Scarecrow Entry

What have I done so far today?
I have shopped at the supermarket,
Collected bags of corn from the wholesaler,
Fed and watered a score of animals,
Delivered eggs and flower show schedules,
Run around with the Hoover,
Cleaned up William' s wee accident,
Made the bed,
Topped the berlingo up with radiator coolant
Walked the dogs
And made this..
a prototype alternative " scarecrow"
 For the Prestatyn Flower Show

Ok it doesn't quite look like a hen
But it will
The postman was quite impressed
But he did give me a the kind of look
Which said
" how old ARE you?"

  1. My my! What a busy little bee you are! Suggest you take the rest of the week off, save for asking said postman HIS age.

Btw: For your 'scarecrow' to work don't birds have to be afraid of hens? Perhaps they are; I dunno. Or is it intended to be just ornamental - but then why 'scarecrow'? (Apologies for the nit-picking.)

  2. I think your efforts are looking pretty spectacular. I've spent the last half an hour talking to the worms in my new wormery and chatting to the wasps who have made a nest in our bathroom vent. All the while I could hear my OH muttering that I'm a certified nutter so you are not alone :)

  5. Actually, if you cut off the beak and made a squarish face it could just as easily be that georgeous Scottie and think what that would do for his self-confidence - that AND a whole packet of pork luncheon meat in one week and he would soon be top dog.

    1. I second Weaver idea !
Love the idea of a hen scarecrow can't wait to see the finish piece but a George scarecrow standing proud will be outstanding !

      cheers, parsnip

  6. I dunno, it's realistic enough that I wondered which hen you've got under that papier mache! Your work pace is fearsome. Tip of the hat to you!

  7. Marvelous John, just don’t go all paper mache crazy like our crazy cat lady who has made papier mache cats by the dozens and has them looking out every window of her house and into ours. Sooo creepy!

  8. Just needs a coat of hen paint, though I am with Raybeard in wondering if birds will be scared of a hen!

  11. When you "run around with the hoover," does this involve plugging it in and actually using it to sweep the floor? Or do you just run up and down the village streets with it like some sort of Crossfit event?
