Our beach hut is around the 8th from the left!
Broardstairs is picture postcard pretty!
We opened up the beach hut for a few hours yesterday afternoon and watched the shenanigans of seaside life which included a very inebriated Network Rail worker sharing school boy homophobic jokes with our neighbours!
I couldn't take too much umbrage with him as he seemed like a genuiningly nice bloke
Today , I think I shall sleep on the beach.
I was hoping for a lie in, what with no little ( and big) dog babies demanding walks and such like but the low level yap-yap-yap of a neighbours dog combined with a different bed and the hysterical screeching of the herring gulls around 5am all conspired against restful slumber.
I have eyes like piss holes in snow this morning!
But, the sun is out.
The sky is blue,
My coffee is strong
And I'm writing to you!
Hey ho!
Location, location, location!
ReplyDeletePoor you John, I know how a change of routine can play havoc with your sleeping patterns... I had precisely zilch sleep last night from 11pm to 7.15am when my alarm went off!! Ditto my eyes! On a brighter note hope you have a great break.. enjoy the sun and don't forget to "slop" on the sun screen.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland, NZ
A nice long afternoon nap (in the shade) and life will be wonderful.
ReplyDeleteRest and enjoy....
ReplyDeleteyou're a poet and you don't know it! looks loverly, john!
ReplyDeleteHave a good time. If it's any consolation, we have the same gull problem here in Bath, and we are not even on holiday.
ReplyDeleteThe sun is out.
ReplyDeleteThe grass has riz.
O to be where
John and the Prof is.
Have a good holiday and, well, that's it really.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so retro!
ReplyDeleteI like your little rhyme. Don't get sun burnt!
ReplyDelete"Piss holes in snow" you say . . .
ReplyDeleteYou are a hoot . . .
Have a good snooze, in a nice shady spot x
ReplyDeleteHolidays are generally more entertaining than they are restful, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteKnickerbocker-glories at dawn?
ReplyDeleteI love the postcard!
ReplyDeletePretty 'postcard'
ReplyDeleteand I must say sounding a lot happier and more relaxed.
ReplyDelete"But, the sun is out.
ReplyDeleteThe sky is blue,
My coffee is strong
And I'm writing to you!"
Oh my goodness. I love this. And perfectly describes my own morning over here on the other side of the pond! :)
Thank you for sending along this holiday postcard.
ReplyDeleteAs someone else has written, remember that sunscreen before you return to the land of nod.
Best wishes.
It looks lovely, and you've probably got the best few days of the summer! Very typical traditional seaside - reminds me of when I used to live in Southwold with similar beach huts. Enjoy your well-deserved break xxx
ReplyDeleteHave a good holiday. Ignore the rail worker.
ReplyDeleteI think those beach huts are so cute. Do you actually sleep in them? For some reason I thought they were only for day use. What about toilet facilities? Pardon my ignorance. We don't have them in Canada and I've only seen them on TV.
ReplyDeleteYou dont sleep in them, you use them during the day so you were right. Nice for days at the seaside, sitting and having cups of tea
DeleteNice going, John!!! I have never seen beach huts, thought they only existed in Jaques Tatis pictures!!! I hope you have a lovely stay with good food, good conversation and lots of rest. Your zoological garden seem to be well taken care of. Enjoy!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, "Mr. Hulot's Holiday!" One of my favorite films.
DeleteMine too, especially the windy lobby and the turmoil at the railwaystation!!!!
DeleteSounds like a splendid opportunity to chill John....have a great time.x
ReplyDeleteI was woken by the Red Kites screaming their bloody heads off in that unmistakable squeal of theirs yesterday. Later on in the day I was on my neighbours campsite website and he was encouraging potential campers to come and marvel at the lovely Red Kites that have taken up residence in the area in the last couple of years.
ReplyDeleteThe bloody things must have followed us again, when we moved to Oxfordshire their numbers were climbing to unprecedented levels, when we moved on to Berkshire they followed us there and the neighbours all marvelled at their aerial acrobatics, and now they are here with a vengeance.
I'll be sleeping with the window firmly closed tonight!!
Have a wonderful holiday. xx
Don't sleep too long in the sun. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy every moment the two of you.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about Winnie - she'll be into her third roast beef sandwich by now !
Enjoy your time away with the prof.
ReplyDeleteI predict the next photo will show a sunburned JG :)
ReplyDeleteI love those little huts. We need those here at our beaches in Canada.
Enjoy
ReplyDeleteEnjoy
ReplyDeletePiss holes in snow....
ReplyDeleteYou made my day. Have a wonderful time!!!
I used to go to Broadstairs a lot. It was charmingly unspoilt and uncommercialised. It looks like it's still much the same. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI never sleep properly the first night of a holiday - all those mysterious sounds I'm not used to and can't identify....
Those beach huts are the cutest. Please explain to me what you do with them?
