The Chester ' star' outside the cathedral
Yesterday, I had the onerous job of shampooing the cottage carpets. The machine that " does the job" is the size of a small fridge. It sucks the soot from the shag pile with all of the gusto of an elephant with an iced bun up it's trunk ...so satisfying to see litre upon litre of muddy water being tipped down the drain.
Late afternoon I met the Prof in Chester where we did some Christmas shopping and had a welcomed meal out like grown ups. I am working this weekend and Monday he flys out to Norway.
(Norway in December! You couldn't be more Christmassy.!) so we have had to grab some shopping time. It was nice to be able to wear my good shoes for a change!
I will put the Christmas's decorations up this afternoon...
It' s the village Christmas Fayre tomorrow and I am still a little short of bodies to man the kitchen with me. Pat, the animal helper is away so I shall called round to see Mrs Trellis and Eirlys the chicken farmer later. I'm sure both can be relied upon!
I'll leave you with this standout samba from Strictly, You honestly couldn't tell that Danny Mac is an amateur ! Amazing......watch this, it will give you a smile and will set you up for nice weekend!
Their dance was the best I've ever seen on Strictly, just magnificent. Danny's a brilliant dancer, but Oti's choreography is inspired.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky is the Prof going to Norway? Hope he takes some nice pics for us!
It sounds like you had a better and much more satisfying day ... and it's always nice to get out of the Crocs ;-)
ReplyDeleteIs Chris going to Norway to see Father Christmas? If that is the case, please tell him he has made a huge boo-boo because Santa lives in Lapland, not Norway. Perhaps he can bring you some delicious "rakfisk" back.
ReplyDeletesounds loverly and SO grown up!
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun, I need to do some cleaning and shopping - soon.
ReplyDeleteI know it takes some of the magic away from the story that SCD is full of well meaning amateurs but Danny has been a West End chorus boy - 21 months in Wicked I think would have given him a considerable lead over the others in the dance stakes.
ReplyDeleteWell looking at him, you just know he's been trained in dance , but it was a fab routine never the less
DeleteProbably the best routine I've ever seen on Strictly. He's brilliant. I wasn't criticising him at all but it's not fair to compare him with people like Rutherford or Balls who really are just turning up and doing their best. Quite frankly, I think he has it in the bag! And he's extremely handsome, which always helps with the public vote.
DeleteThose carpet cleaners are brilliant. I never know whether to be thrilled at how much cleaner my carpets are or horrified they were so filthy in the first place.
ReplyDeleteI hope you play some Christmas music while you put up your decorations, and sing along at the top of your voice. X
Have a good weekend John, Me and him are off to Yorkshire, Richmond to be precise. I love it there and would live there in a heartbeat, Maybe one day ......
ReplyDeleteIt must have been nice for you to see each other
ReplyDeleteWow, that video! Great stuff.
ReplyDeleteGood luck at the Fayre...hope you get some helpers.
ReplyDeleteI'm not into dancing one little bit, but Norway sounds like it could be fun.
ReplyDeleteI love that show !
ReplyDeleteUgh ! carpet shampooing ... when I moved into my new home here, there was a pipe issue and the laundry room which is located upstairs ( demented idea) flooded and it all ran down the carpeted hall and stairs to the tiled first floor ( a real rocket scientist thought this up)
When a few days of huge noisy machines in the flat, finished drying it out, the carpet people came in and shampooed everything. it is so nice when it is all done but I hope never to see another carpet cleaner again.
Next home - wooden/tile floors with rugs. No more carpet.
Yes he was utterly brilliant wasn't he? I must say that on balance i am glad Ed has gone - fun he might have been, but not at the expense of dancers like this.
ReplyDeleteI haven't done a lick of Christmas shopping. Terrible!
ReplyDeleteIt is such a satisfying feeling to toss out the dirt. (Shows you actually did something)
ReplyDeleteThat looks like my Zumba class. :)
ReplyDeleteSnake hips
DeleteMy favourite dance was done by Hayley? It was a bollywood theme and I think it was unbeatable. Danny and Oti did a fine job with this samba too. I'm always disgusted with the amount of sludgy water that comes out of those carpet cleaners. My short haired dog sheds so much hair I could knit a replica of her every couple of days.
ReplyDeleteHayley and Daniel actually skated that brilliant dance on ice (Dancing on Ice, not SCD) - one of the best routines ever - to Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire. I can't even skate in a straight line!
DeleteYou ok val?
DeleteI am always super impressed at how much you get done.
ReplyDeleteNorway? Colour my eyes green.
I am a Strictly Fan so felt I must comment on Danny's dancing. It is so good isn't it and yes, hard to believe he is an amateur.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what may happen Saturday Night, I think the theme is musicals.
Hope the Christmas Fayre goes well
All the best Jan
Nice samba. I'm going to be back in the UK just in time to watch the final. Glad you got to wear your best shoes, hope they didn't hurt.
ReplyDeleteThat was well worth watching - thank you :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun decorating! Just think, you get to do it all YOUR way - no bickering about details! (I'm just basing that on how we decorate)
My entire Xmas shopping consists exclusively of buying a dozen cards - and it's such a chore!
ReplyDeleteWhat carpet cleaner is it? Need one to combat my carpets from kids and cats created filth. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteVideo . . . Danny Mac . . . Samba . . . WOW,
