Ps.......first blog of today was movie centered
The second is a brief "emotionally based" one.
Chris returns home from Canada today
He's been away since the weekend
Now it may surprise you when I say that I am not a heart warming emotional sort of old queen in practice
But I am looking forward in having him home.
I am not the sort to wave a white handkerchief from the garden gate
I am not the sort to gush emotional platitudes over the phone either
But I am the sort to lovingly bake you two types of pie
For when you return home from distant shores.
Cute.
ReplyDeleteThey say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Not sure surgeons would agree with that however....
ReplyDeleteEveryone loves pie - nice one!
And I am a mean pastry cook........... Just another string to my bow
DeleteHe's a lucky man x
ReplyDeleteMy kind of a WELCOME HOME
ReplyDeleteI'd rather have a couple of pies made for me than a hankie waved from the gate any day;-)
ReplyDeleteLovely Hubby are you reading this?????
Give me his email and I'll contact him for you
DeleteNice job. They are picture-perfect.
ReplyDeleteoooooooooooooooh, pie! what flavours? chris is a lucky man indeed!
ReplyDeleteIt's already been said but Chris is a very, very lucky man.
ReplyDeleteAnd no soggy bottoms?
ReplyDeleteI've changed my underpants
DeleteSo a lace hanky would be out of the question, as would be a plain coloured one pulled from the left or right pocket.
ReplyDeleteDude, baking two types of pie is true love!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThey've got decorations on! Not a gusher? PAH!
ReplyDeleteJane x
And look at the pretty pastry cut outs on them....truly a labour of love.
ReplyDeleteYou had me wanting to sniff the screen: those love pies look scrumptious; Chris will be happy! xx
ReplyDeletePies will be fine... although a waving white handkerchief would be nice, too.
ReplyDeleteLike jenny aggutter from THE RAILWAY children
DeleteYou are such a domestic goddess John ….. will you be wearing your stockings and suspenders this evening ?!!!!! XXXX
ReplyDeleteJust my holey underpants
DeleteI am not an emotional gusher either, but I would probably have a beaming smile on my face when my partner walked in through the door, and I suspect, John, that you, too, have an insy winsy bit of a smile playing around the edges of your mouth when you next see your partner!
ReplyDeleteAnd I bet Chris is the type to understand exactly what you mean by them.
ReplyDeleteNice looking pies there. Do you make the crust from scratch?
ReplyDeleteI made one myself a week ago from some excellent peaches, the neighbors liked it.
Oh from scratch always...I am a fair pastry cook
DeleteI will not be telling my DH this or he to will expect pie lol x
ReplyDeleteyou're just an "old" sweetie John :)
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness, John, forget all the gushing stuff - Pie says it ALL!
ReplyDeleteSavory or sweet?
ReplyDeleteOne apple
DeleteOne beef!
What could be better than two pies! My hubs would be thrilled with that kind of welcome home.
ReplyDeleteOoh they look scrumptious! Lucky Chris :-)
ReplyDeleteit must be true love :) Beautiful pies - what are the fillings?
ReplyDeleteBeef,..............( with leaks , paprika and garlic)
DeleteAnd apple and cinnamon
Of course you would bake him pies. Welcome home, Chris.
ReplyDeletebaking for those we love is a real pleasure...especially pies! happy homecoming to Chris...
ReplyDeleteBeef Pie? I'll be over in a week.....hmmm suppose Chris will have eaten it all by then.
ReplyDeleteOh home made pie....such memories....lucky boy.......and you are a very loving man John x
ReplyDeleteNothing says lovin'
ReplyDeleteLike something from the oven
Old Pillsbury commercial, I believe, but it's even more true when it's homemade! We aren't the gushy types either. Pie says it all.
I can see the 'Bake off ' has had it's influence on you here.
ReplyDeleteLucky Chris
Briony

Ah..I was baking when Mary Berry was a gal
DeleteYou were something-off when she was a gal, I am sure.
Delete-unt
DeleteJohn, I could murder a pie like that. I don't bake pies - my O/H has diabetes. They look mouth watering, lucky Chris. So glad that he had a sfe trip home.
ReplyDeletethat's a nice welcome home present, however you should have made a Canadian Flag out of pastry to put on top!
ReplyDeleteHe's bought two canada bandanas for William and George!
DeleteThat's as romantic as it gets.
ReplyDeleteA love story with pies!
Delete"Nothing spells lovin'
ReplyDeletelike something from the oven"
Jono
DeleteHe loved the meat pie.....
Was too tired to cope the apple
True love. Huge smiles.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope he is now sufficiently restored to have the apple pie as well.
That's really sweet. I'd be very chuffed to come home and find two tasty-looking pies awaiting me! Mind you, I AM the emotional type and my reunions are always marked by hugs and kisses and sweet nothings.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful pies. What time shall I arrive? I've been away in the U.S.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
My apple pies look a lot like that. The apple one.
ReplyDeletePies speak LOUDER than words any day!!
ReplyDeleteYou are the best sort. I'd rather have a homemade pie than roses any day.
ReplyDeleteOne apple, one beef. Like the two of you!
ReplyDeleteThey've always said the way to man's heart is through the kitchen.
