Nice

In today's " need a bit of an edge" media...the word " nice" seems to be a bit of a swear word. On tv nice does not seem to cut it.
And so, I have to congratulate the BBC for staging the formulaic but entertaining Celebrity Masterchef  for the majority of the celebs they chose, turned out to be thoroughly decent, and nice individuals.
It made for a very refreshing change.
The finals ( shown last night) had the supermodel and jolly hockey sticks Jodie Kidd, cooking against actress Sophie Thompson and the explorer Charlie Boorman. All were a real delight to watch.
In the end it was the ever whispering , self depreciating and slightly Barmy Sophie who won.......and it couldn't have happened to a nicer woman.
In view of my previous sad post........I needed a nicer story.......

Sophie Thompson.. Above in Masterchef...below in Gosforth Park

  1. We have thoroughly enjoyed this series so entertaining. Loved it when Wayne Sleep danced away when he was out of the contest !- Sophie is so different from her sister emma Thompson !

  4. Watched it last night before I went to bed. Needed a bit of 'niceness' before bedtime. (Sophie's chocolate dessert was amazing!)

  6. I love Sophie, how can someone be so beautiful and act 'plain' (Gosford) and 'spooky/evil' (eastenders) is amazing.
Nice is what we (I) need in this horrible world we are experiencing at the moment. Avoiding the news where possible.
You are always here for a giggle or something thought provoking, thank you.

  7. I adore Charley Boorman. I love the motorcycle travel documentaries he has done with Ewan McGregor (yum).

  8. Never watched this but if Charley B. still has that chin-tuft I'd find him damn hot. I'd even forgive him for having a Dad who's made some of the most boring films since, well, around 1910.

  9. Looking at her role in Downton it looks as though they really chose a good cook as she has just won Masterchef if you see what I mean.

  10. Nothing wrong with being called nice. I would consider it a compliment. Nice in my book equals kind + thoughtful + cheerful + honest + trustworthy ... all good things.

  11. That was nice, John!
I like Charlie Boorman. He traveled by motorbike with Ewan MacGregor from London to South Africa a few years back.....LOVED that series.

  13. Most importantly, they look like they are having fun. Most people involved in these sorts of shows take themselves way too seriously.

So happy Sophie won. She was my dead hot favourite. I liked her attitude, her personality, her spark. If I could apply to be her friend I'd join the queue.

  15. You've hit the nail on the head. The contestants in this entire series were simply 'nice' weren't they. I've loved every minute of this series and am now sat back waiting for Bake Off to begin. I hope the contestants on that are as nice as they usually are.
