Doesn't this illustrate the seismic shift that's taken place!! Not so many years ago the police and army were the most homophobic institutions we had - at least here in New Zealand... over there too? Hurray!!!
I'm delighted for them, but hate to see public marriage proposals of any sort. If my husband had proposed to me in front of a crowd, my answer would have been a resounding 'NO'! I don't understand this need some folk have to 'share' what should be a private, romantic and intimate moment.
I can remember being on gay pride marches in London in the seventies, when the marchers would ask the cops if they were gay or not. They never got any response beyond a sheepish grin. How things have changed.
And how lovely that the crowd was so happy for them.
