The latter garden is not too bad but it is very English. Yes, I know, different place, but it is very English. Lots of colour and even Agapanthus which flourishes here in high heat with little water.

    1. I wouldn't necessarily say 'very English' more like a traditional cottage garden ... in England, Scotland or Wales ;-)

  2. I would love to just pull up a chair and sit in the sun/or shade and see and smell that place for just a while. I think when you yourselves, stop and just take a break from whatever you are doing, sometimes, you still marvel at the place where you call home :)
A greenhouse is so wonderful to have .. someone I knew once upon a time had one and there were fans at the top, on each end, blowing all day. I think you will have flowers much longer since they will be sheltered, even into times of frost, right ?

  7. It just occurred to me that the yards in Asheville, North Carolina are very much like English gardens. My son-in-law calls them "yardens." Love the flower bicycle!
    All very lovely.

  12. I would love to walk with the Judge. Beautiful GREEN lush gardens with so many flowers. Not at all like a water saving desert gardens we have in Tucson.
    I love the flower bike.

  13. Beautiful spaces. What a good incentive to keep up the gardens when one might be inclined to let things go because it's too hot (or is that only me?)

  18. All breathtaking. Wow. And I especially love cottage gardens. I had lots of friends in the States who tried to reproduce the look -- some very successfully. But Trelawnyd is in a class all its own!

  19. Does Mr Butler have a first name? I am thinking Lancelot... like Capability Brown... or maybe Zayn like that lad who left One Direction.

  23. I tried to do a cottage garden here, but clay soil and unrelenting summer heat put an end to that. Now I have a few succulents and bulbs in place and I'm leaving it alone for a year to see what survives before I plant more.

  25. Gardens are like people in that they are individuals and reflect character, temperament and personality. I always find it difficult to judge gardens as I do appreciate the work and thought brought into each.
    These are beautiful ones!
