This is an exceedingly rare photograph
Meg, the old Welsh terrier has never taken to any other bitch
She has spent the better part of nine years, posturing and snapping at any female.
She has initiated numerous fights
She has bitten through a succession of leads when transferring aggression
And she has spent many a stress-filled evening making sure she remains top bitch in the eyes of alpha male me.
That is until today.
Today she sought out and curled up with the benign Winifred on the hearth rug
And stayed there, with her skinny little face resting on Winnie's fat biceps
For an hour or two.
It's not huge news in the great scheme of things
But
It certainly made my day
Another ringing endorsement for the sweet Winnie.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet.
ReplyDeleteMade my day too, John.
ReplyDeleteThat is VERY sweet. x
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful, peaceful sight. God bless them.
ReplyDeleteA sublime lesson for all of us.
ReplyDeleteGreat photograph, John. We have an old flat iron like yours. Does your stove have a back boiler? I reckon you would run a few radiators off that. Sun shining today for a change.
ReplyDeleteYes it runs the radiators AND heats the water
DeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis may be the answere to World Peace, a hearth rug before a hot fire.
ReplyDeleteDear sweet Winnie, that just made my day.
ReplyDeleteeveryone loves winnie!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww, it's true love. There's no other explanation. She was searching for her Winifred all those years...
ReplyDeleteBless em! How could she resist Winnie's charms? On a day like today it looks like a good place to be x
ReplyDeleteAwwwww, a cuddle and a nap in front of a fire, well done Meg for finding your tolerant streak and well done Winnie for allowing her to, lessons for us all.
ReplyDeleteAw look at them. Meg and her coat! They both need collars with diamonds now.
ReplyDeleteawwwwwwwwww sometimes you just need someone to snuggle with. And this was the day.
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip
I think that new is HUGE! I know exactly this situation you are talking about having had Jack Russell terriers for over 30 years. Don't you just love it when peace reigns in the household????
ReplyDeleteMaybe Meg was just cold?
ReplyDelete*slaps self for even thinking that*
It's an Awwww moment, no matter why.
Damn. I scrolled all the way down here to say, "Maybe she was just cold."
DeletePerhaps you are right suiz
DeleteI never thought of that bit of pragmatism
jenny_o beat me to it, though.
DeleteGreat you captured this in a photo. With this as example can world peace be far behind? Ha!
ReplyDeleteI wonder what happened to make Meg snuggle up like that ? Let's hope that they are now firm friends.
ReplyDelete……. and John, I have to say that, your carpets look very fresh and shiny bright. You're pretty good at the old carpet cleaning aren't you ?!! XXXX
If i were a dog then I would like to cuddle up to winifred - all that bulk spells comfort. Come to think of it, I am not a dog (nor a bitch for that matter) but I would still like to cuddle up to winifred.
ReplyDeleteThat's just lovely
ReplyDeleteThat's just lovely, John (I mean the idea of you as an Alpha-Male).
ReplyDeleteI can be butch you bitch!
DeleteDid you hear Evan Davies on R4 Today, today, talking about Barbie Dolls with Anne Leslie? Classic. Him: : "I like pink". Her: "Well you would, wouldn't you?" Naughtie: "Steady on, Anne Leslie..."
