Guilt

We have had emotions today....have we not?
Grief ( post 1)
Horror ( post 2)
And now post 3 = guilt

The Prof is at some posh meal in London
And on the way home after Sams this evening
I bought and devoured a scotch egg almost without chewing!

Be still my fucking beating heart!!!!!!

  1. no guilt necessary; you were hungry, you ate some food.

  3. Good, you should revel every mouthful. I use this trick and sometimes it works. I tell myself nothing will taste better than that first bite.

  4. Are you sure it was only one scotch egg? I thought they came in packs of two...

  5. As to your last sentence: be careful what you wish for. Mine did, for a memorable 6 seconds during the night on the previous holter. As you know, it's called asystole.
    Cheers,
    Mike

  6. I think you need to phone The Samaritans yourself. They may be able to help you with your addiction.

  8. That's why dieting sucks. All that torment trying not to eat your favorite foods, and then you didn't even enjoy it when you did eat it. Everything in moderation is the best answer, and when you do eat a favorite, savour it and enjoy it guilt free!!

  9. I did read in the comment section that it was TWO Scotch Eggs...John.....really.

  10. In Oz we have a biscuit called an Iced Vo Vo and yesterday I found a recipe for an Iced Vo Vo in pavlova form. I sort of went into a daze, my eyes glazed over, I drooled, I'm drooling now so my sympathy is entirely with you. I'm sick of all this research into obesity and fat people, when it's so simple, you like Scotch Eggs and I like an Iced Vo Vo.

  11. Scotch eggs are low in carbs and therefore good for you! Think of them as health food, mate!

  12. The only reason to be guilty about that egg would be if someone else, tall dark and handsome, bought it for you and kissed you goodbye.

    lol

  15. I'm buying a box of Godiva truffles to split with my sweetie on Valentines Day. And to hell with the diet for that one day! I won't feel guilty one bit!

  16. That was confession, wasn't it? Do you feel the need for absolution?

  17. What is so wrong with a scotch egg John? A boiled egg encased in sausage meat and rolled in breadcrumbs. It is only the deep fried bit that is the problem! I love a scotch egg with a mini pork pie and some good pickle or chutney washed down with a lager shandy!

  20. When I finished work yesterday & nipped to the Co-Op for some bits for supper I very uncharacteristically grabbed a packet of Lindt mini eggs at the checkout & started scoffing them while walking home & finished them off once home with my feet up. No guilt just pleasure.

  21. I would have done the same, but with a Pork Pie.

  22. Funny, I'm totally immune to guilt. I do what I need to do, or what seems right in the circumstances, and that's it. If it turns out later I did the "wrong" thing, I just apologise or put it right. Guilt is a very negative emotion, it eats away at you.

  23. All good things in moderation - it is good to hear you really enjoyed it.

  24. Why do we mix pleasure with guilt? Life is short and Is challenging at times. Eat on and enjoy.

Don't feel "guilt" on account of a scotch egg or two. It's YOUR body and you can, god damn it, do with it what you want.

What you should feel guilty about, and shame over you (only joking), that to this day you haven't mentioned once my gracious, not to say gratuitous, gift of a de luxe selection of Scotch eggs sent to you on occasion of your wedding (the Prof, him of some sophistication, got a bottle to help you wash it all down). Whatever you do, John, don't grovel.

    Yours,
    U

  26. I think its fine to go wild now and then. A whole bar of chocolate after dinner has been my downfall in the past. Feeling sick is the punishment which makes it ok.

  27. Oh dear. I'm pleased to say my scotch-egg eating phase is well behind me. Sadly the mere mention of them still makes my mouth water.

  28. Oh, my. One Scotch egg and you feel guilty. That should be the worst of your sins.

  29. Maybe it was those picnic sized ones...or maybe not mwahahaha...if we're confessing it's not that many weeks ago that I shovelled an entire box of Turkish Delight into my craw at high speed...it was mine, but I could have shared with the teenogre...instead I decided to gallantly save him the unwanted calories.Thank goodness I don't buy the stuff.....Arilx

  30. I save my guilt for the Big Stuff. Serious big stuff.
Otherwise, I remember what someone said to me a long time ago, "What are you ? perfect ??"
    :)
