The Trelawnyd Flower Show 2013

I have posted just a few photos of the day...it's been tiring but very successful with slightly more entries than we had last last year. I will describe the whole event when I have more time, suffice to say that I need to give a big thank you to all that entered, the judges, the people that came to support the afternoon , the helpers and the  Trelawnyd Flower Show committee
So to Dawn,Heulwen, Gladys, Terry ( you bastard....I can't believe you got first in the quiche), Anne, Derek, John F, Julie, Hannah and Carol......and everyone else ... Thank you

  1. Wow, what a good turnout! Sadly, it doesn't look like many younger folks are getting involved though. Aunt Gladys is looking good!

    2. I'm actually still in shock about winning that one! I have only just woken up from a nap with my real Dachshund, hehe. Flower shows are exhausting and I didn't do nearly half as much as you. You must be shattered!

  11. Congratulations on a great turnout, such talent in the village !
An award should have been given to Aunty Glad for the prettiest flower of the day, complete with pearls no less for the occasion.

  13. Was there no Scotch Egg Category? Surely you should be chief judge and taster there.

Congratulations on your superb Cauliflower entry. That sounded a bit rude - sorry.

  14. John it all looks fantastic. I'm gutted that you quiche didn't get a first though. Terry looks very pleased - are you sure there wasn't a teeny weeny bit of bribery somewhere. (only joking - as if ....) Auntie Gladys looks beautiful as ever.

  22. Congrats on your cauli win, that is a very fine vegetable. First class! How did your vegetable basket do? Auntie Glad is looking beautiful in her pearls.

You must be exhausted, you deserve a day off now. You have to rest up to gather strength for the Open Day.

  23. Looks like a lot of fun and a great competition! My mother-in-law would be tickled pink if she saw this.

  24. John ~~ the quilt looks so good laying amongst all those other handmades. My Mom would have been tickled "fuschia" to see this. She had it laying over her living room sofa for years and my Grandma always had it on her lap.

Thanks and I'm sure whoever becomes the proud owner will be so glad they are owning a piece of history from Nova Scotia Canada!!

  26. Brava!!! Bravo!!! Congrats to everyone who won a prize, and to everyone who entered!

  27. Err...Picture 2 looks very similar to Picture 11. Is it a Spot the Difference competition? And Terry very definitely looks like the kind of guy who has a soggy bottom! You woz robbed Earl!

  28. That it is great to hear that you had more entries than before. I remember you lamenting last year that because of the aging population, you feared for the continuation of the show.

  29. What a lovely event. Love the carrot dog and the quiche looks delish.

  30. Congratulations, John, it looks like a grand success from here--quiche notwithstanding. I've just come back from seeing Red 2 and when I saw Gladys' picture I thought Helen Mirren had stopped by! Pondering Gladys with a semiautomatic weapon in each hand...one would shoot scones, perhaps the other jam?

    Rest well, you deserve it!

  31. Well now, it looks like the show was a bigger success than you'd anticipated. Guess you have no choice but stick with it for another year. Great job!

I'm sure that ribbon you're sporting is for:
"Allround great chap that made this years Flower Show another roaring succes and without whom our village would never be the same".

Hope the morning/week after brings you no blues, just soms contented afterglow. (my English is failing me, hope you get my drift.)

  37. You are surrounded by all anyone needs in life.....food and friends...and you are wearing a cracking fair isle sweater..you look tired but happy, and no wonder..glad you had a great time x

  38. You should have gone into the show early with a chicken in hand and let it shit on Terry's quiche. Oh, well. I'll bet yours would have tasted better than his!

  39. Well done on the Cauli - it's a beauty!!

  40. You all did Sylvaia Evans proud with all the lovely entries and better than expected attendance. I think Hannah's carrot weiner dog is hysterical The califlower poodle/sheep is also an object de art.
Damn that Terry & his quiche. You need to find a way to secretly divulge the specific ingredients you used so of us who also enjoy creating a great quiche may have a suggestion for tweeking an ingredient or two that will make Terry's quiche pale in comparison at next years show. I will help however I can to overthrow Trelawnyd's current King of Quiche & make you the rightful winner John. Since your eggs are the freshest & come from the most beloved hens, we know that no adjustment is needed there.
Auntie Gladys' has the sweetest smile. It was good to see her looking so grand. You looked jaunty yourself John. You must be exhausted, but proud of how well the show

We know that the eggs you used were the best, so into a 1st prize entry. We can't have Terry win 2 years in a row. Next year, you must seek to claim 1st Prize there must be a showdown or battle to cliam title of Trelawnyd,s Manliest quiche bakers.
