I should have known better.
In the last post I mentioned that I've not been worried about the animals
And a few hours later my sister rings with the news that George has something wrong with his jaw.
A sudden foul smelling mass which looks suspect according to the vet who examined him
The Prof and I tried so very hard to smile through a family dinner tonight
But I suspect we failed miserably.

So sorry to hear that John. Hope it will be ok. Love to you and prof. Xx
ReplyDeleteAlways when you go away. I think it is an infected tooth. I don't think it would come up so sudden and be smelling if it were too serious. Don't worry (easy to say.)
ReplyDelete:(
ReplyDeletec'mon, george, pull through for your daddies.

Noooo!
ReplyDeletePoor old man. I hope it's a mass of foul smelling nothing serious.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I hope George is okay.
ReplyDeleteRough had a swelling pop up - was an abscess and the vet had to pull teeth. If that's the case, I know you will take him to your most trusted vet.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought, also, was that it might be an abscessed tooth. Which isn't the worst thing that could happen.
ReplyDeleteI had a Standard Poodle who had the same exact thing .. it seemed like from one minute to the next.
ReplyDeleteVets fixed it ... he lived a long life after that ... try not to worry too much, says the person who worries about every little thing ..
much love ! C & the Cats
And yes, life does have a way of throwing a curve ball now and then.
There are these things called Benign Clusters too .. smelly, lumps, in the mouth.. if a tooth is bad / abscessed .. try not to imagine the worst.
DeleteI am so sorry. I hope all goes well.
ReplyDeleteOh no ... the first thing I thought of was an abscessed tooth as well. Poor George. And there's nothing can ruin your holiday quicker than illness of someone you love, no matter if that's a human or a pet. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteI am so sad to hear this news. Hopefully the others who commented that it might be a tooth problem are correct. Holding good thoughts for George, you and the Prof.
ReplyDeleteOh No Not George !
ReplyDeleteLove that Scotty.
I think it might just be a tooth.
arooooooo xx
cheers, parsnip and thehamish
Sending positive thoughts from Texas. (As a pet parent I know it's hard not to worry though.)
ReplyDeletePoor baby. Sending love and good wishes from way west across the pond.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, poor thing. No doubt some antibiotics will soon do the job. Don't worry; you're on holiday.
ReplyDeletePoor little George. GWS.
ReplyDeletePoor George, sounds like an abscess. Don't worry, but of course you will!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, hope it is alright. Animals always manage to throw a curve ball.
ReplyDeleteHopefully it will be something easily resolved...a tooth problem maybe that will be sorted with antibiotics and no more worries.x
ReplyDeletepoor George, I'm sure a visit to the Vet's will put everything right x
ReplyDeleteMy little terrier used to get occassional infections right in the joint of her jaw. It would make her lethargic and unable to eat. It stank too. A good dose of antibiotics used to help. She lived to eighteen. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it's just something similar. X
ReplyDeleteChildren and creatures have a knack of making you worry just when you think you've got everything covered. Poor George, must be painful for him, some antibiotics should do the trick. He's with your sis' so he'll be getting lots of love and attention.
ReplyDeleteJean
Poor George! Hope he gets it sorted soon and well, not too expensively . xxx
ReplyDeleteOh no hopefully it'll be tooth related try to enjoy your hols x
ReplyDeleteOh no poor George. Hopefully it is a tooth or he has had a little bit of rough play that has become infected. Lots of antibiotics and he will be right again.
ReplyDeleteLets hope for good reports from the vet....something easy. Maybe tooth related?
ReplyDeleteI do hope everything works out well, take care, DG
ReplyDeleteI hope it is not as bad as you fear John. x
ReplyDeleteHopefully it'll turn out to be an abscess that will be swiftly treated with some antibiotics and a good clean out. Thinking positive and healthy dog thoughts. xx
ReplyDeleteHopefully it is nothing serious.
ReplyDeleteI hope George, and you and the Prof will be OK. All good thoughts and all that good stuff to you all. xx
ReplyDeletePoor George - sounds like an abscess, and hopefully antibiotics will clear it quickly and he'll be fine by the time you get home.
ReplyDeleteHope it goes well for George.
ReplyDeletePoor sister. I feel for her.
ReplyDeletePoor sister. I feel for her.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what Donna has said. All will be well.

ReplyDeletePoor George I hope its nothing to serious, at least he is in good hands.
ReplyDeleteOh dear . . .
ReplyDeleteThat is soo typical!! Poor George and poor you!! He is in good hands, take it easy. We've been through that and the anxiety is massive but mostly it works out quite well. But I know, you want to be there....
ReplyDeleteTry not to worry until you absolutely have to. That's what an animal would do. We have much to learn from them.
ReplyDeleteSending good vibes to George...hope all is well.

Awww... that sounds nasty, thank goodness he is with family and not at the kennels.
ReplyDeleteOur Border Collie Sophie decided to up and die while we were on holiday in Guernsey. The phone call from my Mum at 7.30 in the morning to let us know meant that we were both in tears over breakfast at the hotel ... everyone must have thought we'd had a real humdinger of a row!!
