Light Relief

Yin/Yang
Strawberries/cream,
Nigel Farage/ arseholes

Some things go together and compliment each other nicely.
Today, we've had a glum post, now a few hours later things have, as they have a want to do, picked up nicely.

First Liv and Eve ( the daughters of the affable despots Claire and Jason) called round with a birthday card then, I spied local landscaper and all round bouncy character Chris Cairns up to something at the village noticeboard.
Now Chris is one of life's enthusiasts!  He is a smiler and a chatter, and is a man who can lift a droopy spirit with a story of the mundane which has been blossomed by excitement and positivism, and today he was hanging up a notice for the whole village, to share in some good  news.

The news, was indeed good....Chris had seen a Red Kite fly over his house which is located on the other side of the village. Now although they are a common sight in Mid Wales, it is rare to see them up here in Flintshire and Chris was cock a hoop about it.
"Put it in your blog thing" he told me and I promised to do so
" It's a bit of nice news" he added " and we all need a bit of nice news"
Aint that the truth!

  4. My silly Welsh village had a notice board with chicken wire, glass, and a lock on it. It was reserved for the PARISH COUNCIL to deliver bad news.

  5. This all made my morning sweeter. Thank you, John, and tell Mr. Cairns that I wish I could have seen his Red Kite fly over and that someone all the way across the ocean is glad of this news.

  6. It's nice to see that other people get excited when they see a bird. I get excited when William the Woodpecker visits my feeder.

  8. My son was sure he spotted a Red Kite locally the other day. I'm a few mile away from you but still in Flintshire. Very good news indeed. We do have some buzzards nesting locally x

  10. I hope they find the careless child who let go of the string - and give him/her a sound thrashing.

  11. Belated Happy Birthday wishes to you! I have been enjoying having a bit of a catch up of your recent posts. I like the sound of your village noticeboard. It's good to learn that new folks have moved to the village. (I did take a look at real estate listings in Trelawnyd via a google search, and did a bit of dreaming about what life would be like there.)
    Best wishes.

  14. We have two which I think are nesting in our woodland or just behind our trees and further along the hill. They gave me a wonderful display yesterday when I was in the paddock with the dogs, they were chasing away a third Kite that was determined to encroach on their space.

It seems the Red Kites follow us wherever we go. Deemed rare around these parts, when we lived in Oxfordshire the numbers rose so much the local residents were told to stop putting food out for them. When we moved to Berkshire we were excitedly informed by our landlord that Kites had been spotted in the area, by the time we left there were lots of them swooping around. Then exactly the same happened when we bought this house, Kev who we bought it off told us that a couple of Kites had been spotted flying over the river. Now they give us a free show most nights with their strange and unique call.

  16. God bless him ... excitement over seeing a bird, a particular flower or plant, an animal ... all wonderful traits that adults need to hang on to or learn again.
I still get goofy when the clouds form amazing shapes , the skies are pretty nice where I live, as they are in Buenos Aires, the clouds look solid and massive and close.
I also get excited about the raccoons that came out of the forest and ate at the neighbors bird feeder.
I know that is not a good thing but it sure was great to see.
A Red Kite ... how very cool :)

  21. I'm glad you've got a red kite and a Chris. Your comment about Farage made me laugh. I watched Question Time last night (don't know why it just makes me mad). Neil Hamilton was on and his reply to every question was immigration or foreigners, odious man. They needed a Chris on their panel.
