A Wonderful World

The Prof is busy at work today and so I am entertaining the mother in law.
A Garden Centre, a trip to a vintage clothes store in an attempt to sell some of her Victorian clothes and lunch out at a rather nice restaurant is the order of the day.
I'll post a selfie of us later!
In the meantime have a look at this video taken in the village hall recently.
It's a clip of Chelsea Cameron, the daughter of Sandra who is the Hall's caretaker and winner of the Best in Show at The Trelawnyd Flower Show.
Chelsea has a lovely voice and it a bit of a star in the village.
Given the bad news in London recently, the title of this song couldn't be better chosen.
Sit back and enjoy

  2. That sounds like a lovely day out with Sorrel. Can I come too? I have to do a dog walk, and then check and bank some Oxfam money from yesterday and do food shopping . Not such a fun morning!!

Good to see the modern fashion gene/jean is alive in Trelawnyd, but I really don't like torch songs. Nevertheless, she sang well. Queue the 100 year old Vera Lynn for something rousing and feel good.

    1. It is not a " torch song " .. it was written by George David Weiss and Sam Cooke and Louis Armstrong sang it .. it is a Ballad. and Israel Kama out his own *my favorite* spin on it .
A "torch song" is generally about unrequited love ..

  4. A very effective, and affecting, performance from Chelsea. Her soulful timbre, allied to the unadorned guitar, gives the song a very reflective feel. Quite enchanting. Has she done many public performances?

  5. This is one of my favorite songs and she sang it well. She sounds like Eva Cassidy.

  6. She's better than Louis Armstrong even if he could afford a new pair of trousers.

  19. Britain and places like London, Coventry and Liverpool stood up to Hitler and his Blitzkrieg for 18 months before the Americans came to lend a hand. One of my uncles flew a Spitfire in the Battle of Britain.

  20. Her voice is fresh and clean like a drink of fresh water in a Summer day, and I wish someone with a good ear and a better training will take her by the hand and help her become the singer that one can hear already. And indeed, no matter what hate keeps on throwing at us, I too believe ours is a beautiful world. Taking my last Summer Mason beads yesterday from the refrigerator and letting them go into the open air, rain and all it just gave me hope for a beautiful coming Spring.

  23. Hello Liz,

right now ours are outside getting to grow and ready to make babies. The Summer Masons were what we called them from the beginning when we started to raised them over 15 years ago, to differentiated the local or native bees from the visitors. In Oregon we can get a wild variety some years, visitors from a bit faraway, so we have a couple of different homes for them. They do not invade each other, and we keep them far away enough not to mix them, although some years one or two are from the other side; You can tell which ones are which when you take them in to clean them and put them in the coolest place you have to spend the winter, traditionally the refrigerator. The local ones we have found some time they play even in the early Summer thus their name, while the other ones once the home is filled they are gone unless you fill another place with clean reeds and paper liners. Since my husband died I stopped doing that as the work is long and not for just one person. At least this one person.

I am sorry if I confused you, it is easier to forget after so many years that the name is just ours and because our friends are accustomed to my eccentricities, I don't think about it at all.

    Allegra

(And apologies John, I didn't know how to make this briefer and clear)
