Mr Butler, our Elvis loving , national flower judge agreed with some humour , to judge the blogger " novelty veg" competition
The winner was kitty from New Zealand
And second was Rachel's " tits"......
In my speech I told the story of how the whole spectacle came to pass.
I will add a few photos taken by Chris and talented fellow committee member Hannah
And I am off , for a lie down in a dark room.
Suffice to say
Thanks to all involved
Som of the flower show committee

ReplyDeleteThank you for posting so many pics of the vegetables, flowers, tablecloths, Trelawnyd residents ….. I was drooling over all of it. I love the vegetable display on the black cloth. It looks like a still live painting.
ReplyDeleteAnd Rachel won?!?!?!?!?!? Hot diggety dog!
Bro,
ReplyDeleteMy monster veg is going to get your novelty veg next year,
Love Ann x
Sorry, but I think it's bordering on a crime that the Yellow Pepper 'Scream' did not get even a mention - that was truly a work of minimal effort for maximum results. I do love the Green Man and Tits, though.
ReplyDeleteWas that OUR Rachel???!!! Pride is welling up in me (amongst other things).
DeleteYep. It was me.
DeleteI love that you Brits say "our____" I love that. Our Rachel.
DeleteIt looks like it was a great success! Wish I could of been there. I know it required a lot of hard work for all of those involved. Get some rest!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Kitty and Rachel.

I need to wait till I'm back on my laptop to see all your wonderful snaps of all the different entries - thank you so much for sharing the day with us, and for your wonderful novelty veg event. I loved it and all those excellent entries ;)
Bless you. Sleep well.
It's not the winning, it's the taking part that counts. I'm going to go and sulk in the corner anyway. (Well done Kitty.)
ReplyDeleteOMB, the FABULOUSNESS of it all!
ReplyDeleteI wish I were there in person to taste the goodies, sniff the flowers, admire your mum's linens. and I can see how the multi-colour sweater won first prize; it's spectacular (coming from a knitter).
congrats on it all, john. you deserve a lie-down and a drink!
Congratulations to one and all. And you deserve that lie down.

DeleteCongratulations on your wins John- well deserved! The committee put on a fabulous show this year. The photos reveal lots of entries, amazing color and plenty of talent. I am so happy that your & boiled fruitcake wins have restored your honor & knocked Terry on his arse. Lie down and put some leftover cucumber slices on your eyes and put this all behind you - until next Spring rolls around again.

Other winners you may recognise was
DeletePat the animal helper ( who got most points in the domestic class)
Cameron won junior butterfly cakes and affable despot Jason's daughter got second in the novelty veg!
Well done to you and the committee, John, for such an excellent show. It gets bigger and better every year and the standard of entries in all the categories is fantastic. And now it's gone global with a winner from New Zealand - it would be interesting to know how many countries were represented in a small Welsh village!
ReplyDeleteLol says she....... The winner of the hanging baskets
DeleteWow, that dahlia is breathtaking, so is the gold rose. And I covet the gorgeous stripey cardigan, I would wear that in a heartbeat. The wild green broccoli man is splendid, a worthy winner. Go kiwi! Love it! And big congrats on besting Terry. In fact big congrats to everyone.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for all the beautiful photos! So many beautiful flowers and all the baked goods looked so yummy...that lemon curd is to die for!!! I loved your Flower Show and almost felt like I was there with everyone! And, John, your embroidered tablecloths look so lovely and "perfect fancy" for the special day.
ReplyDeleteI love the pics! What a wonderful event.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good day out.
ReplyDeleteThe tables with their cloths looked lovely.

What an effort!
ReplyDeleteSo much fun to see all the photos - I feel as if I've been to the show myself! Well done to all the workers, judges, and entrants. What a show!
ReplyDeleteFantastic, wish I was there, thanks for including all of us in the event.
ReplyDeleteLooks like an amazingly grand event, John. Congratulations to you, and everyone involved.
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations to all the winners!
Well done and cheers for all the fun. Was an absolute blast and very appreciated xx
ReplyDeleteI love it that a Kiwi was a winner... yay for us! Loved all the entries, the cakes, and the preserves, the flowers were amazing and the veg basket that won best in show were brilliant specimens. I love village shows and miss them terribly..but we have a similar thing at our local A and P shows (agricultural and pastoral) which is also a yearly event and entered by just about everyone in our little town. Love the tablecloths John they looked fab. Well done to all the hard working committee members, it takes work to pull it off well.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland, NZ
What fun! Thanks for sharing all the pictures, John...and congrats on your wins! Congrats to Kitty and Rachel too...you did us all proud. :)
ReplyDeleteWell done on your wins, there was a lot of competition I see.
ReplyDeleteI was going to comment on most of the pictures, John, but decided to say that I loved it all. I especially appreciated that you let us all share in this event.
ReplyDeleteWell done John, I know how much work goes into organising these things.... I did it ONCE myself. Congrats also to Kitty and our own National Rachel.
ReplyDeletePS, where does all that lovely food go? Does everyone eat their own entry, do pies get swapped? Just looking at the 'Baking' table makes my mouth water...
ReplyDeleteWow, what a talented village you guys have! A huge well done on pulling it all together and creating success a successful event.
ReplyDeleteI think you deserve a nice lie down.
And how nice to include the blog competition too.
Well done on all fronts. WE are eating boiled fruit cake fresh from the oven as I type. PS Yes, it is hot, it did crumble and it is divine, and I don't care, I had to, under the circumstances xo PPS not your recipe, the Edmonds Cookbook recipe, which in NZ is sacred.
ReplyDeleteOh John! I'm in awe of the Trelawnyd Village show!
ReplyDeleteI must do an entry next year!
Should have had a bet on the Novelty Veg winner!
Trelawnyd went Global this year hey?Of course, a great deal of the input was due to you too, you deserve a couple of the best scotch eggs and a bottle of something delish to celebrate!
With The Wedding coming next year, will you still be able to to do so much for the show?
I think that the Beeb should do "A Year in Trelawnyd", it would have a Global following lol!
Have a great day today and feel the love and appreciation coming your way from everywhere!
Wonderful ! So glad your adorable penguins won !
ReplyDeleteAwesome, everyone put loads of work into the show to make it a huge success I am sure! Thank you for sharing John, amazing to see how you villagers stick together.
ReplyDeleteNever was the phrase "Bloomin' marvellous' more apt!
ReplyDeleteI think the tits should have come in first.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
You would xx
DeleteFantastic pictures John - it looks like it was a great day!
ReplyDeleteThought you might like to see this (seeing as you think I bring the worst out in my hens!)
