The latest series of The Great British Sewing Bee has been ever so slightly lacklustre only because most of the characters involved have not been that interesting tv fodder.
The winner , Charlotte made a late spurt in the interest stakes by making her final model the step mom of her kids......how so very Hollywood!
Bring back the Bake Off
I'm just starting to watch the latest Bake Off series here. Damn but I love that show. And the weird thing is- my husband does too! And he mostly watches the hunting channel. I kid you not. There is such a thing. And he watches it.
ReplyDeleteMy husband took to the Bake Off series too. Rather surprising as he can just about make toast and boil the kettle. At least that's more than his Father could do.
DeleteMy husband can't cook either. Weird.
DeleteI told him about the Great Sewing Bee series and he said, "Wow. The British get all the good stuff."
I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic though.
when is the Bake Off due to come back? do you know?
ReplyDeletewhen is the Bake Off due to come back? do you know?
ReplyDeleteSoon dearheart soon
ReplyDeleteI caught this episode tonight, the first I've ever watched, and thought it quite good. Obviously my expectations are pretty low these days, but yes, bring back Bake Off asap.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I are fans of the Bake Off. Cannot imagine watching a sewing show. Just seems so slow and lackluster!
ReplyDeleteThe new season of The Bake Off just started here - fun, fun, fun!
ReplyDeleteWho knew there was a BB Sewing Bee !?? I'm sorry, but I think that might put me to sleep...
Are the producers running out of ideas?
ReplyDeleteA sewing bee ? good god.
ReplyDeleteAs a sewer I would like that, I think ... but I don't watch TV :)
ReplyDeleteI think they should have left it as a one season show!
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding? A bunch of us who have sewing blogs get together at my house and watch the downloads together (thanks for the spoiler :P) and it is blisteringly exciting to us! We shout at the TV like men watching rugby - "NO! Not that seam finish, what are you doing???!!!" "Other side! Other side! DOH!!!" "Ooooh, look at that pattern matching, nice!!" etc etc. It helps a lot if you know what you're looking at! We call CW Fringey twatface, affectionately of course.
ReplyDeleteI am with you, I really wanted Charlotte to win, (and being my favorite in a competition is usually the kiss of death) so I was really happy! Having said that I thought Jade was amazing too.
DeleteI like this programme because I sew and it does inspire me, although some of the sewing is naff. I catch up with it via YouTube, so I shall have a hunt on YT to see if some kindly soul has posted it up.
ReplyDeleteLacklustre summed it up for me completely, very nearly didn't bother watching it. No great characters from the start, I thought, no-one with much oomph about them, no eccentricity. I didn't take to Charlotte from the start.
ReplyDeleteI love the judges, and I think Claudia is the right presenter for the show. It may well have run its course now. Celebrity Sewing Bee anyone? lol
A very deserving winner though John, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteOh bollocks...I hadnt watched it yet !
ReplyDeleteNope, not something I've ever watched - meant to take a look, but somehow never got round to it. Same with Bake-off.
ReplyDeleteNope .... I've never fancied this show and never watched it, bring me the Bake Off any day.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed watching it but this wasn't the best of the series. Although I still get the giggles thinking about the disastrous baby gro that Ghislaine made.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping Jade would win, such talent for a 19 year old. No fan of Charlotte and her moth eaten slippers.
