I had completely forgotten about the Janet and John episodes. And before the watershed too!! Thanks John Gray not to be confused with.....John and his scuff marks. I dont know tho.
The cats heard this and came slinking in to see who was in the room with me. They stayed a minute. Then left. Obviously not their sort of humor. Or they didn't like the way I was laughing .
I can vouch for this if you need a laugh in a big way, listen to this. I have heard it twice now. It makes a difference .. instead of just crying, I listened and started laughing so hard I cried. I love the wheezy laugh .. and they sounded like they were crying too ... I think I have to listen to this every morning. ♡
Oh I love this tribute! I ended up laughing more and more as the story progressed. I grew up in Southern Rhodesia, (Zimbabwe) in the late fifties, I was home-schooled through Trinity College of London. Among other school work, we had Janet and John stories. Jo xx
Oh, why did my computer sound have to conk out recently. I've heard so much about these 'Janet and John' thingies of Terry's but don't know (or have forgotten?) what they are. Drat!
I heard this yesterday while driving. Nearly went off the road because I was laughing so hard. Thought myself it might make a good blog post. You beat me to it. x
I've spent many a happy time listening to Tel and his Janet & John tales! He got away with saying things at Auntie Beeb that anyone else would have been dragged over the coals for, such irreverence deserves to be rewarded! We met Terry once many years ago at a summer fete in Marlow, we had a photo taken of him with his arms around mum and me and he signed a cheque for us........unfortunately the cheque was from my dad's cheque book, it was the only paper we had with us to get TW's autograph! He was lovely, such a very, very nice man! He'll be very much missed, for his humour, his caring nature and for the wonderful work he did for Children in Need!
I never heard him do 'Janet and John'. I wish I'd known about it sooner. Thanks for sharing the laughs John (and Terry)on this grey and miserable Saturday morning! x
If anyone here doesn't know about Terry Wogan and "Janet and John" then I suggest you google it. I spent a long time on a long drive to work listening to Terry. How I managed to stay on the road whilst listening to 'Janet and John' I will never know.
