Only one of the 33 refugees didn't make it through the night.
She had hidden herself away in the undergrowth
And a pile of feathers laid testament to the fact that one of the field badgers had found her
The other hens, spread through the untidy collection of coops that make up theUkrainian village,
are awake and foraging with the field hens
Peace has returned.
The gravedigger arrived early this morning. As we speak, he is working away opening one of the graves in the new cemetery
It is Sylvia's funeral today at 11
I am helping out with other Flower Show Committee members and helpers at the memorial Hall
after the service
We are " doing the teas"
I say it again - I am fascinated by the lady with the hat and bobbles, but will refrain from making another comment about the bobbles unless you ask me to - again.
ReplyDeleteI cannot stop myself
DeleteOk, I'm asking
Ok... PHWOAR!!!
DeleteYes, I agree with Tom - that lady does rather stand out as being shall we say 'different' from the rest John.
ReplyDeleteAs for the funeral - glad you are helping and I know that
Sylvia will be there with you in spirit.
I hope you all give Sylvia a good "send off" - even the young lady with the weird hat bottom right. I assume she's the village idiot?
ReplyDeleteNo, you hold that title, YP.
DeleteYP is so subtle. I too am fascinated by the Welsh titfer. Is she perhaps a pawnbroker?
ReplyDeleteThat's a dreadfult thing to say
ReplyDeleteThat's Hannah, our youngest committee member.. Who was only having a bad hair day
She's a delightful character
PHWOAR!!!!!!
DeleteBad hair? Oh, I thought that was a woolly hat. What do you call that traditional Welsh hairstyle? ...Sorry we shouldn't really be jesting as the village says its last goodbye to Sylvia.
DeleteI will be most impressed if she made that hat herself though.
DeleteI wish I did, MissFifi, but it's from TopShop! And yes, a very bad hair day!
DeleteTake no notice of YP Hannah
DeleteHe's a lovely old buffer usually
i think hannah is cute! sylvia would like the turnout i am sure!
ReplyDeleteHannah's gorgeous, and you can't beat a bit of young fresh blood on any committee, especially if they have the individuality to wear such an amazing hat!!
ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking of you all as you lay Sylvia to rest, so nice to be a part of a village where you know each other and are a valued part of each others lives.
Agreed.... We needed someone pretty and talented
Delete( she's a wizz at photography and making carrot doggies!
Even though we live in this thing called a global village, it is nice to get the sense of a real village through your blog, and read the village news each day. Well done on your 600 badge BTW.
ReplyDeleteWell, Hannah certainly knows how to make a fashion statement!
ReplyDeleteComfort to Sylvia's village. Good memories with the tea.
ReplyDeleteThis is common head gear of the students at the art college in our city. Actually it's the norm. If you see a handmade Viking cap walking down the street you know for certain they are an artist in the making!
ReplyDeleteI would like to believe that dear Sylvia would appreciate the humour here re: Hannah's headgear. LOL! Can't beat some of those comments and won't attempt to!
ReplyDeleteSeeing Hannah my first thought was "Biggles!"
ReplyDeleteI would just like to point out that I don't always wear this hat! It was cold (November, I think) and I was having a very bad hair day ;-)
ReplyDeleteNow you've disillusioned us all Hannah ...Lol!
DeleteHaha!
DeletePhotographic evidence: me sans hat

Totally beautiful (with or without your lovely hat). Now you'll just have Tom Stephenson going PHWOAR!!!!!! all over again.. Lol
DeleteJohn, we're going to have to take a new group photo at the next meeting :-P
ReplyDeleteAgreed
DeleteCould I have my photo taken through gauze?
A soft filter and candle light will do wonders for all of you.
DeleteWith the hat, I trust!
DeleteHi John, I think Hannah is a real looker, to bad YP can't see that, and to think that Hannah is a photographer, my kind of gal.
ReplyDeleteHorst in Edmonton - are you the 700th follower that John has dreamed about all his life? Do you used to put film in your old 35mm?
DeleteMy dream is 1000
DeleteIs that a carpet-cleaner?
DeleteHey Tom, yes, I was a Pro photographer for about 38 years so I have put a lot of film in my cameras over the years. A 35 MM camera was just a toy to me but I did have a few.
DeleteAw, thank you :-)
ReplyDeleteWell I LIKE your hat, Hannah! Wish I had one just like it and I would wear it all winter long, bad hair or good. I think YP is just jealous.
ReplyDeleteOh, and by the way, so sorry about Sylvia... poor Sylvia, spotlight taken by a hat....
DeleteI also like the hat, and the flower shower committee looks like a fun group.
