I picked Mary up from the groomers at 4 pm
I didn't recognise her when I walked in.
for she had lost her puppy look and had been transformed into a true Welsh Terrier.
I put her in the passenger seat for the journey home
and she sat quietly by my side
with bright brown eyes

Suddenly I felt just a tad emotional,
as I realised that
I now had my co pilot back
I'm happy for you. Good girl, Mary.
ReplyDeleteShe sure lost that 'puppy' look. Very classy, Mary!
ReplyDeleteDeja vu.
ReplyDeleteShe looks very smart x
Lovely
ReplyDeleteLovely
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful and the puppy is still in there ... a new haircut won't banish her puppy-ness :)
ReplyDeleteYou, Mary, and the angel on her shoulder. It's nice when things fall into place.

ReplyDeleteAw...
ReplyDeleteShe's so pretty-handsome. Look at those bright eyes. She makes a fine co-pilot.
Your little girl has grown up.
ReplyDeleteOh My Goodness she has grown up before our eyes and we didn't notice.
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful John.
cheers, parsnip
When I first read this, my brain substituted Meg for Mary. I thought you had slipped up and written the old girl's name. Then I reread it and realized I had slipped up. Seeing her with her new grown up look made me think 'Meg'...
ReplyDeleteXoxo
Sweet thing!
ReplyDeleteAhh, little Mary is growing up. She won't replace Meg in your heart but isn't it wonderful to have a new co-pilot?
ReplyDeleteSweet moment, and a very handsome look for Mary.
ReplyDeleteHer first grown up hairstyle. She looks very proud.
ReplyDeleteThat pic is priceless....and I can't blame you for feeling a little emotional.........she's not a replacement but how wonderful to have a co-pilot again..x
ReplyDeleteShe looks very intent............and beautiful x
ReplyDeleteOh John, she looks so grown up, and I think very aware of her responsibilities as your new co-pilot. May you have many happy years driving together.
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling! Happy trails!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great looking dog!
ReplyDeletelook at how big she's grown! meg sent mary to you.
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful. How did she get along at the groomer's? Or is that a story for another day?
ReplyDeleteShe was friendly but a bit of a handful according to the groomer.......also she barked the place down
Deleteawwwww...as it should be!
ReplyDeleteYou have made me consider a Welsh terrier for me ... after I move. If I get a puppy with 2 cats already in the house, things should be ok .. here is the breeders photo

Sweet! I would suggest a dog rather than a bitch for a first welsh, they tend to be slightly more loyal

DeleteThis is the website .. in Missouri , god help me ..
Yes, I would like a little boy pup. There is no room in my house for another bitch :)
DeleteWell, that brought a tear to my eye. Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Mary. Well groomed. Love terriers.
ReplyDeleteThe groomers have done a wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteI choked up when I read your post. Lovely Mary!
ReplyDeleteMemories of that awful post of last year
DeleteI love this. She's quite the co-pilot.
ReplyDeleteAnd, as you say John, true Welsh terrier indeed from that photograph.
ReplyDeleteMeg V2.0
ReplyDeleteDo dogs believe in reincarnation?

ReplyDeleteAwwwww.
ReplyDeleteAwww ..... she's a worthy co-pilot. It must have given you goose bumps to glance to your left and see a mini Meg ..... those are hard paw prints to fill :-)
ReplyDeleteOmg. When I started to read this and as I write this I am teary remembering dear Meg's final drive as your co pilot. Makes me happy knowing there is another co pilot in your life . Much love to you and remembering your first little co pilot Meg xxx
ReplyDeleteYour post made me all teary eyed.....Such a sweet co-pilot!
ReplyDeleteI remember picking our Airedale up after her first grooming session when all her puppy coat was gone. I didn't recognise her either. Rather a disconcerting feeling isn't it? She looked rather like Mary, love the looong terrier face.
ReplyDeleteThe prof knew what he was doing all along!
ReplyDeleteTears. xxx
ReplyDeleteJust what I had been thinking! I bet along with tears, it sent shivers down your spine... Having a new co-pilot should help you once again navigate through life.
ReplyDeleteAnd that is just what I need too ... I might have to name mine John .. :)
ReplyDeleteShe's lovely John, and she's grown up way too fast!
ReplyDeleteThat face!! Deja vu indeed.
ReplyDeleteShe's so beautifull!they grow up so quickly!i would love another little Doggie!
ReplyDeleteI've just been listening to Cristo on LBC Radio saying that his two small dogs were completely shaved by his 'groomer'. He wasn't pleased.
ReplyDeleteThat brought a tear to my eye...
ReplyDeleteThis is sad and happy at the same time.
