William smiling fir the camera
After yesterday's homage to everything Scottish, Simone requested that I do a short blog entry about William, a blog that explains his personality.
Welsh terrier dogs tend to be overly bouncy , cheerful characters. They have strong personalities, are quick to ignore commends when off the lead and are sociable with other dogs and humans alike.
They are also extraordinarily affectionate dogs who love to clamber on top of you at a moments notice.
People over 50 like them so much for they always remind them of those dogs on wheels kids of a certain age used to have when they were learning to walk.
He is a dog strangers are often drawn to
He will sit and watch, when other dogs would bark and snap and for 18 long months he was obsessed with Mary the disabled rabbit,, so much so that he would sit for hours in front of her hutch , just
staring at her.
His ability to wait and watch knows no bounds.
In short.......hes a lovely dog
William is certainly handsome! I've never seen a Welsh terrier in person. I imagine they must be pretty rare around here. So are Scotties, come to think of it. Your crew would be a sensation at the dog park! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much John. I am over 50 so no wonder I like him so much! I often sit and stare. I would love a sweet William to do that with. x
ReplyDeletehe has such a wonderful smile!
ReplyDeleteI've seen them in Australia, but they are quite rare I think. William looks so friendly. Do you recall the tv series Fortunes of War and the chap who used to tow around a blind charity model collection dog?
ReplyDeletenow do a post about Meg........please :0)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, please do!
DeleteLove William. And I do remember those toys and I am over 50.
ReplyDeleteRosezeeta,
The ability to sit quietly? I think I'm in love!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful boy.
ReplyDeleteWilliam is a magnificent boy. I have never seen a Welsh Terrier in Australia.
ReplyDeleteSweet William indeed !
ReplyDeleteMy kids had those push along dogs - showing my age now !
Makes me think for a moment about a dog,
ReplyDeleteMakes ME think about a dog, too. And I'm usually a cat person.
ReplyDeleteCharming dog and charming walker! We certainly did not have such cool things when we were young here in the states. Nor have I ever seen a Welsh Terrier that I know of. You expand my world, John Gray!
ReplyDeleteHe is a happy looking little soul.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweetheart....could just cuddle him now..x
ReplyDeleteAwwwww I want a William! :)
ReplyDeleteI often stare at rabbits too, though perhaps for different reasons. Lapin a la moutarde is a favorite.
ReplyDeleteSweet William !
ReplyDeleteI loved his friendship with Mary.
William and Watson would be very great friends.
They are both gentle souls.
cheers, parsnip
I adore all the terriers - Borders, Patterdales, Welsh and Airedales (plus Scottish of course)
ReplyDeleteWoof woof.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pooch. I love the descriptions of the different personalities
ReplyDeleteTwiggy
He sounds like a sweetheart. Who is the other dog in the picture with him? I don't recognize it as one of yours.
ReplyDeleteZoe, thats jess my sisters patterdale...now shes a feisty bitch!
DeleteHer and Meg hate each other
My best friend had one of those dogs on wheels. Her family didn't have much money and she was desperate for a dolls' pram, so her dad tied a shoe box on to the back of the dog and that was her dolls' pram.
ReplyDeleteLove William best of all. For your delight and delictation.......Great British Sewing Bee.....Patrick in a kilt.....Lordy, Lordy!
ReplyDeleteps I deleted this comment from your newest post since it felt out of place there.
Chris is mortified ryan is out!
DeleteI loved the William/Mary connection...
ReplyDeleteScared the effin life out of me one of those dogs on wheels. I thought maybe I'd end up stuffed and on wheels as I presumed the dog had been, being too scared to examine it closely. Perhaps that sounds silly, but I was about three (and silly)...
ReplyDeleteI love a smiling dog, Rosy has learnt to do it, the Pug tries but she just falls asleep.
ReplyDeleteWilliam is gorgeous, I do love a polite dog .... perhaps he could teach my trio some manners ;-)
