The cottage living room is at it's best in low lighting
The fire is lit, as are the candles.
The Archers is on the radio.
Winnie is asleep and snoring on the hearth rug.
William and George are on the couch.
Peaceful?
Hell no......
Mary and Albert are wrestling under our bed and by the yapping levels
Albert is winning
Time for a gin and tonic
Perfect. Just perfect.
ReplyDeleteLooks so cozy and inviting...
ReplyDeleteI can see me knitting by the fire...
DeleteGo Albert!!!
ReplyDeleteAll is calm, all is bright. NOT. Now isn't this Christmas.
ReplyDeleteNever a dull moment then.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be loverly ...
ReplyDeleteI always cheer for the cat. :)
ReplyDeleteHe's still winning

ReplyDeleteDumb puppy
ReplyDeleteIt does look peaceful - of course I can't hear the commotion
ReplyDeleteYou can referee the fight with a gin and tonic in your hand. A good evening's entertainment.
ReplyDeleteI love this post, I was just getting all sentimental looking at your soft focus picture... enjoy your G and T! -Jenn
ReplyDeleteIts not that romantic...its a tin of gin and tonic from marks
DeleteSo beautiful. (my bulldog is snoring here).
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely perfect John.
ReplyDelete(one of our Labs is snoring too !)
I too look at my best in low lighting...
ReplyDeleteAnd not as good as your lving room.
Lol...meee too
DeleteHah! me three
DeleteAnother hour has passed and william hasgone up tbe stairs to join in ..i'm on my second gin and tonic can
ReplyDeleteHave a double. X
ReplyDeleteI don't listen to The Archers any more - too stressy having to listen to Rob Titchner weaving his evil web. A session of animal fisticuffs is much more relaxing.
ReplyDeleteJane........emma will come to the drippy helen's rescue
DeleteOk I'll believe you. Just email me when he's got his come uppance please :).
DeleteCats rule.ok.
ReplyDeleteAlbert hasballs x
ReplyDeletealbert better stand his ground in that group! being a cat, he must enjoy it or he would be gone. i haven't had a gin and tonic in ages. your hearth looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteSuch a normal home
ReplyDeleteIt sounds EXACTLY like ours....sans Archers.
ReplyDeleteHow I could use a good gin and tonic right now...
ReplyDeleteI had a gin and tonic last week at our teams Xmas lunch. I have a nice bottle of Sapgire gin waiting for me for Xmas with my sister and family in the Subshine Coast hinterland . God I hope I don't collapse before I get there ..... Geez sometimes the lead up to Xmas is like running the marathon , knowing my luck I would collapse 2cm before the finishing line ....
ReplyDeleteAuto spell check I curse you .
ReplyDeleteLeisha, we are having subshine here too :)
ReplyDeleteAll this talk about gin and tonics .. I want to have a drink and be a grown up but living alone with 2 cats, I fear I will look more like an old bag with 2 cats getting drunk.
Who cares what you may look like . There is only you there and your cats , I'm sure they wouldn't judge you . I think if you feel like a gin and tonic have one .
DeleteWhen I could drink, Gin and Tonic it was a favorite !
DeleteHaven't had a drink in 40 years. le sigh
Please have a drink for me.
Notes, you made me laugh ... and I agree with Leisha :)
Delete:)
DeleteTomorrow I will go out and buy gin and tonic and some limes. and chocolate. a lot of chocolate.
I will be found on the floor in the living room, empty bottles on the table .. chocolate all over my face .. cats looking at me with disgust.
One at least of our cats is very partial to chocolate. So my face would be clean...
DeleteI toast you Notes ....
DeleteCats ALWAYS look disgusted (we have three) so go ahead and have your G&T's and chocolate :)
DeleteSo all is well... :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this post! All comfy and cozy with a couple of pooches having a bark in the background...perfect December night in the Wilds of Wales. Our pooch is snoring in front of the fire, too. Life is good, John, hey?! Now if I could find a Scotch egg in Wisconsin.
ReplyDeleteDianne - you could make your own - they are very simple. John will tell you how - or you could use Google.
DeleteThanks! I'll Google if John doesn't respond.
DeleteOOPS, Albert is a feline...so, a couple of roommates having a marrar and a bark in the background...even better.
ReplyDeleteI love this post !
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip
Once again your writing hits the spot!
ReplyDeleteI need a fireplace.
ReplyDeleteNo snoring currently happening here, but after a busy morning at fireys I think it might be me 'sawing wood' while having a nice Saturday arvo nap any time now!
ReplyDeleteI conclude that for Winnie the Albert and Mary feud comes second to the soporific effect of 'The Archers'. Now that I can understand. Just the thought of it has got me yawning.
ReplyDeleteOurs looked pretty similar last night, although I had Kirstie on the Tele instead of the Archers and the beauty of all the dogs and Ginger being much older than Mary is that all my little four legged friends were snoring happily away :-)
ReplyDelete...Time for a bowl of mini M&S scotch eggs. Scoff em like Maltesers.
ReplyDeleteWell, it all started off sounding pretty poetic, John.
ReplyDeleteIt's all so poetic. But isn't it always time for a gin & tonic? (Well, except in New England, where it's déclassé except in summer.)
