Homo Twin

It's my birthday on Monday.
Apparently I share it with the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Morgan Freeman, Lori from The Walking Dead and the famous cinematic pirate Robert Newton!
I also share it with my twin sister Janet.
Janet and John
( who said that my parents didn't have a sense of humour)
Funnily enough I am a twin born under a sign of " The Twins" ...whether that is auspicious in itself, bugger alone knows .
Personally, I think it's all a pile of shit
As you may be able to tell , I have little time for astrology
According to the literature
These are typical Gemini traits!

  • A passion for novelty
  • A curious disposition
  • Socially outgoing
  • Witty in speech and prone to banter
  • Creative and quick to task
  • Emotionally unreachable and difficult to pin down
How many people can tick these boxes? Looking at the list , I think only three apply to me.
Perhaps the more negative gemini traits suit me better?
You decide

Anyhow

Apparantly , because we were always dressed in white as babies, my sister and I were given the nickname the " Omo Twins" by townfolk
An Omo twin? ......perhaps people in 1962 Prestatyn knew something I didn't until the 1980s

  1. I believe all those personality traits astrologers attribute are spread over the population in some demonstrative way. It's our job to pay little attention. June first, eh? Happy birthday, now and then.

  2. I am a Gemini and my only "twinlike" trait is that I can always see both sides of an argument, and that's a bugger when I know that I am right.

  3. I share a birthday with Mick Jagger. He's a few years older and it's my only claim to fame. Horoscopes tend to be general enough to fit everyone. I have about three of those Gemini traits, also.

Love that you were called the ' Omo twins '. I just wish that you could still get Omo ……. it really did make whites whiter !!!!! XXXX

  7. I think some of the Gemini traits suit you (witty in speech) but I would strongly disagree with "emotionally unreachable".

I share my birthday (December 13) with Mary Todd Lincoln.
    How depressing is that ??

  10. I'm a gemini and so is my friend. we couldn't be more unalike. she is 22nd may and I'm 17th june. I have a lot of the traits. There is a family rumour that I was a twin and mum lost my 'other half' - this makes me sad as I would have loved to have someone 'on my side'.
On a lighter note, I do talk to myself so that's a plus ;o)

  11. Happy, happy birthday !!! You do kind of remind me of Marylin Monroe....
I am a fellow Gemini - or is it Geminian? - my birthday is Thursday. I share the date with Dame Thora Hird, Maeve Binchy and Alfred Hitchcock. Sounds like between you and me we'd have a pretty outrageous party if we could get them all together!

I'll be back on Monday with cake :)

    1. John does NOT remind me of Marylin Monroe! (Although admittedly I've never seen a photo of him in high heels wearing a white dress blown upwards by the blast from a street vent...sigh). Give it a try John. The blog needs it.

    5. "Smart"? Presumably not in the neat and tidy of dress sense.

"Sexy and gorgeous"? Clearly John can reach parts of Liv's mind that my mind does not posses.

However... Monroe was not that great looking actually, being too small and fat and covered in make up. I'd probably have had to decline and disappoint her (yes, in my dreams).

  12. I too think the whole thing is a load of rubbish John, although it is interesting that twins were born under the sign of Gemini. The farmer is a Gemini too and he doesn't appear to tick any of your boxes.

  19. Would need to ask the Prof. if you are "difficult to pin down".

    Pretty easy I suspect.

There is a difference between astrology nonsense and possible physical and mental traits loosely and quite plausibly linked to time of year of conception and birth. Light and temperature and parental state variations may have their effects. (I'm a Taurus, supposedly bullishly stubborn, but reliable, practical, ambitious and sensual... oh... come to think of it...)

  26. Decades past, when the oldest was around 10, for halloween she donned a huge cardboard box she'd made into a fortune telling machine. People would put treats in one opening, and she'd hand out 'fortunes' from the other. The fortunes were along the line of 'You're odd, and no one likes you".
    I prefer phrenology to astrology......

  27. Surely the typical Gemini traits are: Likes scotch eggs; prone to soup-spillage; nuts about animals; good at organising flower shows; speaks his mind; and tends to the sick. My God, that's uncannily accurate. This astrology stuff is impressive.

My birthday is Monday June 1st too (1960) so I'll have an extra slice of cake and raise a glass (or two) for you.

When I was at school, and later university, my birthday always seemed to fall either during exams or during the time when I was studying hard. So I decided that once I graduated I was never going to work on my birthday. I've kept it up for about forty years now and the coming Monday isn't going to be an exception!

  39. Actually, I did know about Mon, J.G., 'cos you're on my 'list' to be the first to send you greetings. So drat! - maybe next year.

Re 'Omo': You're maybe not old enough to remember, but around 1960, I think, there were competing washing powder campaigns with pairs of men representing the various firms calling round to various houses. TV adverts would show the door being opened by pinafored housewives who'd then be asked whether they'd like to keep their present washing powder or change to the preferred new one with the chance of winning a cash prize. We were told to keep a look out for 'The Daz Men', 'The Oxydol Men' (whatever happened to that one?), 'The Persil Men' - and for 'Omo', 'The RAINBOW Men'!

    ReplyDelete
  40. You see to me you are much more like the 'positive' traits, on the blog that's how you come over anyway, although I can see bits of you in the 'negative' list it is only in the nicest sense of the words.

And believe me I am good at reading between the lines about people.

Oh and I'm an Aries through and through, disagree with me about this and I'll knock your bloody block off ;-)
