Just got in and have realized that I haven't posted my " favourite person" blog entry for a while now......consistency was never my strong point.......
Ok so here goes.......... My fav person today is actress, playwright , theatre director and comedian Kathy Burke.
A woman of great warmth, humour and talent.........
I would love to go to a London Pub with her for a whole afternoon....one of those dark wooded ones that look like a set piece from a Jack-the-ripper movie

I'm sorry to say I don't know of her but I intend to seek her out online and see if she's got some youtube (or other video) clips out there!
ReplyDeleteSide note, I remember a few weeks back when you posted about Clarissa from Two Fat Ladies, did I see correctly that Jennifer passed recently? The end of an era. I was always partial to Clarissa but the two of them together were hilarious. I'd love to see what they are cooking up now, LOL!
Jennifer passed around seven years ago
DeleteKathy Burke is just bloody brilliant, I agree and an afternoon boozing with you two sounds excellent! can I come too? x x x
ReplyDeleteI've seen Kathy Burke both being wonderful, and being extremely sultry. I wonder which is the 'real' her. I hope on your pub' visit it's the former.
ReplyDeleteFirst time to your blog...it's hilarious....I love your dogs and my favourite pic is the one of you in bed with them all...gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love George and John makes me pmsl most days which is quite easy at 43!
DeleteLove love love Kathy. Great choice.
ReplyDeleteLove Kathy, we don't see enough of her. I could listen to her talk for hours. As a side note, she is the doppelganger of my cousin's wife. My cousin's wife (ahem my age 52) who doesn't know who her father was, and was brought up by her grandmother. (not far from 'sarf Lundun').
ReplyDeleteSusan x - watching too much 'Dead Famous DNA.
Or Mildmay Kathy as she was know in the 80's by friends on the mod/suedehead scene.
ReplyDeleteKnow what you mean about old London pubs, but they are few and far between these days. When lived in Archway, my local was one. The newest addition to their decor was a photo of the 1971 Arsenal double winning squad (this was the mid 90's). They even had a mummified cat in a box.
Being on Highgate Hill, the pub was called the Whittington and Cat. Located next to a teaching hospital, and with so many Camdenites and musicians on its doorstep, it was never known as that.
yes yes she is one of the best when you hear the few interviws she does she is soooo down earth dam good choice
ReplyDeleteI think she is a brilliant actress and comedian. She just comes over as so natural and down to earth, a nice change from the 'celebs' of today.
ReplyDeleteYes, I can just see you and K.B. together, sitting cosily in a pub corner, scoffing Scotch eggs, downing jar upon jar of the local brew and guffawing like mad at each others apercus. It'd be a delight to behold!
ReplyDeleteI've loved her since Gimme Gimme, those two are geniuses together!
ReplyDeleteKathy Burke's 'Waynetta Slob' is forever burned into my brain. Love her
ReplyDeleteI like her cor blimey accent - it was really good when she played the high-flying fashion executive in Ab Fab. A real touch of authenticity.
ReplyDeletemagdna....... The best character in the whole show
DeleteVery funny and brilliant women, good choice
ReplyDeleteDid you ever see her in 'Gimme Gimme Gimme'? She and her co-star (his name escapes me now) were supremely funny. It's such a shame she has been cursed with mental health issues throughout her life. She's top class. x
ReplyDeleteI have a friend just like her.....right down to the voice and the hair
DeleteAnother trip to YouTube to find her. You have highlighted some wonderful comedians, never been disappointed.
ReplyDeleteLook for her her impersonation of the teenage boy perry
Delete"can I have a jam sandwich please Mrs Patterson?"
ReplyDelete"I am Smokin a fag!"
Lindy Lindy Lindy.
Can I join you? Especially if the pub does lunch. One of my fondest memories of the UK is pub lunches!
