We all need a treat from time to time.
For the dogs it is a cheap frankfurter sausage that gets the blood pumping!
And this morning they had two each to be getting on with.
I was in two minds whether or not to get myself a scotch egg but I was virtuous and bought myself a melon instead!
My treat today will be a trip to the cinema this evening. The Prof is away so it's a lone trip to Theatre Clwyd to see Woody Allen's classic Manhattan
What's your treat to yourself?
Oh you will enjoy that movie, even if you have seen it before .. I can always watch a Woody Allen film again and again.
ReplyDeleteAll those perfect little one-liners ..
I don't think I am giving myself any treats today.
But we will see ... have fun !
Grey Goose vodka or Lindt Lindor chocolate. Or both.
ReplyDeletePrefer melons to sausage....
DeleteI love Manhattan! One of my favorite movies. Starring Meryl Streep and her hair.
ReplyDeleteLOL, and her hair :)
DeleteHa, the look on the dog's face says it all. Can I also add that your blog header-the image of the chicken staring straight at the camera gets me every time :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your trip to the cinema. Today I will treat myself to a good book. Greetings!
They were a group of rescued hens, sweet natured, friendly and dim
DeleteI believe dim is the operative word when describing a chicken ... don't they look up when it rains and drown ? or is that turkey's .. second dimmest.
DeleteI love honey roasted cashews. I have to be careful because they are a calorie explosion. I wouldn't mind if they were my last meal.
ReplyDeleteWhat's my treat to myself? Not a goddamn melon, that's for sure! You're more virtuous than me.
ReplyDeleteA dressed crab, served with very thinly sliced brown bread and best butter! Nectar of the Gods! X
ReplyDeleteOhhh yes. My treat when on holiday.
DeleteIt's got to be a glass of dry white wine after work.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on turning your back on a Scotch Egg. I haven't treated myself to anything in the food line in so long...but if I did....it would be Smoky Bacon Crips. (we call them chips but I didn't want to confuse you lol)
ReplyDeleteMy treats generally fall into the Chocolate category but I might splurge and buy something frivolous .. or better yet, I might just keep planning my escape back to New York.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to dance the day you go back to NY! A good day indeed.
DeleteLOL Linda .. is that for me or so you don't have to hear me talking about it anymore :)
DeleteGoodness you are planning an escape back to New York ? I remember your posted about your move to Florida.
DeleteYou just moved to Florida. Maybe you picked the wrong city. My friend lives in a beautiful part of old West Palm Beach. She posted a photo of one of the streets filled with beautiful ornate pink tinted building. Her city looked so beautiful.
Good luck in whatever you choose.
Seriously, friend; any canine that i want to interact with has a long nose. Anything else is a bizarre human self indulgence.
ReplyDeleteGlad it's not just me......... :)
DeleteDavoh, I don't speak that language, can you translate ? :)
Deletepopcorn! teddy would kill for a hot dog but it would give her the green apple quick step.
ReplyDeleteIf I buy a coffee out rather than have instant at home I think I am doing pretty well for myself!
ReplyDeleteTreat to myself? Cheesecake at the moment. It changes from time to time. :-)
ReplyDelete'Manhattan' was the first film in which (for most people? Certainly me) Ms Streep made an entry into public awareness. It's a good film - though I found especially indulgent the part where Woody runs through a list of some of his favourite things. Sounded like a show-off ("Look how knowledgeable I am!") - and singling out the slow movement of Mozart's 'Jupiter' symphony above all others is just (to me) bizarre!
ReplyDeleteBut as a whole it's a film to enjoy - and one of many of his I have on videotape (remember them?), all infinitely repeatable viewing.
A self-treat? Now, let me think.......though whatever it is I could never equal Winnie's almost painful expression of yearning.
I thought Sophie's Choice was what put her on the map ..
DeleteRaymondo....it wasnt as funny as i remember! But the visuals were lovel
DeleteActually, NFB, 'Sophie' was preceded by not only 'Manhattan' (by three years), but also 'Kramer v Kramer' and 'French Lieutenant's Woman' - as well as a slightly lesser role in 'The Deer Hunter'.
Delete'Manhattan' is nowhere near a laugh-a-minute that so many of his earlier films were, J.G., though it's well worth watching, unlike some of them that came in the few years subsequent to it where he bemoans his lot - "I just don't WANT to be funny!" (I think that was 'Stardust Memories') - Oh, for goodness' sake, stop whingeing!
DeleteAn hour long massage followed by a glass of very good Cabernet while getting a pedicure and manicure. Sigh!
ReplyDeleteLying out in the snow on a minus 40*C night eating Galaxy chocolate, ( imported on my last trip to Scotland!), while watching the Aurora Borealis dancing away! Winter Special. For my dog Fionnula (Bernese), it's sharing an orange or Mandarin ..... Big Drool Moment there...lol!
ReplyDeleteA food treat is a Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato Sandwich. Like you with the Scotch Egg, I treat myself a few times a year and savor every bite.
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip
We both have a tendency to high blood sugar. We had a slice of pizza yesterday. It was GRRRRRREAT. LOL
ReplyDeleteFor Sandra it is minus 40 C for us, here in Virginia, it is plus 30 C. As a Lancashire lad the American beers, though good enough, are a bit too fizzy. So, my treat this week is that I bought some imported cans of Boddingtons and I'm having one each evening.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about the beer! It's rubbish in North America....even the Guinness tastes naff!
DeleteUsually a Brazilian. The men...not the waxing
ReplyDeleteSteady
Deletepizza, pretty yarn, chocolate, gin...the list is endless!
ReplyDeleteChocolate.
ReplyDeleteChocolate, more chocolate, even more chocolate, Swiss or Belgian. I'll have to go out and buy some now!
ReplyDeleteSock yarn, Maltesers and freshly brewed coffee x
ReplyDeleteanother knitter; YAYZ! :)
DeleteSure am! hehe x
DeleteI called on the way homefrom my day out and bought myself The Times and a Twirl, came in and made a pot of Italian coffee
ReplyDeleteYou giddy kipper
DeleteCrab legs and drawn butter or a nice plate of spaghetti.....why is it always food. I do enjoy a good book too.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course pictures of my new dog winnie. When will she be delivered. I have some hot dogs in the frig for her.
Oh bloody hell torment me why dont you
DeletePoor Winnie - the anticipation is killing her !
ReplyDeleteFavourite treat of the moment is fresh raspberries - just eaten on their own.
She literally wet herself with the excitement of that weener
DeleteI would have loved that to be a photo of Winnie just about to jump up and bite your cock off, but I don't think it would hold up in the courts - or anywhere else.
ReplyDeleteI am sometimes boggled by what pops into a person's mind when they see a photo of some sort .. a sweet bulldog and a "hot dog" ...
Delete... weener...
DeleteYou would know
DeleteNow John, can you honestly say that what Tom said never crossed your mind?
DeleteCough cough
DeleteA coffee made by a skilled barista and a small french pastry... whatever looks best at our local wonderful shop.... and a good book and 20 minutes PEACE to enjoy it all.
ReplyDeleteA good comedy film, dated, but love 'Tootsie' as some fabulous lines.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite ! I absolutely love Tootsie
DeleteMy daughter mixing us a lovely cool Pimms with homegrown strawberries, lemon balm and mint and sipping it in the garden on a lovely summers evening. That was a treat.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a Pimms in years :(
Delete1 exam today, 2 tomorrow, 1 Friday. Then 3 the week after and my future is decided. Very Scary
ReplyDeleteGood luck cameron! I hope you are still here to enter a few classes in the Flower Show before you go to university!
DeleteThank you, and of course I am!
DeleteMy treat today was a handful of oats that I scattered out of the side hatch for a little flock of ducklings that gathered there.
ReplyDeleteMy treat today was the view I have 'at work' looking out at the Atlantic Ocean along the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia. (no, I do not work for Tourism here)
ReplyDeleteI'd take melon over a Scotch egg any day. I treated myself to a nap with Dudo today... and a creme-filled cake after lunch.
ReplyDeleteLove that beautiful girl!
ReplyDeleteCheese
ReplyDeleteMy treat . . .popcorn with my pup . . .
ReplyDeleteShe especially likes me tonight, thunder storm, she has her thunder shirt on and she is right next to me . . .
Sweet little pup . . .
My treat . . .
A pint of Bluebell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream eaten directly from the carton.
ReplyDeleteMy treat to myself is either a bowl of chocolate ice cream or some Lindt chocolate truffles. Or on a slighter larger scale, a walk along the Belfast Lough coastal path, which is pretty spectacular.
ReplyDeleteMy dogs favourite treat is a fresh slim carrot, just rinsed .... strange creatures.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Flower Show schedule .... I'll see what I can rustle up :-)
Wanted to treat myself to a showing of 'What's up Doc' at the open air cinema in Edinburgh today but my boss kept me back and made me miss my train (you had to be there super-early because of increased security measures). Flippin' annoyed now.
