What the time Mr Wolf?

Although I am not a member of the community council anymore, I have been asked to help with their " official" website and will be one of two people in the village that can amend and update information and notice boards etc.
Many of the photographs and local history information I have already collated and given to the website designer, but today she will be giving a few people from each village ( we share our local council, remit with our sister village of Gwaenysgor)  a tutorial in all things " web"
Subsequently I have been racing around to complete the necessary jobs before I need to go out.
Being creatures of habit , after their first walk of the day, the dogs, one by one , all sneak up to bed for a crafty snooze on the bed.
I have have just caught Winnie doing the same, and as usual she studiously ignored me when I called our sternly
" and where do you think you're going?"
Bulldogs , when challenged like this will always be stopped in their tracks, but also will never look at you. It's a bit of a Mexican standoff ....or else reminds me of that game when you are kids where someone spins around and you have to be stock still in a line behind them? What was the game?
Was it ...what's the time mr wolf?
Anyhow , I can't remember....suffice to say Winnie stood as still as a statue for a minute or so....and when sufficient time had elapsed, and she thought it safe to proceed, she slowly took a few heavy steps forward, still keeping her eyes firmly fixed in front of her. Again I called out
" where are you off to?" And again she stopped until it was safe enough to step forward........it's a game we both play in the mornings.
A game she always wins.

She was unconscious with her tongue sticking out within seconds, so I left them all on the duvet and went to deliver eggs. A neighbour waved and called out that she had just heard that Robbie Williams had just died
Funny, I thought...... I was only singing "" Angels" to myself when sat on the loo before breakfast

  1. We used to play the same game but it was called " one two three salted fish". I don't know why,

  2. Just love that photo.

  3. awwwww!

robin williams the actor died, not robbie williams the singer. age 63; suicide. too many head demons/addictions took him down. "mrs. doubtfire", "the bird cage", "good morning vietnam", "dead poet's society", "the fisher king" - just some of his great movies.

  4. Without sounding callous, I wouldn't shed a tear for Robbie Williams. Robin Williams on the other hand - that left me quite upset. I grew up with Mork and Mindy, and several of his great films are amongst my all time favourites. Just goes to show we can all battle demons and sometimes the demons win.
I think my 2 dogs have been reading your blog. Izzy has always been a lazy moo and will stay in bed all day with OH when he gets home after doing nights, Kimi on the other hand was always up and about with me and happy to spend all day marauding around his territory. Now he has decided the duvet is too tempting so I sit here all day on my own! Pah to that

  5. We are all shocked to hear about Robin Williams committing suicide. How very sad for his family and those who loved him. He was so talented but his demons were many.

  6. It's not "what's the time mr wolf?" it's "What time is it Mr Wolf?". Regarding your daily dump, I also get that feeling whenever I hear the vastly overrated Robbie Williams. Shame it was Robin who died - a comedy genius.

  7. Robin Williams was so gifted and brought so much joy and laughter. A permanent solution to a temporary problem? You just sit and think what could have been done to save him. Love that photo of Winnie!

That poor dog. That picture reminds me of photographers zooming in on athletes so you can see their every pore. At least Winnie doesn't have pores.

I've been blogging for a few years, and I've never seen such a reaction to a person's death. RIP Robin Williams.

Does she wag her little stump of a tail whilst playing the game? What a sweetie she is. As to Robin Williams....as sad day indeed.

  12. Yes ... What time is it Mr Wolf? it kept us amused for ages playing it in the street or playground when we were little. I'm surprised there's not a computer game version of it for todays children.

Suky, the Pug does something very similar but holds her head down and then slowly swivels to look at you out of the corner of her eye before proceeding anyway.

Sad to hear about Robin Williams, the line between comedy genius and manic depression is a fine and tight one. I feel for his family, as now hopefully he is at peace.

  13. I would be so tempted to pinch that tongue...

Never be a comedian...they all seem to suffer from depression....the irony of it

  14. We played "What's the time Mr Wolfie?" in the school playground. The Scots have a great habit of adding 'ie' or 'y' on to the end of words. In the north we are offered a wee baggy at the shoppy to take home our shopping in. You walk up the pathy to your hoosie.

I was shocked and saddened by the news about Robin Williams. I loved all his films and watched Mork and Mindy as a child. I too hope he is now at peace and no longer suffering.

    2. Where are you in Scotland? We're up north. When we lived in the south, it was a very different 'language'. I should have said in the NE Scotland! Our ears definitely took a while to adjust to the local accent up here.

  15. We also played that game, but said "What time is it, Mr. Fox?"

  16. The dog is truly a pistol and quite the gift.

Robin Williams was so talented and it really is incredible what an impact his death is having. Maybe, just maybe, serious mental health issues will get the attention and funding they so desperately need.

  17. I wish I believed in heaven (or god), because if I had the wit I could imagine Robin's dialog with St. Peter at the pearly gates. A sad, sad event.

  19. Granddaughter is visiting and we were watching "Robots" and I was laughing with Robin Williams.
My dogs do that too. Or they will look everywhere but at you. Gosh I love them.
Do you ever get any time to sleep ?

    cheers, parsnip

  21. She's got you wrapped around her little paw,has that Winnie! I always thought that Robin Williams had a certain sadness behind his eyes. Wasn't there a suicide scene in Dead Poet's Society? Life imitating art this time. Poor soul x

  22. What a delightful picture of Winnie - a good antidote for days when bad thingst happen to good people. There is so much we don't know about brain chemistry, and some depression just doesn't respond to medication.

    1. You are so right about there being so little understanding of brain chemistry & mental illness. Most people just think you should take some drugs & tell you to "get over it". They have no idea what real depression is. After working in mental health for decades I have seen so many good people unable to resist that fleeting moment of suicidal impulse as they only way they can see to end their emotional pain. Mr. Williams seemed to be a very sad core since his heart surgery and there is much evidence linking heart disease & open heart surgery to serious depression. The mind seems to not be able to handle trauma to the heart. Someday I think they will find that the heart truely is connected to our soul. People need to stop stigmatizing mental illness, shaming those who suffer from it & support them & their families & reseach. To not recognize mental illness as part of the human condition is to deny that we are emotional beings & we have lost millions of good people to suicide because of it.

  23. Give Winnie a hug. I am sad about Robin Williams today too...he was with me the whole time I've been growing up; The Fisher King is one of my favorites. I think I met him as Mork though.

  24. Winnie looks like she is giving you the raspberry in her sleep.

Robin Williams was a remarkable man, we need to remember him that way. I hate how the media is having such a circus.

  25. I feel so sad about Robin Williams, and the despair he must have felt. :(

  26. I'm coming to visit you from Jim, and I see I have much to learn. I'll have to come back. Winnie is obviously quite smart.
