Spot the fat knee
I went to work for just two hours last night.
My right knee had suddenly swollen up during the day and had become so painful that I overcame my usual shyness with medics and asked the SHO on intensive care to give it a prod for me.
" you have a fat knee" he told me
" It's bursitis and you need to rest and elevate it" he added
Not something you want to hear at the start of a 12 hour shift.
Anyhow I took myself home and as I drove up to the cottage I spied the Prof with all four dogs ( with Albert) in the lane. It had started to rain.
I told him that I had come home to rest my fat knee
And he handed me the leads....saying " The dogs need a pee"
So much for sympathy!
Anyhow I will leave you with Charlotte's Novelty Veg photo! Thank you Charlotte for overcoming the general apathy I have noticed in this year's potential competitors ! So many of you have been overfaced by Rachel's high standard logo!
I need at least 30 more photos please.....
Bursitis is painful. V painful. I hope yours eases off quickly.
ReplyDeleteI have the same kind of spouse.... You have sympathy from me - I do hope your knee does feel better quickly.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think you still wanted/needed photos. I've got one I'll send on Wednesday.
I hope your pain goes away soon, my husband had bursitis in his shoulder .. he was not averse to taking any drug lol
ReplyDeleteThe little veggie creature is adorable.. what is it supposed to be ?
Just cute ? if so, it is a winner.
hmmm...I hope the Prof doesn't think a little TLC is one-sided.
ReplyDeleteHaving suffered from Fat Knee for the past 25 years, my dear wife now has exactly the same. It's good to be able to return all the sympathetic words I've received over the years, like "Oh for goodness sake, do stop complaining".
ReplyDeleteMy sympathies. I have bursitis in my shoulder and I get about the same reaction from DH about it.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's sounds exactly like the sympathy I get when I have a fat/painful anything limb. I hope it's already better this morning, John. Love the novelty veg owl - owl's being one of my favorite birds. xx
ReplyDeleteWell, I live alone so I just hobble about, groan, wince, and flop down somewhere!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, your poor knee. Is it really called fat knee ?
ReplyDeleteI immediately had this picture in my mind of the Prof. surrounded with the pack of gud dugs ! That would be a fabulous photo.
Love the owl, it is one of my favorite birds also.
Rachel's apple entry is indeed very clever and I like it.
But for me, I have not the same excitement as last year show with all the fabulous entries being posted every day and crazy excitement leading up to the show, . And then to have it fall flat when the entry of balls and penis, got us all banned from the show, It was a big let down.
But I have an idea with a veg and fruit that grows here in Arizona. So I am getting interested again. But only after I repair all the monsoon storm damage to my home first.
Hope your knee feel better soon !
cheers, parsnip and thehamish xoxo
I hope you find a way to get the rest your knee needs. I've had hip bursitis and it was not much fun. Your knees are important - tell Chris you need some help!
ReplyDeleteOh dear. I am in trouble for so much at the moment. Please don't be fazed by my applemac logo, it is not so fun as seeing lots of crazy animals, made up or imagined, even with plastic eyes. i made up the story about a ban last year as a joke not knowing that some of you had taken it seriously. Sorry. sorry sorry Sorry about your knee too John and hope it is soon better Rachelxxx
ReplyDeleteHusband had bursitis on his elbow - of all places ! It was horrible - a great lump of wobbly flesh hanging down from the joint. No treatment, just told to rest it, and it would go. It did, and then came back again on a couple of occasions.
ReplyDeleteThe fruit and veg entries are so clever, John, and such a high standard, that we "mere" mortals have no chance !
Hope your knee heals soon....perhaps it is your body's way of saying you need to rest more?
ReplyDeleteThat sounds so painful John. I hope you can rest. My brother suffers from cellulitis but doesn't get much opportunity to rest.
ReplyDeleteLove all the dogs and Albert walking together x
My right knee suffers in exactly the same way, and has done for about 12 years. It flares up occasionally, then goes down again - but never right down. Bursitus is it? Now I know. It feels like it will burst.
ReplyDeleteI always wondered what bursitis is. (I guess I still don't know, except that it causes a fat knee!) Anyway, take care of it, and prevail upon the prof to let you off the hook a bit. :)
ReplyDeleteAwwwwww .... there you are sympathy 😉
ReplyDeleteI suppose it's better than a fat head. But, yeah, very painful. Hope you recover quickly. I've got it in my hips and shoulders and regular stretching (OK, and the right exercise) keeps it at bay. I have no clue what one does for a fat knee -- other than rest. I would have walked the dogs for you, poor baby! Now, do you want some tea to go with that sympathy?
ReplyDeleteIs that the same as Housemaids' Knee? x
ReplyDeleteWe're still working on ours! When's the deadline?
ReplyDeleteAug 1st x
DeleteSorry about the bursitis *(and also the lack of sympathy from the Prof) - still haven't had any inspiration for the novelty photograph.
ReplyDeleteEven a shit one would do xx
DeleteHello John. I have a photo, I can't find your email address.
ReplyDeleteIt's in the previous post News.

DeleteThank you xxx
DeleteWhat? The gourd last year got us banned? I missed that.
ReplyDeleteYou have to do better this year xx
DeleteThe competition is far too talented for me to compete. I have loved each entry.
ReplyDeleteI suppose everything growing out of proportion can be painful, a knee is kind of important to carry the rest of the body. Sorry about the Profs lack of empathy, that's love for you! I actually wanted to comment on all your recent posts but you have comments enough to deal with. I just wanted to thank you for that lovely Bus-story, it really cleared things out, pity she didn't agree. I also appreciate your comments on that Mustang-film, it will come up in the Filmstudio this autumn and I look forward to it. Yesterday evening we attended Independence Day.......too much of everything including pepperoni, that picture of Will Smith on the wall made us wonder what amount it contributed on his paycheck. You were absolutely right about the film, but I still love Jeff Goldblum and Judd Hirsch.... poor London, by the way, was that a metaphor or a prophecy I wonder?
