Gone is the mop of " Dennis the Menace" hair and thanks to the ever cheerful groomer Jacky , George now looks slick and smart and all Art Deco again.
Scottish terriers only look their best when they have sharp corners.
On a Sunday ( if I am not working) it is customary for Chris to have breakfast in bed.
I walk the dogs beforehand, feed and let out the animals and with boiled egg firmly ensconced in flowery egg cup I lead the dogs back up to bed for their usual lie in.
There is a sharpness in the air this morning.
and the dogs become wonderful organic hot water bottles come autumn.
He DOES look good.

We define a cold night at a 'three cat night'. And yes, they too make wonderful organic hot water bottles - but bed hog severely.

ReplyDeleteWonderful picture, fully concur that this is how a Scotty should look! My late lamented "Sooty" (stupid name, chosen by previous owners who then dumped him!) a beddie/poodle cross(we used to call them mongrels, now they're "designer dogs"!) used to snuggle under the duvet, coming out now and again for a breath of fresh air! Many people (saddos) express disgust that I permitted this but I saved a fortune on heating bills!

DeleteI just love that expression, A dog with sharp corners. We had a Scottish terrier for 13 years. He was and still is sorely missed. They always look so good when groomed. I love George's sleek 'do! Great as hotties as well.

ReplyDeleteThat dog would make a great brooch. I think it is a North American Indian saying about when a winter night gets really cold, they call it a 'three-dog night', because that's how many you need to snuggle up with to stay warm.

DeleteBut . but . . but . . when I walk my dog, even briefly, he comes back wet, dirty and disgustingly smelly because he's pushed through wet undergrowth and explored every ditch, burrow or puddle. So what miracle happens to your pack to make them clean enough to sleep on white bedding? I really need to know.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous George! No, I've never followed wrestling, but I remember hearing and reading about him when I was a kid. Anyone old enough to remember? As for egg cups - I have to tell a story on myself. In 1974 when I spent 3 wonderful weeks in the UK, I stayed at my pen pal's father-in-law's home in Newcastle a couple of nights. Tony had been living with him since his wife died, and the 2 men were great hosts. The first morning they had me sit at the table while they did all the work - including cooking - and brought me a boiled egg in a little cup. And a tiny spoon. I was at a loss for words - I had never seen an egg cup before. Had no idea what to do. They instructed me, then Tony asked what I usually did with a boiled egg. I told him that if it was hard boiled, I just held it in my hand and whacked it with a knife, then scooped the insides into a bowl! They were both a little shocked, I think.

All cynologists I've heard or read said the same thing: there's no better dog then a scottish terrier. I'll wait till I move out of the city though and I hope they get along well with huskies! I'm a man of the North: I got to have huskies. ;)

DeleteI can vouch for those "wonderful, organic, hot water bottles" my Yorkies always slept under the covers, one in particular at the bottom of the bed, and kept our feet warm all night long :)

That first picture of George reminds me that "Netto" is no more in this fair land. Remember Netto's scottie dog - representing thrift. I still miss "Netto" - "Aldi" and "Lidl" aren't the same.

ReplyDeleteAnd your right they do look better with sharp edges. My Square Dog know when then look good and walk around showing off for a few minutes then go roll in the grass !

ReplyDeleteI love both of the photos. The first one evokes something deep within me, and the second makes me want to be part of the photo and hope there's room enough for me to snuggle with them.
ReplyDeleteBreakfast in bed, just totally sweet for the one you love. Now I must ask, are the dogs waiting for a piece of the egg too? My little ones are the worst beggars when it comes to food. I spoil them rotten :-)
