I've planned to cut the lawn in a while.
There are dumplings to make to add to a beef casserole
And I've promised Chris that I will follow Mary Berry's chocolate eclair recipe and knock
Up some choux pastry
But even domestic goddesses like me need some downtime
and so with an aged Welsh Terrier in need of some TLC
Meg and I watched a crappy John Wayne warfilm from the over stuffed armchair in the living room
How nice John. You make me feel better already having felt rather sorry for myself this morning. Just a nice simple enjoyable afternoon you have had. I think I will pour a sherry for myself on the strength of it. x
ReplyDeleteGod, John..you put me to shame. You are making eclairs? I might get some muffins done over the weekend and that's that. Glad little Welsh Terrier had some cuddle-time.
ReplyDeleteI have a predilection for bad movies when I'm in certain moods. Mainly one's like "Parent Trap". My oldest once commented upon seeing me watching said "It's hard to believe you were once a respected man of science."
ReplyDeleteDoes Meg really like John Wayne films? (How's the cycling going? You need to pedal faster to counteract those dumplings and chocolate eclairs!)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Meg enjoyed the cuddling.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great way to relax to me, John. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteEclair's can be made anytime. We can only cuddle our little ones for such a short time.
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip
I hope you watched 'The Longest Day." Relax, enjoy, bake like a goddess
ReplyDeleteDoes Chris take the photos, or do you have one of those extension thingies for you camera?
ReplyDeleteI suspect he calls his "extension thingie" an arm, Tom.
DeleteSelfies taken at arm's length often look as if taken from farther away than the length of an arm, I have noticed.
Ha!
Deleteenjoy the cuddle time!
ReplyDeleteEverything in its own time John.
ReplyDeleteMmm, eclairs... cream puffs... I'm hungry!
Do you make fluffy dumplings or those gummy things?
When I first glanced at that photo I thought, wow, that is one heck of a beard!
ReplyDeleteGood for you and Meg.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
And it did you both the world of good.
ReplyDeleteCuddles are important to our furry friends. All our cats crave it. Too bad it's not a paying job, because I'd love to do it full-time.
ReplyDeleteGotta love cuddle time with the fur babies! Ours are usually either lying on the doorstep in the sun or lounging around one of the couches but when I go to sneak a cuddle ... they all bugger off out doors! Until night time when several will come and sleep on the bed leaving me no room for my legs! Wouldn't change it for the world! I love eclairs but not enough to have the energy to beat the living daylights out of the choux pastry.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland, NZ
Enjoy the time and cook later....
ReplyDeleteSo there is some rest 'for the wicked'!
ReplyDeleteThe Welsh Terrier makes a good attempt at portraying a half-shaved beard
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a glass of wine with that film.
ReplyDeleteTLC and quality time with Meg...priceless....
ReplyDeleteJust think Daryl and all will be fine.
ReplyDeleteGive me a John Wayne cowboy movie any day. We just saw The Man who Killed Liberty Valance. Had forgotten how good it was.
ReplyDeleteIn your turkey lasagne, do you use a cheese, ricotta and/or mozzarella?
Love the photo!
ReplyDeleteOMW Eclairs? How I'd love to be there! I love that you and Meg took me-time. Beautiful photo. xx
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs downtime.
ReplyDeleteA man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.
ReplyDeleteNot sure that Meg is actually watching that film.
ReplyDeleteJo is my cuddlebug, and she often will jump up on my lap when i'm ready to stand up and get some chores done. I'm never sorry I cuddle with her first and always feel much better afterwards.
