I have chosen two winners
For this week's favourite person Thursday
Both characters have been well known for their
" take me as you find me" personalities
Both look like they can handle themselves very well indeed in a pub fight
And both, as far as I can judge would have been very good friends if
they had only met in real life.
Sour puss himself, sex on legs Mr Russell Crowe
A bit of rough
And the recently deceased Clarissa Dickson Wright
Barrister, cook, writer, tv personality, and "shoot EM, kill EM, eat EM "supporter
Honest and no shit!
Off to bed now for an hour after night shift...I am giving a lecture in the memorial Hall this pm
Wish me luck
knock it outta da park, john!
ReplyDeleteOk A M
DeleteWould Russell Crowe seem as appealing if he was just a road sweeper? Clarissa would always have been a favourite of mine, even if she'd been named Bunty.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen lesbian Bunty for a couple of weeks
DeletePerhaps SHE got into a pub fight
And to answer your road sweep question
Oh yes
Good; I hoped you'd say that.
Deletewhen am I gonna be on this list?
ReplyDeleteSleep well and dream of Russell, who looks particularly like John Culshaw in that pic. Perhaps they could swap jobs?
ReplyDeleteI read in one of the recent articles about Clarissa that she put two muggers into intensive care. It seems she was certainly able to handle herself in a fight!
ReplyDeleteKeith Floyd would be one of my favourite cooks. He also liked a good drink and listening to the Stranglers. Have you heard from Bunty recently?
ReplyDeleteNo not since she popped in the other week
DeleteI shall give her a ring
RusselL Crowe? Well at least his singing is as good as his acting - or is that the other way round?
ReplyDelete"I would beg to disagree, Tom, were it not that I just don't have the time, etc. and I have already covered this difference of opinion many times. Love, John".
DeleteI always sign off x not love
DeleteYou c*?!
I hope the lecture went well, I miss Two Fat Ladies Cook(ing)
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of Crowe, but I adored Jennifer and so sad that Clarissa has gone too now. Maybe the cream and lard wasn't such a good idea.
ReplyDeleteClarissa sounds terribly un-British. No wonder you like her so much, you old rebel you.
ReplyDeleteHmmm not so sure about Clarissa. She was too concerned about challenging the status quo so that she could appear as unique. Perhaps I'm wrong? Her buddy on the other hnd was absolutely genuine and completely gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteyum...russel crowe! i am sure your lecture will be wonderful!
ReplyDeleteQuite a shock there as I hadn't heard that Clarissa had died. Coincidentally I am just reading her autobiography. Unbelievably, it's almost 15 years since Jennifer died whilst filming the 4th series of Two Fat Ladies. RIP C & J.
ReplyDeleteI was sad to see of the passing of Clarissa. The show ended over 15 years ago, but I remember it fondly.
ReplyDeleteI would not like to be around Crowe when he is in a bad mood as his reputation is of a moody guy, but maybe that adds to his sex appeal.
Good luck John. You'll be great! x
ReplyDeleteTwo most deserving entries. I can say "yum" to both. :)
ReplyDeleteBreak a leg, John!
ReplyDeleteI've never been that fussed about Russell Crowe …… I need someone to make me laugh …. he always seems a right misery !!
ReplyDeleteI did like Clarrisa though …. especially when they were on the motor bike when she wore that leather hat and goggles !!
Sock it to 'em at the Memorial Hall tonight John. XXXX
'I am Maximus.....swoon, have loved him ever since Gladiator.
ReplyDeleteSad about Clarissa Dixon Wright. I am also reading 'Spilling the Beans' (thankyou Cro) so an especially poignant read. I had hoped she would make it to Famous Thursday.
Indifferent about Crowe. but I'll stick my neck out (uniquely?) to say that C.D.W. would on the list of my most UNwanted guests. Sad when anyone at all dies, of course - but will I miss her? Hell, no!
ReplyDeleteI liked him in L.A. Confidential. Of course he was 33 years old...
ReplyDeleteMe too... But having said that... So was i
DeleteAs all the old ladies in the village seem to adore you, and as most of them will no doubt be in the audience tonight - you need have no fear.
ReplyDeleteCrowe not my type. I am more of a George Cloony sort of woman.
Love Favorite Person Thursday !
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip
Oh, I didn't know that Clarissa died recently. What a shame to die so young. I never could decide which one of the two fat ladies I liked more. They were both one of a kind.
ReplyDeleteKnock 'em bandy.....as we say oop North!xxx
ReplyDeleteloved him in The Good Year and Gladiator. phwoar.
ReplyDeleteI have a book written by either CDW or the other fat lady whose name escapes my withered pea brain right now. it is about the history of British food. It is massive and a fantastic read.
I wonder why her parents gave her so many names?
