Bake off Week 5

It was biscuits and tray bakes
On The Great British Bake Off this week
Know all smiling Kimberly failed with her tweels
( how the mighty have fallen)
And my favourites Howard and Glenn managed to
Up their game with their biscuit towers
So they could fight another day

Howard cracked me up my describing his tweels as looking like " fagbutts"

Glenn , smiles his way through the  bake off
It's still all great fun
I was so excited by it all
I had to ring best friend Nu
For a post programme discussion .

Albert rubbing my hair with his paw during the bake off!

  2. It is jimbo
Howard is a bit of a quiet, geeky character with a wicked dry sense of humour.. He's like a Sheffield Alan Bennett
While Glen is a fat old queen with a big heart
It's better than watching SEX AND THE CITY

  6. Unfortunately, we don't get to see the show here in the States. But they are showing 'Masterchef UK' and I am totally hooked.

I have never understood why a tender little biscuit should be named after a roof tile. Tuile, indeed!

Isn't Alan Bennet a Leeds lad?

Tv, a nice nap and a scalp massage. Nice work if you can get it.

  9. You've trained Albert well. I would love to watch that show, but only if I could watch with you so you could explain everything to me.

    Love,
    Janie

  11. I haven't read your résumé (I presume that's what it is) because I watch the show on Sundays. It might spoil the ending!

  12. I really thought that Howard was a gonna this week until he redeemed himself with his wonderful tea flavoured Pagoda tower, it was Glenn's best week so far and Ruby sulked her way through it !!
....... and bloody Paul Hollywood really fancied himself this week in his black shirt ..... I'm so glad Mel joked about it !!!! XXXX

  13. I'm totally hooked on this programme.

Go Howard go, yay he did well this week!!

Tuille, tweel, whatever, what a daft name for a biscuit and what a load of faff, I'm sticking to my chocolate chip cookies (if you say it with a French accent they sound posh enough for me) dollops on a tray, in the oven, they come out .... and you can scoff them - sorted :-)

  14. Had to do a double-take when you wrote of 'fagbutts' - but I got there.

  15. This programme has definitely become my highlight of the week!!! I don't think I will be tempted to make tuille's though! Mary Berry is so exacting with her recipes isn't she?

  16. It was so.....uplifting. All the contestants are such nice people. I loved it when Howard said his biscuit tower was well liked - then said by his mum and dad !!

  17. First time I didn't get all emotional at the end....

  18. Was so nice to see the 'underdogs' triumph this week. Laughed hysterically when Frances' biscuit tower toppled (she gets right up my nose despite being our local contestant). I'm rather taken with Ruby and her total lack of confidence and as for Glen - can he come and live with me please

  19. I desparately wanted to get in on watching the TGBBO. For those who are interested, at least in the US, I found YouTube has several seasons and most of the current seasons episodes. So much better than that God-awful Cupcake Wars or anything else on Food Network. I am pacing the episodes, in hopes that British baking will be my quilty pleasure right up until Walking Dead Season 4 starts in a few weeks. Yes John, less than a month until the premiere & us addicts can get our zombie fix & we can both dream of what we would do if we were locked up in one of the prison cells with dreamy Darrell .
