Face time

Just received a FaceTime video of Chris enjoying his Christmas dinner with his family( he called in to see them all after working in London today)...
It was nice to see them all tucking into their supper
Even though I had just eaten my dinner of mushy peas on toast
William ( who lost his claw so painfully a few days ago) is milking his disability somewhat ( a trait in Welsh Terrier dogs I have to say) and has been sleeping like this on my knee all night after offering me his paw to inspect
He's such a sweet dog
Even though he's a drama queen

  1. I have noticed that in some people...milking, that is. May William heal quickly.

Glad Chris got an opportunity to share some time with family.

    Happy Holidays.

  2. Have been sharing the sofa with a tres stinky dog, The F*ckwit has given him verboten food again. Makes me mad to see him (dog) in such discomfort. I offered him (dog) a wheat free treat, I asked for 'paw', he gave me paw, sniffed the treat, and took his paw back! He truly is poorlysick. Even his hair is droopng.

  3. Oh, the drama of it all. At least dear William was in the middle of the drama. Had a Yorkshire Terrier once who invented it. When the suitcases came out for packing for a trip, Poppy (his name) started with a severely maligned paw that quickly escalated to a mortified limb. If he knew how to stand on two back paws, the limb that did not require amputation would be pressed against his dear little forehead. But, he went to boarding school, nevertheless.

  4. What a sweet scene with William offering you his injured paw, that extra attention might encourage a very slow convalescence.

  10. Years ago we had a collie pup who fell on the stairs and hurt her right paw. She got a lot of attention and "Poor Susie hurt her paw" and she would hold up her paw and look pathetic. Time went on and it no longer hurt but she still did the pathetic holding her paw up. Finally she forgot which paw it was and if the right paw did not get the "Poor Susie" reaction she would quickly switch to the left one.

  17. When I was growing up we had a Westie. One time she had a poorly leg and got so much attention and sympathy from us all.
Then one day I noticed she was limping on the wrong leg - I don't know how long she had been faking it for!

  19. My collie Faulkner could be a bit of a drama queen, but he learned from the best: Me.

  20. What a happily contented face William has. Tell Chris to bring you back goodies for being such a fabu caregiver.

  21. We have had drama queen cats. Including one who after surgery was temporarily partially paralysed. To the end of her days (and she lived a long time) when things didn't suit her the paralysis returned. Cream cured it. As did a lap...

Have a good weekend, John. ♥

  23. I remember my airedale showing me her 'poorly' bits. Normally so staunch, when terriers show it, you know they are not making it up. William is so lovely. Well, so are YOU John!

  24. If I'd had a finger torn off, I'd me milking the sympathy bag too (although I don't think I'd go as far as sleeping on your lap).

  25. When will Chris be back? And when will William get past the pain? Or is he already fine?

  26. Ahwww poor sweet William. He loves cuddling with his Dad. William will heal in no time & he will heal faster with lots cuddle therapy.
I am more concerned about your welfare John. Wasn't it a couple of days ago you were eating beans on toast and now, mushy peas on toast? For Gods' sake man, take those cute nonexistent buns of yours into the kitchen & make some decent food for yourself to enjoy.. A gentleman farmer nurse cannot exist on mushy this & that on toast. I'm sure these meals, and(I use that term lightly, are not in the Weight Watchers cookbook. Make a few good meals on your off day & the you can reheat a good meal on your busiest days. A stew, a pot of hearty soup or a casserole can be on the stove in no time. A dinner of mushy old peas on toast or canned legumes on toast sounds more lackluster than a prison meal. Eating that sounds more like punishment to me.
A grown ass man can neither subsist or stay healthy eating the crap on a shingle you have eating lately. Cook man cook! You need to treat yourself to something appetizing - even when you are eating in front of the TV with a hobbled terrier on your lap.

  27. William has all my sympathy. a blade slipped and sliced the side of my finger the other day. Required a trip to the minor injuries unit. Have I had any sympathy/assistance? Wish I had a comforting lap to curl up in.

  28. I think my Yorkie (Kimi) has been reading your blog as he limped thru the door a few days ago with a bloody dew claw. He's turned into a right snuggle puss and is happy for us both to inspect the 'poorly claw' amidst cuddles until he gets bored and then clamps his teeth around your hand!
Mmmmm mushy peas on toast - one of those fabulous foods I'm no longer allowed to eat. Have you tried them with mint sauce on? Totally delish

  29. Williams desire for consolation is understandable. When, say, one of my own 'members' is feeling sore I too like to have someone kiss it better.

  30. Sweet shot. I think drama queens are adorable... as long as they're Welsh Terriers.

  36. What a comfort you are to sweet William...with that injury he deserves all the snuggles he can get..
trying not to think of fuckwit...sure I'll say it out loud at work (hospital )

  37. Looking quite dapper there, John. And i'd love to give William a hug. What a cutie.

Sometimes i make meals that i normally don't eat when Himself is gone. I enjoy them, and get back to "real" cooking when he returns.

  38. We have one indoor cat and a part time indoor dog. (3/4 German Shepard and 100 pounds) When outside the dog is tough and takes on all the cattle in a bunch. Brave and strong. Inside if he bumps his head trying to get a toy from under the couch he whines until I pet him. Monsters all of them. Created by us.
