What an excellent list. YOU make me happy. Happy dogs make me happy. Willy Dunne Wooters. Playing classical music on the piano. Singing along to the Janis Joplin album I bought when I was in sixth grade, or maybe fifth. My kids. Jimmy Stewart. That by the time my kids were six and twelve, both could imitate Jimmy Stewart. Frida Kahlo. Sylvia Plath. Emily Dickinson. Andy Warhol. Good stories told by interesting people. Writing poetry..

Janie
Brill list dear heart x
DeleteWhat's the latest news on the toilet? Is it going to be ok? Nice list, liked the 'occasional rumpy pumpy',......yeah, right! I have had a spat with my two male gay friends (I hate labelling them but if I don't folks might think I'm having some sort of menage-a-trois, which I very clearly am not!). I was at the receiving end of a particularly vicious diatribe from one of them, totally unwarranted and has left me rather upset by it all. These things do not make me happy.
ReplyDeleteBest to run away from queeny strops...they will calm down eventually x
DeleteThis list made me happy.
ReplyDeleteYou are one happy fella, John! I am happy to have met you!!
ReplyDeleteDito jimbo...
DeleteDont forget my unhappy list of a few days ago....i can be a mean fucker
I can see you getting angry if it's deserved and you're pushed really hard, but mean?
DeleteMean people do things for the pleasure of causing pain and ruckus; I know mean - you are not mean.
You would love working with me but I can't keep the sweet nature up for long 😳
ReplyDeletePs the bro definitely has had another stroke with a clot present 😕

Aww bless you, thanks x
DeleteBubble wrap is fun.
ReplyDelete"Very cold gin and tonic with ice and lemon ( in a glass)" - HELL YEAH!
ReplyDeleteI am happy to know you also!
Great list...How was your blogging presentation?
ReplyDeleteI think I'll go back to mine and see if I can come up with my own list...I'm definitely in need of more"happy."
Doing it on wednesday x
DeleteI think we would have the best time working together , I think we would laugh ourselves sick .
ReplyDeleteA wonderful list.
ReplyDeleteI love Mary Berry and even more so since I saw her in " who do you think you are " . Heartbreaking at times as she learnt about her family . Tragically one of her great great grandparents deposited his wife and five children in the work house where three of the small children died, terribly sad . Gosh and I just got off the the subject of things that ale you happy.... Xxxx
ReplyDeleteWell ale may make you happy .... Bloody autocorrect.
ReplyDeleteA nice full list, John. I'm glad there are so many things that make you happy, and that they are fairly easily obtained.
ReplyDeleteI'll join you for a G & T!
plufrompdx
I can't argue with any of that.
ReplyDeleteYour list made me happy.
ReplyDeleteGreat list, but what about a cat purring? X
ReplyDeleteAlbert seldom purrs
DeleteHe thinks hes a dog
Your list made me smile!
ReplyDeletegin and tonics have to be made with limes, not lemons. i don't think russel crowes butt is what it used to be. but none of ours are.
ReplyDeleteBollocks x
DeleteAlways thought that I would get along well with you, but now that I know that Kay Scarpetta novels make you happy, well, that just clinches the deal!!! I am impatiently waiting for the next new one. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteNot the toes, noooooooooooooooooooooooooo
ReplyDeleteList making is good, it helps concentrate the mind. I have no idea what the photo is, but is that Cliff Richard?
ReplyDeleteNo..its sue bates.. She is a woman i work with
DeletePlease apologise to her on my behalf, unless, of course, she really does resemble Cliff Richard.
DeleteI kinda figured you for a list maker. It takes one to know one, you know.
ReplyDeleteYou would love Jill, DH calls her "The drive by licker" because every time she passes him, she has to lick him.
An interesting list - and I can identify with almost everything on it.
ReplyDeleteExcept I've never had a Scotch Egg (what the hell do I know - I'm an American) and - so far as I can remember - I've never had a dog lick my toes.
My cats bite my toes.....
That is such a good list and good to know that it's the small things in life that matter for you. I would have to add roses to any list of mine, and Phil Rickman novels, and I'll let you keep the Gin and Tonic (yuk!)
ReplyDeleteI read on AOL that bubble wrap is going to be made 'unpoppable'. (Obviously we were having too much free fun with it).
ReplyDeletea lovely list. I concede that Russell Crowe IS an arse, but that's all. Having just watched Hedwig and the Angry Inch for the manyith time, I think John Cameron Mitchell has the best male butt I've seen in many a long year. And I strongly feel that a lot of happiness can be gained from looking at a nice male butt ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou need a few more items on the list to round it up to fifty. May I suggest:-
ReplyDeleteSwimming with dolphins
Competing in triathalons
Climbing active volcanoes
Kayaking in and out of sea caves during a storm
Bingo
Stork margarine sandwiches
Back scratches!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I have read this list as I have never thought of putting lemon curd in rice pudding - I love lemon curd and love rice pudding - why have I never done this - thank you!
ReplyDeletewill add to my list of happy things, too.
DeleteLove toe washes - those are the best! :)
ReplyDeleteLemon curd in cold rice pudding? Now that sounds tasty, I must give it a try. I'm with you on Art Deco interiors - Art Deco anything in fact. And I love thunderstorms, I love the sheer drama and noise and light.
ReplyDeleteClean sheets and Audrey Hepburn movies - definitely.
ReplyDeletePersonally I'd substitute the smell of silver polish for the smell of a well-tuned two-stroke motorbike.
G&Ts give me a headache, so you can have the gin, and i'll toast with some Scotch. I like your list very much and I also have you to thank for unearthing my love for Scotch eggs.
ReplyDeleteLovely happy list. I was born on the same day as Mary Berry and I bake. Maybe I would make you happy too?!!!
ReplyDeletemy heart smiles to find anothe Kay Scarpetta lover! Are they not the best!!!:)
