The Scone Fairy

The meter reader man came this afternoon, as usual he came to the front door of the cottage, so I told him through the window to " come round the back"
We don't use the front door.
After he knocked on the back door he pointed to a white paper bag
balanced on the back garden wall
" a very old lady has just dropped that off" he informed me
A bag of warm scones awaited me
The " auntie Glad scone fairy" had struck again

  2. Does Winnie know of this wall that grows scones?

Not athletic enough to get up and nudge them off and into her famous wide wet mouth?

  7. How nice, had the meter reader not shown up at the time, they could have gotten cold! Life is just a _____ circumstance!

  9. Thank goodness someone spotted them. Wasting a bag of Auntie Glad's famous scones would have been a crime. Did you share one with the meter man? Will Auntie Glad ever share her scone recipe with your readers?

  12. Hooray for the Scone Fairy. Coincidentally I had just finished a telephone conversation where I mentioned that my role seems to be as the toilet paper fairy - a scone fairy is a much, much better career aspiration.

  18. Auntie Glad must know your schedule inside out, if she is willing to risk putting your warm scones on the cold garden wall! What a lovely lady.

  24. I often find cabbages, onions, apples, cucumbers and tomatoes on my doorstep from my lovely neighbours' gardens, but never scones. Aunty Glad sounds absolutely lovely and is obviously very fond of you. We don't use our front door either - very few people do in our village. You can't get through our's for walking boots etc.

  25. Yum! It's a good thing the meter reader was around to alert you to the scones' presence!

  26. Telling a meter man to "come round the back" might be mis-interpreted.

  27. It's a good job he didn't realise what tasty morsels lurked within that bag!!

  28. I've sort of got a scone fairy (my Sister), but, she visits with scones irregularly! I forgive her 'cos she just told me she's organised a (surprise?) birthday party for me, 60th later this month xxx
