A Week Or Two To Go

I wanted to document the Graveyard snowdrops
We see them every morning when we look out of the cottage window
Next come the daffodils
just had a panic attack
Thought it was only a week before the wedding
I nearly wet myself
It's two weeks!
Yikes
I'm not nervous ...just excited!

  1. When I first looked at the top picture I thought they were a bunch of little penguins! Very pretty.

Last minute nerves?! All will be good & you will have a wonderful day.

  3. it's going to be wonderful and the things you are fretting over will fall into place or else not matter in the slightest!

  4. Snowdrops hold a dear place in my heart. With winter settling in from mid-October through mid-May, their first brave appearance in the snow gave me hope for spring!

Now then, there is no need to panic. I know you've got everything organized to a T. And remember as the day approaches: it's not the wedding that matters, but the marriage. You've got decades to get that right.

  5. You two are going to have a WONDERFUL time! I'll bet the festivities will be long remembered in the village.

And you know you'll be happy together afterward, because you already are! :)

Can't wait to see the pictures and hear all the stories.

  6. I know this sounds strange, but enjoy every moment of your stress. These exciting moments go by too quickly, and you will want to remember this time forever.

  9. I love snowdrops - they always come out for my birthday and as a small child having birthday parties in chilly February you learn to love anything vaguely pretty. This will be one of the largest receptions in history as here all your readers are with our virtual posh frocks and hats at the ready. Enjoy your excitement, such a lovely feeling for such a wonderful occasion.

  11. Thought I'd felt a frisson of excitement tremble in the air... must have been you!
Just a thought: It's the imperfections that we remember and smile about when we think of our wedding... like when the minister (an old friend) asked my sweetheart to vow to love, honour, and OBEY me. Everyone laughed so hard it took 10 minutes to get the ceremony going again; not something a Bridezilla would be happy about but it seemed just about perfect to me.
You're getting married to the man you love, it is a big deal... and about damn time as well. =)

  13. The day I married my husband, over thirty years ago, I had a few seconds of doubts because I'd been married before and I had only known this man for less than a year and we were so different. But. When I got out of the car at the park where we were to be married, I saw him and I knew. I knew. This man. Yes. And I realized I had known that since the very first week we met. I had even told a friend, "This man is going to ask me to marry him." That early. It is a blessing to marry the person you love like that, who loves you like that. I wish that for you and your man. Such joy! And it will be joyful.

  16. I've never heard of snowdrops but they're beautiful. Here in the wilds of Tennessee everything is frozen sold.

Advice for the wedding? Drink as much as possible and stay soused. The entire ordeal will be blissfully painless and you won't remember a thing.

    1. I meant to say "solid", not "sold".
      And I'm not soused. Honest.

  19. I am so jealous to see such charming flowers. We have a wind chill warning of 10 to 20 degrees below zero here in NJ. I have had enough of winter dammit!
That build of excitement is so wonderful. You just enjoy and keep documenting here for all of us who are as excited as you. Too bad we cannot all Skype in!! XO

  23. Snowdrops, so fleeting and so lovely. Beautiful photos.

John thought you might be interested to hear that for the first time uniformed NZ Police officers will be marching in tomorrow's Gay Pride Parade in Auckland. Sometimes things change for the better! XX

  24. I've just half-inched a load of wild snowdrops to plant on Monty's grave. They'll pop up to remind us of him.

  25. Is it too late to change my telegram entry to read "John don't forget to take a change of undies to the wedding"?

  27. I'm excited for you too! We only married 11 years ago, and I still remember the excitement of it all. Knowing that we got to celebrate this amazing ting wit so many friends and family. This rightness of love together. It still blows my mind sometimes. We've been through plenty of sh1t, it;s been no picnic let me tell you, yet I also knew from the very first moment, and so did D, that we were forever.
So, I wish you the same sense of love and wonder and miracles that being with the One brings. xoxoxo

  28. -17 here, feels like -28 with the wind chill. I think the crocuses are a long way off. I'm looking forward to April, the daffodils are spectacular (this is far from the best patch).

  29. “Where are the snowdrops?” said the sun.
“Dead” said the frost, “Buried and lost, every one.”
“A foolish answer,” said the sun
“They did not die, asleep they lie, every one.
And I will awake them, I the sun,
Into the light, all clad in white, every one.”
“It’s rather dark in the earth today”
said one little bulb to its brother.
    “But I thought that I felt a sunbeam’s ray.
We must strive and grow ’til we find our way”
and they nestled close to each other.
They struggled and strived by day and by night,
’til two little snowdrops in green and white
    rose out of the darkness and into the light;
    and softly kissed one another.

  35. Snowdrops are such a hopeful sign. Another winter passing. Summer ahead. I wonder if they have come out this year in eastern Ukraine, Syria, north eastern Nigeria and Libya. Maybe they don't grow in places like that. Crocuses should be well out for your wedding day - another symbol of encouragement and hope.
