Goggle- Eyes & GoggleBox

Chris and his mother have left Trelawnyd for a whole day's clothes shopping.
I cannot think of anything worse
So at the moment, as they are whipping themselves into a frenzy over the latest fashions I'm filling small plastic boxes with cauliflower soup to put into the freezer.
That will do for me.
Winnie.........
Sorrel will be glad of the respite. For Winifred has formed some sort of lesbian bulldog crush on my mother in law, spending much of her day making moo moo lip kisses at her whilst fluttering her eyelashes in a fair imitation of Beryl Reid from The Killing Of Sister George.
It's all a bit unsavory
It's also got to a stage where bulldog has been caught lying outside the bathroom door whilst Sorrel is in the bath......I wouldn't be at all surprised to find Winnie sneaking into Sorrel's bedroom sniffing in her underwear drawers.....
Anyhow , on a lighter note, I must share with you a " must see" tv programme from the Channel 4 stable.
Gogglebox has a simple enough format. A selection of British " families" are filmed by a " secret" camera while watching a selection of programmes. Their reactions, observations and interactions make up the majority of the show, and the resulting footage provides an entertaining and fascinating snapshot of society in the UK today
The most endearing couple of tv watchers are posh bread and Breakfast owners Steph and Dominic. The couple sit hand in hand with each other and down what seems like a whole bottle of gin a night as they slurr away happily at whatever the producers have to show them.
It's surprisingly funny and affectionate tv making

  3. An 'error' occurred when I tried to watch that clip. Just to say that I heard one definition of what makes a 'cad' on the radio this morning, and it was anyone who waxes the tips of his moustache...

  4. LOVE Steph and Dominic and the two black women. Great show. My old man doesn't see the point of it.

  5. For a worrying moment I thought the picture was of Sorrel, phew! Were you the tiniest bit jealous at Winnie's desertion? Oh and I'm with you on the soup versus shopping scenario. I'm also with Thoreau when he said 'beware of all enterprises that require new clothes' As a '60s girl that is quite a change of heart. Still I suppose a wedding should be an exception.
Had a rant with a good friend and former social worker yesterday. Her sister, a staff nurse on Oncology was run ragged over the weekend trying to cope with too few staff. My friend's wealthy brother in law had visited and bitched about the NHS. We both agreed that the private sector doesn't bother itself with any of the critical services, A&E, sick disabled kids, etc etc. Have your hip replaced privately, get an infection and off to the good old NHS to pick the bits up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Doesn't go on the private hospital's statistics. Hell sorry about the rant. Clearing out daughter's hoarded flat is taking its toll!
    Love Janx.

I hear ya about the shopping; most disgusting, boring, inane time waster ever invented. and I'm a girl; I'm supposed to LOVE shopping - what an awful stereotype!

  10. I'd have loved to see you and Chris featured in "Gogglebox" - passing judgement on a whole range of programmes while your animals scratched, slavered and trumped around you. Shirley and I love the programme. What about the mute lad on the sofa with his distant expression and bad hair? What's he thinking?

Maybe some day soon. Have you been following the new puppies posts? we actually have one right into Yoga already. Our regards to Winnie & Sorrel. xx

    1. No Delores ...sorrel's sensibilities would centre upon a small poodle rather than a fat lesbian bulldog

  20. Not to worry, Winnie will be all yours again when Sorrel heads home. Bit of a fair weather friend... mine are that way too, with some people.

That commercial wouldn't last 10 seconds with DH at the remote.

  21. We've been watching Gogglebox all through this series, I'm so sad I missed the first series of it, it's the best thing on television at the moment. They have picked a perfect cross section of folk, we sit there howling with laughter and absorbing every moment.

Steph and Dom are brilliant :-)

We really will have to make plans to meet up one day instead of avoiding each other so nicely :-)

  26. Winnie just needs a little female bonding time. The commercial reminds me of the Budweiser Clydesdale commercial which most people enjoyed more that the super bowl!

  27. We don't usually watch TV but I took my Granddaughter to watch frozen at Christmas and sat blubbering at this advert! how sad am I? Actually looks like quite a funny program x

    2. Rev! Yes...and wasn't the latest episode absolutely brilliant. As for Olivia Colman, she was a voice in the film Locke that we saw the other day, and then was on every TV channel when we got home...very very talented lady!
