I have a good friend who has the same birthday as I do
Today I received this email from him
Hi JG
Today I received this email from him
Hi JG
Thank you for the small package that arrived this morning. I shall open it tomorrow. I am hopeful that its diminutive size does not reflect its value, although given the hastily-prepared package and careless handwriting, I suspect I will need (as usual) to prepare for a soupçon of disappointment.
He knows me so well
I sent him a tin of this from Tesco
It's a good thing your cuteness makes up for it!
ReplyDeleteSeaweed? Right up there with Haggis.....although I am a bit fond of Haggis.
ReplyDeleteewwwwwwwwwwwwww!
ReplyDeleteI wish you could buy that stuff this side of the estuary. It's great with a poached egg on top, if a little gritty.
ReplyDeleteI'll send you some
DeleteWhoopee!
DeleteCan't wait to see what he sends you.
ReplyDeleteLaverbread at Tesco's.... whatever next!
ReplyDeleteButtercups and Scotties - go well together.
ReplyDeleteLaverbread - I have never seen it but shall try putting it on my on line
order tomorrow and see what transpires.
Does that mean your birthday is tomorrow? If so, Happy Birthday.
I've never heard of it but then again I've only been to Wales once and that was when I was teeny weeny, we never left Pontins either! so maybe I could be excused?
ReplyDeleteIt's the thought that counts?
ReplyDeleteI quite like Laverbread …… we always had it for breakfast when we stayed with our friends in Porthcawl.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your friends email …… you've obviously known him a fair while and he's received presents from you before ….. he knows what to expect !!!! XXXX
It's the thought that counts, and it arrived before his birthday! I love the picture of George with the flowers.
ReplyDeleteIn case i'm not online tomorrow, i'd like to wish you a very happy birthday!
Cheapskate you may be. But! You remembered a friends birthday. You got off your arse and bought a pressie (or dug it out of the back of a deep dark cupboard) matters not!.
ReplyDeleteYou remembered his address.
You wrapped it.
Purchased a stamp.
Plodded to post office to post the bloody thing.
It may have been a disappointing pressie but it was a pressie!!!!!!!!
Definitely the thought and effort that counts :) Does your friend think you won the lottery?
ReplyDeleteNow I have to Google laverbread. The phrase "Welsh delicacy" is already making me leery.
ReplyDeleteNot your birthday tomorrow perchance? I never would have guessed as you haven't dropped enough hints!
ReplyDeleteYou travel in such a clever circle of friends (albeit possibly cheap and ungrateful).
ReplyDeleteWhilst it's not a patch on the fresh stuff, wish I could get even tinned laver in a supermarket in sophisticated old London. Would love to freak out work colleagues by taking some in for lunch (would be lovely with a hot bacon & potato salad)
ReplyDeleteho dear you have spoiled his suprise by putting it on your blog , i do like the suprise of a prissie best and do not reply with boooo
ReplyDeleteo i forgot happy birthday for to morrow hope you get a lie in
ReplyDeleteField wildflowers and a Scotty... Perfect
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great birthday.
I am drawing today !
Let there be cake !
cheers, parsnip
Love the email...and the wildflowers.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday.
ReplyDeleteNever tried it, and me half welsh as well. Have I missed anything?
ReplyDeleteHave a great day tomorrow xx
That Welsh delicacy looks scary. Happy Birthday.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Happy Birthday for tomorrow - may you have a wonderful day filled with lots of good things. xxx
ReplyDeleteYour friend's note made me smile. He does indeed know you well! Nice photo, with the flowers and George looking very fetching, peeping over the arm of the chair.
ReplyDeleteIt is now 7.15am 1st June which means it is your birthday here so Happy Birthday! Have a lovely day with Chris & your family & friends but remember there are a lot who can't be with you.
ReplyDeletePlease don't dribble on your new pants, remember you are growing up now! Xo
I personally love that unique bread! Happy B-day and blessings! Hope there was cake and streamers.
ReplyDeleteI've never come across laverbread. Sounds like a good present if he's never tried it before.
ReplyDeleteA strange photo of George. It looks like he has nothing but a head!
Sunday here already so from one Gemini to another Happy Birthday John!
ReplyDeleteOh I do love a good bit of cheapskatery! An old friend from uni and I shared a birthday and used to send one another the cheapest gifts we could find; it couldn't be free, however, that was cheating.
ReplyDeleteI once found a banged-up, pea green, whittled wooden stalk of celery for a nickel in a re-sale store; it was my best cheapskate gift to Kathy ever!
Oh, birthdays, have a happy one!
Happy birthday John!!!!!!!!!!!! xo
ReplyDeleteWell Happy Birthday to you both!
ReplyDeleteYou may be cheap, but at least you remembered. ;-)
Enjoy your Sunday!
Happy Birthday! Hope you have a memorable (in a good way) day.
ReplyDeleteI know it's late, (early?) wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday and couldn't find your email address. So this will have to suffice. These birthdays seem to be coming with faster turnaround time now, don't they?
ReplyDeleteHave a most wonderful birthday!
Happy Birthday !!! x
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday. George is clearly preparing for late night partying.
ReplyDelete:Happy Birthday John X
ReplyDeleteApparently the Royal Family only give cheap gifts to each other at Christmas, so you are in good company! Hope you have a lovely Birthday Day, and the sun shines for you ( It is glorious sunshine here at the moment) XX
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of George and the flowers :-)
ReplyDeleteSee I'm not even mentioning your cheapskate pressie ........
