I am sitting here watching America's version of the show. They are also doing the Paso. Here the winner will be not necessarily the best dancer, but the one with the most fans. It is still fun to watch though.
Aw thanks for the link - I thought it was so cracking, I watched it again on Iplayer on Sunday!Just takes you out of yourself for a wee while, doesn't it?Go Susanna (and Kevin, he's so sweet).
I don't know anything about the Pasodoble except from 'Strictly Ballroom' the movie. I LOVE the bit where Fran's father shows Scott the proper way to dance it. http://www.miramax.com/watch?v=Fldm5tYTrse8Le-PmdLoD2ZV0CYt2aAh
Heehee. Thanks for the link, I was just thinking that very same thing, you've saved me having to go and look it up. I wonder if that influenced my thinking that even though the dance above was great, the music was badly chosen!
Co-indecently one of our dancing shows tonight featured Tina Arena nailing the Paso Doble with a score of 10. She is a resident of Paris and a recipient of the Legion D'honneur. Of course I do not watch such shows. It was just on.
No, no, no, John! I'm going to be the party popper, here. She stomps around like a buffalo! Here in the States we have 'Dancing with the Stars'. Last season was amazing due to the non-professional dancer Kelli Pickler. John (and everybody else), please go to youtube and look at the clip 'Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough - Supersize Freestyle - Week 10 The Finale'. Their dance is so beautiful. I dare you not to start bawling when you see it. Ok, I just watched it again and need to go get a hankie.
I'm so glad that some of you watched it already. When you see something so hmhm-good, you just want others to see it, too. Now we just have to get Cro to watch it.
Had a look..... Thedancingwas impressive but the pace of the show seems rather relentless when compared with the uk programme.... Mr hough is a sweetie
Would LOVE to see this show here! We watch 'Dancing With The Stars' here and are hooked! These two were good! I see Bruno and Len there too....they are probably permanently jet-legged!!
Dare I say that the farmer and I never miss it. That Paso Doble was cetainly very good, but others have been more consistently good I think. Sadly I don't know their names as most are soap stars of one kind and another and I don't watch any of the soaps. Patrick somebody, who is I think a Shakespearian actor is probably the most consistent. We shall see.
Yes, that dance was perfection! We have "Dancing with the Stars" her and sadly anyone can call in a vote so....it is more a popularity contest and I hate that fact. I love ballroom dancing and once I am 80 #s lighter and thirty years younger....I am going to take lessons.
Ah, to be able to dance. Alas, I am a klutz. I bet you can bust a move, John.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie

ReplyDeleteOur dear friend Manzanita would also love this. I suppose she only gets to watch "Dancing with the Stars". I think I got that right, Arleen.
ReplyDeleteGoodnight, I need some sleep :)
Stunning wasn't it. I think Susanne and Abbey are the ones to watch. neither classically trained. There are some crackers aren't there!
ReplyDeleteHow anyone can sit and watch a TV programme about people DANCING; I really don't know.
ReplyDeleteI've never understood how anyone could watch a show about people playing golf.
DeleteOr football!

ReplyDeleteHmmmmm. I'm with Mr C. Magnon here (and not for the first time) - but maybe that's 'cos I'm only jealous.
ReplyDeleteYou know it's good when the hairs on your neck start to tingle.

DeleteOne word, " FANTASTIC !"
ReplyDeleteShe has to win just because she is bloody gorgeous ....simple as that really ....and I don't watch the show .....
ReplyDeleteI don't watch 'Strictly' but I've seen clips of it. Those dancers really get a good work-out. Wish I had the moves to dance like that.

ReplyDeleteVery evocative !
ReplyDeleteGosh is all I can say as I sit in a fuddle of sleep after a large lunch!
ReplyDeleteJohn,
ReplyDeleteLove the dance, it remind me of living in Spain with the Flamingo Dance. Great job those two!!!

ReplyDeleteKelli and Derek are my all time favourites! Unreal!!!
DeleteI agree with Iris.

I have not been watching strictly this time around. I do think I may like to be flung around the dance floor though!

ReplyDeleteIt was very intense wasn't it. It's one of my least favourite dances on the show normally but that one was something special.

Every week Susanne stays in makes poor Bill Turnbull realise how much he let the side down.
