Arsehole

Wednesday night is Bake off night.
It's when I spend a happy hour, tut tutting at the state of a sponge Finger and texting back and forth with best friend Nuala about the state of someone's baked Alaska.
Tonight was just a little different
For every time the slightly big headed know all Luis came on the screen, showing off his magnificent sauce sponge puddings, Chris would pipe up from his comfortable position on the couch with a rather surprising and uncharacteristic shout of
" ARSEHOLE!"
It was only then I realized he had taken one diazepam ( he's flying to canada this weekend and wanted to see if the prescribed medication he may use on the flight would affect him in any way)
Thank goodness " The Great British Bake Off" isn't shown on British Airways' in flight entertainment !

    3. To cast such an aspersion on the character of the blessed Trelawnyd church cleaner is an outrage. (Said in a Brian Blessed voice)

  4. I am always shouting at the tv, or laughing my head off at something. Especially Cuckoo and Almost Royal TV programmes.

  6. Kind of a let it all hang out medication? No inhibitions what so ever! Or just like Chris....a man of few words but he makes each word count. Love it!

  7. Suddenly I am seeing Father Jack in his chair hugging the whiskey bottle and shoutinng Arsehole! With apologies to the very sartorial and debonaire Doctor Chris!

  8. Perhaps an in-flight movie will draw the cry of arsehole from Chris. If I were on that flight, I would find it extremely amusing. Tell him to be sure to wash down his medication with plenty of alcohol.

    Love,
    Janie

    That's Valium? Right? My favorite.

    1. Yes, you are correct. I like it, too, and haven't had it in quite some time.

  10. Oh... I hope not see on the news a flight turned back with fighterplane escort and a man screaming "arsehole" dragged off.

    A nervous flyer I presume.

  15. Maybe you should take a diazepam as well, and settle in for a raucous evening of freestyling commentary.

  17. Chris is too cute!

  18. Could be a case of tourettes brought on by the diazepams.

  20. Probably a 5mg tab of valium, yes? Depends on what you want the result to be....sleep on a plane I'd do 10mg, 5 is just a maintenance dose.
It's what, a 5-6 hour trip to Eastern Canada, an half-hour before boarding should be about the right time, otherwise adjust accordingly.

  21. I thought the petulant Irishman having a strop at some melted ice-cream was more of an arsehole! Interesting to see how Sue handled it......well, without a script to follow she couldn't, could she?

  22. Haha. Goodness. Let's hope no one makes him mad on the flight!

  23. Thank you for not divulging who was thrown out; I can only get to see the Sunday repeat.

  24. It sounds like Chris has a delicate constitution it comes it drugs that lower one's inhibitions. Given he's a lightweight, Chris may want to start out only taking 1 or 2.5 mg dose at most to avoid becoming a belligerant & unruly passenger. I would hate to see Chris's flight returning to the UK & be removed from the plane in a straight jacket just because he took a tad too much Valium. By the way, why did you waste your time accompanying Chris on that boring trip to Sweden, when a trip to Boston was coming up? Even a native New Yorker like myself would jump at a chance to visit Boston - one of my most favorite cities in the US. Perhaps you should go with Chris to make sure he behaves during the flights. Chris should consider skipping the drugs, drink plenty of water and fall asleep naturally for a 2 hour nap prior to arrival.

  26. I was prescribed diazepam for a recurring frozen shoulder a couple of years back. When I questioned this, my GP said I wasn't to worry, it was the 10mg tablets that had a street value.

TV shouting in this household is usually aimed at more precious episodes of Grand Designs. And trailers for Krusty Allslop programmes.

  27. So funny.
I've never considered valium to get me through a flight. I'm waiting impatiently for the UK to follow Colorado's example and make cannabis legal. Can you imagine an entire plane filled with laid back passengers?
My TV outbursts are confined to adverts and Question Time.

  28. Sorry somebody took that baked alaska out of the freezer and caused a sudden hissy fit (understandable) but I think that chap would probably have gone out anyway - he nearly went last week.?

PS I quite like Luis. (perhaps he is a ladies' man)

  29. And Sue won't get to see his beard grow to Gandolf proportions....or anything else for that matter!
Late onset tourettes brought on by Diazepam......chuckles and fat belly wobbles, knocks over tea.........Chris is right though!

  30. A sad night for Bake off with the melting icecream debacle and hot tents and heads.

Why didn't the girls own up to removing Ian's icecream from the freezer. Sabotage!!

  31. Sometimes I enjoy a good shout at the TV

  32. I wonder why the Great British Bake Off happens in a tent. Why can't it happen in a building? It was clear in yesterday's show that the heat in the tent was having an adverse effect on the baking - especially those baked alaskas.

Sounds like he's going to be a treat on that flight.

  34. Love it. If Chris takes 2 diazepam before his flight to Canada, they wont need any other in flight entertainment. Wish him a good weekend and a safe trip from me.
