I love the fact that the front runners in " Bake Off" are the former underdogs
With Paul fucking up his French cakes
Nadiya ( she of the strange expressions) and Tamal ( seriously cute medic) are now set up for the final with the rather bland Ian and sweet but ( yawn) Flora as back up....
I'm loving this series

Love when the underdogs come ahead! (And I have absolutely no idea what this is about)
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait for this series to hit our Aussie shores .
ReplyDeleteThe second baking test (those square iced things) all looked inedible to me. I'm sure I would have been ill after eating one.
ReplyDeleteI sniggered watching that smug Ian ("nothing much can go wrong"....and then he ruined his cream horns) taken down a peg or two. We do love an underdog don't we? Especially when they are as cute as Tamal.
ReplyDeleteI love reading your 'spoilers' John. This year the powers that be have as yet not blocked YouTube copies of this series, so I have kept up to date with what has been going on.......hopefully I shall be able to watch the latest programme tomorrow. If I don't know who gets to leave before I watch the programme I feel flat after watching the programme, but if I do know who is to go .......well I feel quite cheerful! So thanks for the 'spoilers'.
ReplyDeleteHave you noticed how people are now going bake offs. Our HR dept are doing one. I'm going to volunteer as a judge. Of course they'll struggle to find judges. Then there's instagram bake offs and the mcmillan coffee morning baking coming up too.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a brilliant series hasn't it, those little square cakes looked sickly sweet, how Mary and Paul managed to taste so many was amazing .... Yuk!!
ReplyDeleteBut it's not the Walking Dead.
ReplyDeleteI am so far behind in watching this series that your spoilers are the only thing keeping me up to date!
ReplyDeleteThe very thought of the bubble gum flavour cream horns made me retch
ReplyDeleteWe too are totally hooked. I thought the right one went off again after the total collapse of his final effort and also his very thin Genoese sponge (even on the remake). - as to who will win - I used to have my money on Ian, who has now faded a bit - then on Tamal, then this week on Nadiya - in other words I think it is wide open. Incidentally I thought that choux pastry tower thing looked awful and probably was far too sickly. How does Mary Berry keep so thin I want to know.
ReplyDeleteFlora is as good as gone. I like all the others, so whichever one wins I'll be happy -- but I'm slightly leaning toward Ian. I think he's the most consistent, despite his collapsing cream horns.
ReplyDeleteIt would be fun to be a judge. One thing that bothers me, why in a tent in the middle of a meadow?
ReplyDeleteFlora is very cute, but that alone won't win Bake Off. If she spent less time trying to be all experimental and giving herself too much work she'd do better. She has done some good stuff in the past but someone else has got to screw up very badly for her to make it to the final.

ReplyDeleteTamal is my second favourite of this year's bunch. (After daft mod fireman Mat). I had Tamal down as a finalist from the start actually always good with flavours, self-assured without being cocky.
ReplyDeleteI like Nadiya too, mostly because she always ends up covered in flour.
I think if they would all stick to normal flavors and not artificial bottled stuff they'd be better off. Flora bakes what she wants and rarely what is asked for, and when they bring that to her attention she just stares. Nadiya seems to be in a horror flick at all times. I'm happy for any of those remaining to win.
