Obviously enjoying each other's company! Funny at the end, too, when the magpie flips over and over on the clothesline. We used to do that at our two-room schoolhouse, on the bar that held the legs of the swing set apart. Enjoyed this :)
I've never seen a playful magpie of the thousands I must have seen. I was waiting for things to just go so horribly wrong, but they didn't....this time.
Memories, I grew up on a farm and we often raised baby maggies when Dad found a nest with no mother. They lived in the sleep out attached to the house and had an open window they could come and go as they pleased. They always returned. The antics in this clip brought back so many memories of their playing with the cats.
Crikey...how unusual....I thought the bird might be injured at first but they really are just enjoying each others company...so lovely. ps I want one of those big umbrella type washing line thingies that the woman is using.....
Lovely clip, Magpies are such intelligent creatures. I read a wonderful book a while back called Corvus, A Life with Birds, in which the author raised a magpie that would talk. It is also interesting to see the different colouring of Magpies in Australia. Thanks for sharing, made my morning :)
Hilarious!

ReplyDeleteVery refreshing to see different creatures playing together.Have you ever seen that clip of a rabbit and duck?
ReplyDeleteThough quite amazing must admit I was biting my nails for the safety of both of them. But they survived these (nearly) four minutes, at least.
ReplyDeleteOh darn, I can only see a lego brick. Stupid phone... will have to check it out later!

There is one magpie out here that loves to play with a neighborhood cat, and the two of them do much of the same thing as in the video. :) So cute. x)
ReplyDeleteHow's the morning after John? Enjoying the afterglow or a bit empty?
ReplyDeleteExtraordinary...if only we could all get on like that!

ReplyDeleteThis is delightful John. How are you feeling on the morning after?
ReplyDeleteThey are very pretty birds but the noise they make is raucous and grating.
ReplyDeleteI love the cat meowing in the background. Sounds like ours when she wants to join the dog outside. Wonder what that scenario would look like here??
ReplyDeleteAw that's so cute!
ReplyDeleteLovely !
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip
Truly amazing.
ReplyDeleteI was expecting it to end badly either for the bird or the dog's eye... I suspect it might yet. Very interesting clip.
