou will identify with it.
EH
I love that poem.

DeleteWhat a difference each of those tasks make to the little pleasures of a life well lived - an ordered garden, a clean and comfortable house and car, a pleasant noticeboard. Quality of life tasks. Well done John. I haven't been very well recently and it's those little tasks that I might have knocked off one or two per day that have piled up on me - suddenly it all looks a bit messy around here. And that's actually depressing....
ReplyDeleteIt's the little jobs, once done, that make life so much better.
ReplyDeleteI will miss you and your blog! I agree with Bianca, you are one of my favorites! I also understand where you come from. U Blog very inspiring to me.
