It's my birthday on Monday.
Apparently I share it with the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Morgan Freeman, Lori from The Walking Dead and the famous cinematic pirate Robert Newton!
I also share it with my twin sister Janet.
Janet and John
( who said that my parents didn't have a sense of humour)
Funnily enough I am a twin born under a sign of " The Twins" ...whether that is auspicious in itself, bugger alone knows .
Personally, I think it's all a pile of shit
As you may be able to tell , I have little time for astrology
According to the literature
These are typical Gemini traits!
- A passion for novelty
- A curious disposition
- Socially outgoing
- Witty in speech and prone to banter
- Creative and quick to task
- Emotionally unreachable and difficult to pin down
How many people can tick these boxes? Looking at the list , I think only three apply to me.
Perhaps the more negative gemini traits suit me better?
You decide
Anyhow
Perhaps the more negative gemini traits suit me better?
You decide
Apparantly , because we were always dressed in white as babies, my sister and I were given the nickname the " Omo Twins" by townfolk
An Omo twin? ......perhaps people in 1962 Prestatyn knew something I didn't until the 1980s
I believe all those personality traits astrologers attribute are spread over the population in some demonstrative way. It's our job to pay little attention. June first, eh? Happy birthday, now and then.
ReplyDeleteOh and I hate Russell Grant too
DeleteI am a Gemini and my only "twinlike" trait is that I can always see both sides of an argument, and that's a bugger when I know that I am right.
ReplyDeleteme too, pam. oh me too.
Deletecan't make decisions either
bugger
x
I ink the Prof would say that I an callous
DeleteI share a birthday with Mick Jagger. He's a few years older and it's my only claim to fame. Horoscopes tend to be general enough to fit everyone. I have about three of those Gemini traits, also.
ReplyDeleteI love the way that Jagger looks like Mother Theresa
DeleteDefinitely "witty in speech"!!
ReplyDeleteI do try
DeleteLucky you; I was the Michelin baby on account of my rings of fat !!!
ReplyDeleteI too was a fat baby boomer
DeleteNothing changes eh?
Our son's birthday is on Sunday and he does have some of the Gemini traits but you can always find something that fits can't you ?
ReplyDeleteLove that you were called the ' Omo twins '. I just wish that you could still get Omo ……. it really did make whites whiter !!!!! XXXX
Especialy for wool and pissed up nappies
DeleteI think some of the Gemini traits suit you (witty in speech) but I would strongly disagree with "emotionally unreachable".
ReplyDeleteI share my birthday (December 13) with Mary Todd Lincoln.
How depressing is that ??
Interestingly , I think I am careful emotionally, until I feel safe
DeleteStops yellowing....
ReplyDeleteBet your mom used it on your underpants
DeleteI'll take the tense and callous part of the description...sadly.
ReplyDeleteI doubt that deloras
DeleteI'm a gemini and so is my friend. we couldn't be more unalike. she is 22nd may and I'm 17th june. I have a lot of the traits. There is a family rumour that I was a twin and mum lost my 'other half' - this makes me sad as I would have loved to have someone 'on my side'.
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note, I do talk to myself so that's a plus ;o)
susan x
PS 1962 was a great year *wink*
Your friend is more Taurus/Gemini cusp than Gemini and unlikely to be like you.
DeleteHappy, happy birthday !!! You do kind of remind me of Marylin Monroe....
ReplyDeleteI am a fellow Gemini - or is it Geminian? - my birthday is Thursday. I share the date with Dame Thora Hird, Maeve Binchy and Alfred Hitchcock. Sounds like between you and me we'd have a pretty outrageous party if we could get them all together!
I'll be back on Monday with cake :)
John does NOT remind me of Marylin Monroe! (Although admittedly I've never seen a photo of him in high heels wearing a white dress blown upwards by the blast from a street vent...sigh). Give it a try John. The blog needs it.
DeleteLol liv...tell me how I remind you of miss monroe?
DeleteSmart, sexy and gorgeous ! (and I'm sure you have a breathy voice - when you need it.. wink). And don't say that's not true - !
DeleteYou know how to whistle done you...you just put ypur lips together and.......blow
DeleteOh now thats lauren Bacall
"Smart"? Presumably not in the neat and tidy of dress sense.
Delete"Sexy and gorgeous"? Clearly John can reach parts of Liv's mind that my mind does not posses.
However... Monroe was not that great looking actually, being too small and fat and covered in make up. I'd probably have had to decline and disappoint her (yes, in my dreams).
I too think the whole thing is a load of rubbish John, although it is interesting that twins were born under the sign of Gemini. The farmer is a Gemini too and he doesn't appear to tick any of your boxes.
ReplyDelete"although it is interesting that twins were born under the sign of Gemini"
DeleteOne in every 12 sets of twins would be expected to be, as they would under any other sign.
Pedant xx
DeleteWell, if you don't believe that, what sign of the Chinese New Year are you?
ReplyDeleteDog what else
DeleteFibber! You are a Tiger! ;-)
DeleteAnd that proves my point!
DeleteI was born under the year of the fire rabbit and the description fits me exactly.
DeleteMy mum is known as 'Mo' and she used to use OMO. Do you remember Ajax bleach too? By the way my father in law shares your Birthday but shares none of your likeable traits. He was also a twin but his twin died at birth (so I am told).
ReplyDeleteIvory snow flakes, daz, ajax, curley wurly , green kitchen soap,
DeleteI share my birthday with jane curtin (of saturday night live) fame.
ReplyDeleteI shall rejoice in your good fortune next Monday!
Ah, but is your sister omo as well, or did they only get it half right?
ReplyDeleteIm the only omo in the family
DeleteI'm a Scorpio born in the Year of the Rat. God knows what that says about a chap - but I don't think it's very pleasant!
ReplyDeleteTell me more about your scorpio traits?
DeleteI do believe it and I am so typically Aries it is embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteIn what way dear heart?
DeleteIn too many!
DeleteWould need to ask the Prof. if you are "difficult to pin down".
ReplyDeletePretty easy I suspect.
There is a difference between astrology nonsense and possible physical and mental traits loosely and quite plausibly linked to time of year of conception and birth. Light and temperature and parental state variations may have their effects. (I'm a Taurus, supposedly bullishly stubborn, but reliable, practical, ambitious and sensual... oh... come to think of it...)
Humm i think we were a product of one too many gins after the Gala dinner at Prestatyn Urban district council
DeleteBe thankful your parents didn't name you after the Greek divine twins Apollo and Artemis, LOL!
ReplyDeleteCastor and pollix?
DeleteI was married to a Gemini many years ago. I always thought he was bipolar. Sweet as pie one minute, mean as hell the next. It was a very short lived marriage and I was lucky to get out of it alive. I decided never again! (I'm a Scorpio…enough said!)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday John and Janet!
ReplyDelete(P.S. - I knew twins who were named Joy and Joey! Can you believe it?)
I'm a twin too!
ReplyDeleteYes Omo.
Sister or brother?
DeleteBrother!
DeleteKaty and?
DeleteKaty and Anthony. Named after family members so we didn't get Carl & Carla or anything. For which I am thankful!
DeleteI always thought you were brighter than bright!!
ReplyDeleteLike a dying star jimbo!
DeleteHappy birthday.
ReplyDeleteI am a Capricorn and have to be careful. Apparently we are so boring that if I stand still for too long I will take root and turn into a tree. I can think of worse fates.
Decades past, when the oldest was around 10, for halloween she donned a huge cardboard box she'd made into a fortune telling machine. People would put treats in one opening, and she'd hand out 'fortunes' from the other. The fortunes were along the line of 'You're odd, and no one likes you".
ReplyDeleteI prefer phrenology to astrology......
I like that girl already
DeleteWhat did she turn into when she grew up?
Surely the typical Gemini traits are: Likes scotch eggs; prone to soup-spillage; nuts about animals; good at organising flower shows; speaks his mind; and tends to the sick. My God, that's uncannily accurate. This astrology stuff is impressive.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot....fart when they bend over, cry easily at bad films, adore zombie tv shows and can cope with sexually adventurous bulldog bitches!
DeleteMost of those adjectives don't suit you at all, far as I can tell. However, I'm delighted to know we share a birth month--barely! Who knew I was just a few weeks younger than you?!
ReplyDeleteYou look younger for sure..l10 years younger
DeleteMy birthday is Monday June 1st too (1960) so I'll have an extra slice of cake and raise a glass (or two) for you.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was at school, and later university, my birthday always seemed to fall either during exams or during the time when I was studying hard. So I decided that once I graduated I was never going to work on my birthday. I've kept it up for about forty years now and the coming Monday isn't going to be an exception!
Excellent......though i have never quite understood the Prof's love of being off work on his birthday or mine,.... I have never had the need to do that..........
DeleteHappy early birthday...I learned the hard way to take my birthday off work after having to spend an extra 7 hours of overtime in surgery one night...
ReplyDeletehave you done the Meyers-Briggs personality test...I find it dead on...
I have kelly
DeleteAnd i am saying nothing
Well Happy Birthday for Monday in case I don't manage it then!
ReplyDeleteIm vain enough
DeletePost that again on monday xx
I bet your sister is nicer. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThats a bitchything to say susie
DeleteWhy did you say that?
I was trying to get attention.
DeleteWell, is she?
Yes
DeleteI read her blog once. She seems nice. You're not so bad either.
DeleteYou also share a birthday with my sister! Maybe that's why I enjoy your sense of humor so much...or it could be because you're nicer than she is. ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I don't believe in astrology, but I can't imagine that any of those negative traits apply to someone as loving and helpful and amusing as you are. So often your blog makes my day.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
My Mother's Birthday is June 1st. How wonderful is that !
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip
Happy Birthday for Monday John and Janet, I love people born under the sign of Gemini, mostly I notice they can never make their minds up about anything first time around.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland, NZ
Happy early birthday to you both.
ReplyDeleteYou also share your birthday with my son (28). Happy birthday:)
ReplyDeleteActually, I did know about Mon, J.G., 'cos you're on my 'list' to be the first to send you greetings. So drat! - maybe next year.
ReplyDeleteRe 'Omo': You're maybe not old enough to remember, but around 1960, I think, there were competing washing powder campaigns with pairs of men representing the various firms calling round to various houses. TV adverts would show the door being opened by pinafored housewives who'd then be asked whether they'd like to keep their present washing powder or change to the preferred new one with the chance of winning a cash prize. We were told to keep a look out for 'The Daz Men', 'The Oxydol Men' (whatever happened to that one?), 'The Persil Men' - and for 'Omo', 'The RAINBOW Men'!
You see to me you are much more like the 'positive' traits, on the blog that's how you come over anyway, although I can see bits of you in the 'negative' list it is only in the nicest sense of the words.
ReplyDeleteAnd believe me I am good at reading between the lines about people.
Oh and I'm an Aries through and through, disagree with me about this and I'll knock your bloody block off ;-)
