This is a slow burn of an episode.
With Negan ( Jeffrey Dean Morgan) wisecracking his way into Alexandria ( his jokes and easy manner already getting on everyone's tits including the audience's) we see "team Rick"reacting to the threat in a somewhat interesting and varied way.
As Carl, Michonne and Rosita bubble away with quiet fury. Father Gabriel cleverly covers Maggie's tracks by showing Negan a fake grave ( Negan has already proved himself a talented psychoanalyst by understanding the danger of women scorned)
Rick ( threatened by Daryl and Oliva's deaths) gives away all of Alexandria's weapons and faces the backlash for it even though it is obvious it will buy him and the others some time ....time for perhaps Kingdom and Hilltop to join forces.
I could do without Judith's step dad Andrew Lincoln's goggle eyed overacting but as a stand alone episode this one was an interesting study in psychological warfare, especially as it's the Walking Dead's women who are now stepping up to the plate.
I missed the first 10 minutes. what happened to Maggie, or rather where did she go? to be honest, I am not liking this story line. I despise such cruelty and Negan. surely team Rick will rise again but in the meantime, if Negan is on, I don't want to watch. and I missed your post on the 3rd episode. couldn't find it.
ReplyDeleteMaggie has gone to see the doctor at hilltop with sasha ...
DeleteHow did I miss that about Maggie? I hope we don't have to see Negan the whole season or next. He's worse than that one-eyed guy.
DeleteI had a nightmare about Negan last night. I want him dead or better yet to suffer!
ReplyDeleteIm so over the Reign of Negan already don't know how much more I can handle the Election and Negan all in the same week it's just too much, pour me a Scotch please!
ReplyDeleteThey must have some great writers - y'all sure do get caught up in the story.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen any of the show "The Walking Dead" so I have no understanding of what you're talking about. But I feel like the walking dead. Does that count?
ReplyDeleteSorry John, I've still not seen this show; in fact I've never seen it mentioned as being on TV at all. I presume it's on some pay-TV channel.
ReplyDeleteNegan is tiresome already - he has one note, all lines are delivered in the same way. I hope we don't get too many episodes like last night because I did find it a little tedious.
ReplyDeleteI am loving Negan!!! You need a good villain to stir stuff up! I also fell off my sofa with his parting words to Rick! I hope Negan stays forever!!!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't figure out what Michonne saw burning at the end - apparently the Saviours burnt the mattresses that they had taken from Alexandria.
ReplyDeleteI hate what they are doing to Daryl - I wonder when he will escape, I hope it's soon.
Sx
There is some talk he was morse coding Rick with his eyes!
DeleteI have had ENOUGH of Negan.... someone needs to take him out and take him out soon... My God he's just one person... everybody hates him why do they put up with him?? I don't know how Rick did it...I would have got one good lick in with that bat before they got me.... And Daryl... don't get me started... I hope they all find a way to rise up soon.... because i've about had enough!! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteI'm one of the few people who haven't watched an episode
