Memories

The Prof is away from home again.
So tonight I have a date with a nice bowl of noodles, a low fat chocolate pudding and The Great British Bake Off followed by tv police porn The Force.
I manage very well on my own, which is a positive given the fact the Prof seems to be away so much, but I found myself thinking about him  after hearing Diana Damrau belting out the "Queen of the night"  aria on the radio today.
We held hands briefly when we heard it being performed at the New York Met many years ago.

It still makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up
Even if it is a ditty about murder!

  1. That's sweet, sometimes just a simple gesture like that is so much more memorable than a grand gesture like roses.
I live for noodles, but they make me bloat, hope yours were yummy!

  2. You might manage well on your own but it sounds like you are missing your beloved Prof. Cheer up he'll be home soon.

  3. Enjoy the noodles. Presumably the Prof will be home by the week end.

    2. The Magic Flute was on of our favorites and this brings so many memories. My Mother used to say "you can never forget some emotions no matter how long ago you experienced them, because they become a part of you, with time they are you."

And they are, I get sometimes so lost in my memories that I feel completely inept to live in the now.

  5. A favourite aria! Too bad the Queen of the Night is made out to be the villain of the opera.

  8. I always turn to noodles when alone as well, lots of butter, maybe some pesto. Wash it down with Jameson and I'm good until hubbie comes home. Love the alone time, Love when he comes up the drive.

  9. Speaking as someone for whom Mozart is NOT an indispensable composer (sacrilege, I know) must say that this particular aria is the absolute tops. It tingles like few others.

  10. That chortling singer has one hell of a widow's peak - like Eddie Munster's.

  11. Did you send the Prof an email and tell him that you were thinking of him when the murder song came on? Just kidding, mostly. An email or a text saying 'thinking of you' is always sweet to receive.
