Goose Feet

Jo, this morning,braving the snow
note Russell the gander and Camilla sitting in the lurid purple paddling pool
Jo is the gentlest of all the geese, she always looks as though she's smiling

If I was a bird, I am sure I'd be a land locked goose for a goose out of water is an incredibly clumsy creature.
Chris watched me trying to get my socks on the morning then laughed when he saw me trying to force two feet into one trouser leg hole.
" I've never met such an ungainly individual " he said with all of the insight of being a seni professional dancer in his teenage years.
I don't think Chris has ever fallen over by accident......ever!
I have fallen over twice today already
and it's only 10.30 in the morning........
Walking geese are always tripping over things. I think it's a product of not being able to see their feet.
I can see my feet and I still went arse over tit....
TWICE

I blame the snow.......

Animal update:-
Winnie is now more or less walking normally..though is playing ultra diva when asked to sleep in her usual crate
Phyllis Diller is back to normal after her recent cat attack
Bingley has needed his individual portion of car food today to fight away the cold.

  3. I've read it's a sign of age when you can no longer put your legs in your knickers while standing up.
I sit down at the moment because it's dark in the mornings when I get dressed (ahem).

    1. I doubt that I could get one of my legs inside your knickers at any age
( especially if your were wearing them)

  4. I have to wear blue paper over-shoes when I go into my client's house, and the last time I had such difficulty putting them on that one of the other men took pity on me and put them on for me. They just slip them on standing up, but I have to sit on a table - and still fail. God I felt old.

  5. Blue paper shoes? There's an image. No snow here.

  6. I'm like you. I'd also like to blame the snow ... except we don't have snow.

  7. You sound like my husband, who is always going SPLAT in winter. Ungainly indeed!

  8. Great photos John. You could make a scenes from Trelawnyd calendar and raise money for your gardening club?

  9. Oh I like that idea above for a calendar but also include the villagers! Similar situation with my husband. He came home yesterday from his daily old codgers visiting and told me I had a new job....to make sure before he went out that he had on the same tennis shoe on both feet. He had done his visiting rounds with one black and one white tennis shoe. Jo is a very pretty goose and I love the snow photo!

  11. Strange sense of being, isn't it? Unless I focus, I have no sense of body space, and knock into door jams and furniture. I used to get away with it, but add age and the need to grasp something for balance and I wonder how ridiculous I look to the world.

So glad the invalids are improving...now....keep your feet under you for the rest of the day.

  13. One of the reasons I hate winter most is all the clothes required. It takes SO LONG to put them all on. And yes, I feel very ungainly as I do so.

  14. Staying upright is so overrated.

  15. Tom's right. It's your age. (And mine.)
I read somewhere this week that geese can live 40 years and beyond. The perfect long term companions. Is Jo laying?

  16. You sound exactly like Lovely Hubby, he will fall over at the drop of a hat. We can be walking along talking and then .... there he is lying flat out on the floor, the dogs are getting used to is and patiently wait for him to get up!!

As for trying to get his jeans on ... why do you think he wears shorts so much in the house, you can see daylight at the bottom of each leg as you put them on thus aiding in getting each leg in the right leg hole .... usually!!

  17. Less whiskey with the scotch eggs for breakfast? Glad Winnie is recovering. Lots of snow and sun on Clee Hill today, great walk!

  18. Nice pictures - I like the one with the hill on the far side. I am not fond of geese, mother or other.
If that's all the clumsy you have... you are lucky.

  19. It had never occurred to me that geese can't see their own feet. No wonder they walk in such a strange and hesitant way. It's surprising they don't fall over every ten seconds.

  20. It looks so cold and icy. No wonder you fall. It's 67 degrees here, and the sun is shining.

    Love,

  21. Jo is very pretty. Do the birds seem to mind the snow? Our wild geese all fly south for the winter; I never knew they could get along in colder temperatures.

Thanks for the update on the critters. Hope you have an upright day, the rest of it anyhow.

  22. Perhaps you have dyspraxia, which seems to be the latest diagnosis for clumsy twit. I am convinced Daughter has it. She can't possibly have got it from me.

  23. Geese walk funny because they *know* what they leave all over the lawn... bleagh! They are rather fun to hypnotise, however, especially when they come out of it, hehehe.

Yes, I was a bad child, mesmerising geese and such.

The distant snow looks very pretty on the hilltop. Not so much the snow in the foreground, which looks like it is combined with mud. But what would I know about snow.

  25. I have to wonder if you and Chris truly are such opposites...or if perhaps you exaggerate just a teeny bit. What I wouldn't give to hear his side of the story. If you are a landlocked goose, what is he?

  26. Jo is such a pretty Goose. I love her feathers pattern on the wings.
I always worry about the wild birds feet in the winter.
I wasn't always so clumsy. One time in my 30's I counted 35 bruises on my body. What a doofus !
