Four Gifts

It's been three weeks since the wedding and I am delighted to say that we are still recieving belated gifts .
The first is a Miss Marple-esque  cake stand from Peter & Val who used to live in the village

The second was a beautifully framed photograph taken on Friday 6th 2015 ( the date of the wedding)
With the inscription " John and Chris' Wedding Day"
Now this arrived this afternoon and as it had no covering letter or card to let us know who had sent it, I cannot thank anyone for the lovely thought.

The third gift was from Albert.
The first dead rabbit of the season.
I was up late this morning as I was still feeling rather crook
So the corpse had been dragged around the house by the terriers with a huge amount of gay abandon

I found it's liver on the bathroom floor
And what suspiciously looked like a lung  on the living room carpet

And the fourth gift?
Two packets of throat losengers left on the garden wall by village elder Islwyn
Very kind!

  1. My mouth is agape at the doggie's present. haha
The other two presents are thoughtful and lovely and more apt to be displayed with aplomb.

    1. It may open a little wider given its a gift from Albert not the dogs.... Albert kills rabbits to eat during spring and summer every year

  3. Love the Miss Marpleish cake stand. I am re-watching the "new" cleaned up Miss Marple with Joan Hickson. Wonderful.
The bird and flower dishes to the left are fabulous. I want them.
    Beautiful photo card.
The 3rd gift is beyond hysterical. A possible lung on the living room floor ? Dragged about with "a huge amount of gay abandon" Gift from the heart.

    cheers, parsnip

  10. The first rabbit of the season .... Albert is slipping.

Ginger has been dining in style for weeks now, any leftovers Rosy hides under the shed, with her own kills. I really do not want to look under the shed ..... it must resemble something from a horror movie :-(

Love the presents ... except the rabbit of course!

  13. I love your gifts and I know you will do that cake stand proud! And, I also love the wedding pressie from Chris' mom. What is the name of that pattern? So pretty for spring and summer. The picture was such a lovely thought and idea! A real keepsake to remember the day. Now, the rabbit is another story.

    3. That's how I want to be when I'm old(er). Love the pic, don't take it down. But I would rather not see bunny carcasses. My Mollie doesn't leave the garden and if she saw a bun she would run, run, run away!!
Although we do get dead moths (the big ones) she has 'played' with and that grosses us out....we are saps.

  18. I was unaware that cats would regularly take on rabbits. I've had a few cats over the years but never known them to take anything bigger than a blackbird or a mouse. Interesting (if not very nice).

  19. How thoughtful of the dogs. I do hope you did the gift justice. I think the photo is a particularly touching gift. Very moving. Shame they didn't attach a card

    1. I think Albert is a cat Anna, judging from his photo in the sidebar, hence my comment above your one. But maybe he is a cat who thinks he's a dog.

      Delete
    2. Ah... but the corpse provided by the cat was dragged around the house by the terriers, which I think are dogs. Sometimes I have to study things twice, or more, to comprehend the goings on in John's place. Other times I can make little sense of them at all, however, but it is always interesting to read about them.

    4. I note Andrew is trying to disguise himself tonight.

      Delete
    5. Eh? Can't be a very successful attempt if you can see through it? Have no idea what you are on about dear lady. There is at least on other Andrew who comments here, and on blogs, by the way. I do also write books as Andrew R. Scott (so sometimes comment when logged in as that), but "disguise" is not on my agenda. Given that you previously wrongly thought I had previously been visiting your blog on many occasions, simply on the basis that "someone from Scotland" did you said, I humbly suggest you remind yourself there are a lot of people in the world, and more people than me "in Scotland". I wish you well - I wish everyone well - but your comments do puzzle me

      Delete
    6. You're a bit touchy tonight Andrew.

      Delete
    7. And John, part of the fun here is figuring things out. For example I had to visit many times before I realised where the Ukranian village is, and that, oddly enough, it is not in Ukraine. Some people may also have been puzzled to know that Jesus dies in your care recently... etc.

      Delete
    8. Not touchy Rachel, just genuinely puzzled as to what this attempt at "disguise" was. And "touchy" from a lady who tells people on blogs to F*** off at the merest whim? :) xx

      Delete
    9. I am utterly fascinated by the Rachel/Andrew debacle, much better than tonight's Eastenders.
      What gives??

    10. Beats me Susan... I was just innocently blog commenting one day and she told me to F*** Off. I think she may have mistaken me for someone else (especially given that I then found that she was labouring under the delusion that I had been visiting her blog for ages, which I had not). When I did then visit her blog to see who she was she assured me that telling people to "F*** Off" is her way of saying she likes them; but then she later told me to "Piss Off" in here, which may not be so good. Anyway, I am as mystified as you, but a source of fascination can be fun, I suppose (unless John tells me to F*** Off, in which case I promptly will).

      Delete
    11. Right then, Mr. Scott, under which pseudonym have you been visiting my blog? Let's have it then; I've plenty of family in Scotland to send 'round your way, I do!

They'll probably drag you off to go fishing, but that's your lookout.

    12. Dr. Scott actually, and I did eat the chipmunk, sorry. And I'm not Andrew Scott the actor, by the way, being much better looking (and a bit more mature) than him. I suppose I should confess that I do also sometimes go by the name of Don QuiScottie de l'Ecosse, but that's another story altogether.

      Delete
    13. So, Doktor Scott, did you forget to add the 'de la Alba'? Or was that on purpose....

You ate the chipmunk; dieting are you? Here, have a martini to go with it. Stirred, not shaken. Bwahahahaha

  21. Albert loves you so he brings you the best bits, shame the dogs got to it first.

I've always wanted a cake stand but I stopped baking cakes years ago so there's no point. But it is very pretty.

  22. Gifts from the heart.
Our rabbit killing cat used to only leave the ears and the powder puff. Albert was being very, very generous.
