hey Ho

On videos, I always think as though I am suffering from a head cold.....it's all too nasal. Perhaps I should have cleared my tubes out with a good blow before I started..... Hey ho...I guess it puts paid to a late career in broadcasting.
Anyhow, here is the much requested view of the Church Cross ( well ok two of you asked for it)... I tried to inject a bit of va va voom into the presentation but failed miserably.......I feel a bit jaded today.... Watched the The Walking Dead TWICE ( back to back) last night... And got myself all over excited......hey ho again!
Right, I am now off to febreze the kitchen.
Winifred has bloody awful flatulence and  for some unexpected and gut churning reason William has just backed into the washing machine with a shitty arsehole.........
Hey, HEY ho!

  1. I am so glad you decided to show us more of the prayer cross. Hope the hey ho day turns around to be a ho hey day. It was a glorious 32 degrees C here in Cairns today ~ one of those when you feel alive with the sun and cool breeze on your skin. Hey ho :)

  2. I actually rather enjoyed that video, rather amazing to see something 700 years old.

  3. It sounds as though you are missing Chris. I hope you are not feeling so jaded now and have managed to do your febreezing and clean the bum print off of the washing machine!

  4. WAY too much information this early (here) in the morning! Thank you very much!! lol
As for your voice John, maybe you are just not used to hearing yourself talk. I know I don't think I sound the way I actually do.
Amazing how long that cross has survived. Thanks for sharing it.

  5. 700 years old. Very cool. Do you think Fabreeze really gets rid of odors? For some reason my nose still tells me there is something nasty smelling lurking beneath it. I've been trying to get rid of a sour smell on a carpet from when Baby lost her stomach contents 3 weeks ago...Darn thing still smells sour to me, after LOTS of carpet cleaner, enzyme treatments and Fabreeze. Sheesh. Have a good weekend!

  6. 700 years old, still standing and capable of fulfilling its purpose. Not like the junk we build today. Hope Mary enjoys her greens.

  7. TOOO Much information ( not the cross - all the other stuff!) Yuckity yuck.

  8. I forgot 'Walking Dead' was on!!Instead, I watched Sir Paul McCartney being nudged along a sofa by a load of nobodies!Huh!Then the progs on BBC Four about the Brit Rock Bands who invaded America in the late 60's/early 70's. I got a bit over-excited when Led Zep made their appearance - Robert Plant was an absolutely filthy, sexy Rock God (still is!).
Back to more sedate pastimes, could we have some film of the inside of the Church? It looks really tiny. Is it still in use?

  9. Is the background noise from the traffic?

You make Melvyn Bragg sound decidedly over active.

    2. I think it's the wind? Or possibly Winnifred's flatulence?

  10. Ha, the usual streamlined, super-efficient, high-gloss domestic scene chez John Gray....

  11. Thank you so much for the video. I am interested in all things old AND stone. The prayer cross is something that I would never be able to see, otherwise. I always enjoy your videos. Have a lovely weekend, glad that Chris is home.

  13. To me you don't sound nasal - but that's exactly how I think I come over when I hear my own voice - which is then shorn of bone-conduction, of course. So maybe it's an erroneous impression that many of us get.

  14. Had a bulldog with typical included aromas, got him a large breed pup that we fed puppy kibble for large breeds (less calcium or some such); bulldog started eating pup's food instead of his own and he stopped being so eye-wateringly odiferous.

  15. I made the mistake of reading your post before watching your video. After I snorted out my morning coffee, I tried to watch your honestly-very-interesting talk about this amazing historic cross but I kept thinking "shitty arsehole, shitty arsehole" and spewing coffee again.

  16. Thank you for the up close view. I enjoyed hearing your voice more soothing than my nasal twang.

  17. It seems to be a composite 'cross'. The top bit looks as if it was once free-standing, and someone has seen fit to stick it on top of a stone pillar.

  18. Love the videos!! So happy Miss Winnie knows she's home and also the " taming of the Ewes"!!

  19. TMI again but I wished I'd dug out the packet of Tena ladies this morning . . . "William has just backed into the washing machine with a shitty arsehole......." OH I HATE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS! (still chortling far too much to watch what I am sure is a very informative and BEAUTIFULLY narrated further video clip but will come back later when I have dried off !)

  20. Quite enjoyable John. In the new world, there are no markers of the past that are 700 years old or more. Also enjoyable is putting a voice to the character. I shall now try to read all your posts in that voice and accent...

  21. Thanks for filming this, John! I live here in 'the land of the new and the ugly' (USA) and, therefore, really appreciate the 'old world stuff'. Don't let it be too long before you post another exciting video of Trelawnyd or thereabouts!

  22. Thank you for sharing that little video, John - I enjoyed watching it

  23. John,

Nice video!!! I love old crosses, and churches.
    Thank you for sharing.

Light a candle, it will help get rid of the awful smell coming from the dog. Just don't forget about them.

  24. I think you have a lovely voice, I could listen to it for hours. And we ALL sound less nasal on the inside so to speak. You'll get used to it. :)

  25. 14th century! Now that is old. Amazing that no-one has damaged it. How wefined the village must be. Way tmi re dogs, with William neglecting his personal hygiene, a reason I am not keen on dog facial dog licks.

  27. Always good to put a voice to a face, John. Now I am back in sound I have a lot of catching up to do. The one thing I want to know: Will there be a time when we can transmit smell through media? What a stinker that would be.

Funny The Weaver mentions 'Strictly'. Was going to write you a totally idiotic observation last night on your beloved 'Bake Off' (which, on principle, I do not watch) in comparison to "Strictly Come Dancing." Can't remember now what it was. But it was good.

  28. That video really got my heart racing. Whew!

As for the smells (and more) in your kitchen: And here I thought it was bad when our cats use the litter box... once.

  29. Lovin the videos and the history lessons!

  30. While I don't put much belief into what they stand for, I admire the artistry of the crosses over time. Being from America, I have to admit that is the oldest one I've seen.
I've seen Myan ruins from Central America but those were lost for centuries and thus preserved. Yours has stood there in the church yard all that time. And yet it will be there for much longer.
